InterContinental Hanoi Westlake5.0 out of 5.0

It was a wonderful hotel and a nice way to discover the Westlake area of Hanoi. However, because of construction, it was difficult to get to/from the center of time. I would have appreciated a shuttle service to/from city center.
Located about 30 to 40 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the old quarter. From the moment of checking in to out the staff were so polite and helpful. The executive lounge staff one called Dat went of of his way to clearly advise places and directions etc. Rooms lovely with great view. Gym most modern and latest equipment. Strongly recommend without any issues
We LOVED this hotel...everyone was super-helpful always, with great insight on best things to do in Hanoi. The rooms were sensational, the views outstanding. If only to stay at this hotel, I would go back to Hanoi again.
What can I say? Just wow! We were greeted in person by Eric who was a star, as were all the other staff. We were lucky enough to stay in the Intercontinental Club with all our family and that was something else. Such personal and special service. Great food everywhere, lovely drinks in the evenings in the club and fab pool and views. A short walk to nearby bars and local places to eat and only 10 minutes in a taxi from the main square. We will be back - these guys are setting the standards in Hanoi! We all loved the stay with them.
We stayed in an overwater room. The view was interesting. When I visited (which was 20th Jan) the sky was gloomy with many clouds, so the view was flat white: the lake and sky were hard to distinguish. They had 24hr room service so we could manage to eat our late dinner by the lake. It was a savior to us cuz we checked-in at the hotel at midnight starving. I think their food is generally delicious; the breakfast and room service. For its atmosphere and service, I think It worths a try staying in for its uniqueness.
I stayed at an overwater room and I really love the view, especially during sunset time the view was just amazing! The breakfast was good too and I loved the pho there! However, the hotel looked a bit aged and I saw geckos everywhere (luckily didn't see one in my room!!). Also, the balcony was so close to my neighbour's that's why I didn't use that for too long as my neighbour was always there at the balcony.
A very lovely hotel. We had 4 nights in Jan; first 2 nights were in one of the bungalow rooms over the water away from the main building and near their Sunset Bar. After we returned from our trip to Bai tu Long Bay we then had 2 nights at the hotel in a Lotus Suite room in the main building up on 5th floor - which we preferred. Room had a small terrace that looked out across hotel to Hanoi beyond. Sofa/living area - beautifully decorated. Bed - great, wardrobe area - ran length behind bed. Bathroom - great. Bath and shower separate, lots of space, fab large towels. Hotel restaurants; Sunset Bar, Milano (Italian) and Saigon (Asian). We ate twice at Milano. Food was great but we found the staff's attention somewhat over-attentive. Location - OK but it's a taxi ride to the city - not expensive - about £3 one way. We walked it once (from the city back to hotel) - was an interesting experience but I wouldn't repeat it!. Great service and I imagine it's all very beautiful in the warm weather when you're on the lake, you can use their outdoor pool...all in a very lovely setting.
As you enter the Hanoi Intercontinental, you are greeted by a beautiful woman dressed in traditional Vietnamese clothing who bows and welcomes you to Hanoi. All of the rooms have views of the lake and although it is hot and muggy, having a balcony to sit on to enjoy the view was a big plus. It was overcast and rainy while we were in Hanoi yet I swam everyday in the beautiful mosaic pool. The breakfast buffet was the highlight of the stay with numerous stations featuring dim sum, sushi, Vietnamese, and other Asian fare, as well as fresh squeezed juices, a plethora f exotica fruit, pastries, breads, and hot entrees. A glassed bee hive allowed guests to watch bees making the honey which was served. Walking the streets of Hanoi can be hazardous as there are 8 million people and 5 million motor scooters. When crossing the street just walk or run and keep on going. Bout a block away was an excellent Vietnamese place for massages that cost about $20 for an hour of deep tissue. We loved the hotel.
We stayed at the Intercontinental Westlake in a two rooms residence overlooking the lake with the Club Lounge access. We had pick-up from the airport arranged by the hotel and 15 minutes into our ride, we received a call from the hotel asking us about our ride and our flight We opted for the check-in to be performed at the Club Lounge so that we can have some drinks after a long delayed flight. The exterior of the hotel looked grand overlooking the Westlake upon our arrival. We met with Vanessa, the Club Lounge Manager who assisted us in our check-in. She was friendly, very articulate and knowledgeable in suggesting where to dine and what activities that we can do around Hanoi. All the suggested places were carefully marked on the map for our easy reference. Upon checking into our two bedrooms residences, the rooms and bathrooms are clean but they are in a dire need of a major upgrade and refurbishment as there are scratches on the wooden floors and broken tiles around the doors at the bathroom arising from the wear and tear over the years. The furniture is a bit dated as well but the kitchen appliances still looked new and modern. Generally, the hotel was quiet except on the first night, I was awoken by the noise of someone pulling their luggage outside the room at 3.30 am!! Breakfast at the Club Lounge was delightful especially with their delicious beef or chicken Pho noodles. The service staff were excellent in their attentive service especially Dat and Phoang (Hope that I spelt their names correctly) together with Vanessa. My family and I really felt that they are providing their excellent services from their heart as well as from their own passions which we truly appreciate. One of the best team that we had met during our years of travel and staying n other five stars hotels where the services were also good but this team at the Club Lounge served with their hearts. Other than breakfast, we did not try any food at the hotel but we tried several interesting places to eat as recommended by the team there. Initially, we were having reservation of booking at the Intercontinental Westlake due to the reported road works around the hotel and we were considering Intercontinental Landmark but we are glad that we didn’t. As long you planned your travel outside the 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm roadblock period, you would be fine. Five stars for the staff service al round but the dated rooms only deserved a three stars.
Great comfy bed. Awesome spacious bathroom. Luxury pods on the lake. A great hotel, with a great location. Breakfast was very nice and catered for a wide variety of palates. The service and staff was very good and overall everybody was very accommodating, helpful and friendly.
