The staff are extremely friendly. This place is value for money. We definitely recommend paying that bit more to upgrade to the family room (we stayed here twice both the family and standard rooms). For the price, the breakfast on offer was great (you can order pho or other things + a modest buffet type breakfast). Would recommend.
We have just left Hanoi after a 3 night stay at tHe Calypso hotel. From start to finish our stay was perfect. On our arrival we had at least 4 staff tend to us including carrying our bags, making us a drink, welcoming us to Vietnam and going through every aspect of the hotel and Hanoi we could need. We were given recommendations and top tips of things to do and see during our stay as well as how to cross the road! (VITAL info!). Flower was brilliant; such enthusiasm and warmth throughout. Breakfast was brilliant- more food than you could ever need and again the service fantastic. A small hotel but everything you could need in a perfect location! Would definitely stay again and recommend! Thank you Nicola and chris steele
Although only small hotel in Hanoi it is probably one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.The room I was staying in was very spacious, comfortable and clean as was the rest of the hotel.Breakfast was also very nice and had no complaints.Last of all was the staff who were really nice friendly people who were so helpful.Located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi not far from everything.I would give hotel 5 stars and highly recommend to anybody staying in Hanoi.
We ended up staying here twice during out time in Hanoi - before and after our Halong Bay trip. It was so good first time round there was no point hunting for another perfect spot. In a great location on the old quarter - close enough everything, but far enough away that it's peaceful. The staff went above and beyond for us, we arrived early in the morning off the over night bus from Da Nang and we were given the option to check in at 7am for only $10USD extra - totally worth it. We were then upgraded on our return from Halong. They also looked after our bags while at Halong so we didn't need to lug around all our luggage. The breakfast was amazing - buffet options then also a breakfast menu with a mix of Vietnamese and Western food cooked fresh to order. We slept in our first morning and were gutted to see what we'd missed the next day. We were sent off to the airport with a pack breakfast as we departed at 6am. Highly recommend if you want a relaxing stay in Hanoi.
Spending a night there and the staff told us about do and don't in hanoi. The room is clean and breakfast is okay. The place is well maintained however the air conditioner is leaking. The pipe of the sink is not working.
It is very hard to find big Hotel in Vietnam. The building there are slim and tall. So are the hotels. So don't get confused with the shape of the hotel. The room in Calypso are well furnished. With whites and modern furniture. The most important thing of all are the room is clean and quite with very reasonable price. The staffs are very friendly and helpful.
From the time our family of 7 arrived until the moment we left, we felt like we had been adopted by the entire staff at this lovely hotel. The staff accommodated our every need, upgraded our rooms (without being asked), stored our luggage while we went on a Halong Bay cruise. On the morning of our arrival we realized that an airport shuttle had not been booked. One email to Linda and our problems were solved and a driver was waiting for us when we arrived. The staff recommended great restaurants, 2 of which we returned to again, provided umbrellas, and regularly checked on how we were doing. The hotel has a small restaurant serving breakfasts featuring both western and Asian cuisine and again, the staff was attentive and personable. The location gave us easy access to everything we wanted to see and do in Hanoi and the staff provided assistance for city tours, shuttles to and from Halong Bay, and all sorts of local advice. In a city geared for tourism, The entire team at Calypso Grand is the best of the best. It was so reassuring to see their smiles when we left in the morning and receive their warm greetings on our returns. Thanks to each of you for making our stay extra special, we will be back!
Situated in the old area of Hanoi the Calypso is a great base. The staff can't do enough to help you and the rooms are lovely and clean. Well recommended for tourist travel and sightseeing, the hotel can also arrange cruises around Halong bay for you
We had the pleasure to stay in the large front-side family rooms of the Calypso Premier hotel. Best room we had in Vietnam this far: great space, very comfy beds, comfortable bathroom with shower and bath - all perfect. Brilliant view on Vietnamese street life from the 3rd floor balcony. Yet what makes staying in this hotel even more recommendable is the dedicated service provided by Ms Linda and her friendly, professional staff. From the second you arrive, we felt being taken care of. Luggage, welcome drinks, helpful directions and even written translations from the reception staff - and let's not forget the delicious, copious breakfast. It was a sheer joy to return to the hotel after trips to Sa Pa and Ha Long Bay. Calypso and its staff truly felt like our temporary home in Hanoi. Absolutely recommendable!
The hotel was recommended to us by some fellow travellers we had met elsewhere. They cited the fantastic customer service offered by the staff at the hotel, and I have to say we certainly were not disappointed! From the beginning to the end of our stay we were treated like VIPs, anything they could do to help we simply had to say the word - a truly 5* service! Our room was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated - the air con was quiet and effective and present were all the amenities you would expect. There was a good selection of dishes for breakfast, ranging from cooked items to fruit, juices, pastries and cereal. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. I don't usually do reviews of places I've stayed but made it a priority to do so for this hotel given the immense effort made by the staff to ensure our stay was enjoyable. You got the impression they genuinely cared about your experience and made clear their desire to assist you in any way they could. Fantastic hotel!
