Hotel was great I was on a biz trip so didn't have time to go out and see the surrounding area but the hotel staff was great during the stay.
West lake location was great. Most taxi driver knew where it is and it was close to most of city attractions. Staffs were very friendly and fluent in English.
Intercontinental West Lake is a beautiful and peaceful hotel just minutes away ( and very few dollars) from the main City atractions. The food in all of the different restaurants is great! Took me very long to take a decition of where to stay in Hanoi when I was planning my trip to Vietnam and my wife and myself were VERY pleased we chose this hotel. No doubt I will stay here again and I widely recomend it! This a different spot of all of those in Hanoi.
Everything about our stay was great, from start to finish. Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake was the first hotel we stayed in when we arrived in Vietnam for our honeymoon. I emailed from the airport in Los Angeles inquiring about a shuttle. I received a quick response stating that there wasn't a shuttle, but they gave me several options for car service, from a Toyota Celica up to a Mercedes, along with listed prices. We were met at the airport, and they even helped us pick up our visa and get through customs. (We basically got to skip every line that everyone else on our plane stood in!) The hotel itself is beautiful. We arrived to a fruit and chocolate plate, along with a hand written note congratulating us and wishing us luck and happiness in our marriage. The setting on the lake is very relaxing and quiet, but still a quick walk to the old center of Hanoi. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the amenities at the hotel are all great. They have an excellent fitness center with nice newer equipment, and a great steam room and sauna. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
We arrived - 3 people on my company to the hotel at 1 am . Our plane from HCMC was 3 hours late . When we arrived we were told that our prepaid rooms were given away because of our late arrival. 2 of my employees ( 1 man and 1 woman ) were asked to share a room even though they were not married . My King room was changed to 2 single beds . My 2 employees had to fight to get 2 separate rooms taking 1.5 hours . I simply asked for my money to be returned immediately when all of a sudden - I was told the king room was suddenly available . When I complained to the duty manager the next morning - no results ! Next day an apology note . Food was absolutely terrible ! I was told by the waitstaff privately that the management did not care for business customers - only tours and that I should somewhere else in the future as it would be the same ! Needless to say - I will never be back ! I recommend the Sofitel Plaza in Hanoi where the staff are great and the food to always be good !
The hotel design is awesome, as was the breakfast. The only things to improve are that the thermostat in the seemed to keep the same temperature no matter what you set it to, and the WiFi is a bit spotty. The location is about 10 - 15 minutes into Hanoi (~USD 4/5), but there are good places to eat in the Tay Ho (lake) district that are very walkable.
Extremely friendly and professional staff, gourmet restaurants and plenty of quality services. A bit far from the Old Quarter, but built on an interesting lake. Very good value.
Wonderful hotel with very nice rooms
I had a fantastic experience. The staff was super friendly and I was impressed by the customer service. I had a staff member call my room to ask about a wake up call and then asked if I would like a 2nd call just in case! Obviously quality assurance is the top priority of all staff members at the West Lake.
