Stayed here in seven years ago when we last visited Hanoi and loved the location, so went back to this hotel again. Hotel is exactly the same as it was back then, nothing has changed. We didn't book in advance, the rate we were given on walk in was similar to what was advertised online, breakfast wasn't included which is fine with us. The room we stayed in smelled terribly mouldy, it was over powering at times. Bathroom had no ventilation. The shower is in the bath, and the bath was quite elevated and I'm scared of heights, I wouldn't recommend this room for someone with mobility issues. Super hard beds but this is Vietnam. Great location, walking distance to everything. Very helpful staff even though they were very busy at the front desk, helped us make bookings at restaurants we wanted to visit. Although the hotel isn't badly priced, I think at this price point in competitive Hanoi, you could do better. Needs a refresh.
Hotel locates is the best location in Hanoi. The breakfast is reasonable at the rooftop restaurant with excellent view. I believe the hotel needs a serious maintenance, and clean up. The room does not look that old but a bit clean up and maintenance will be fine, especially lighting system and cleanness inside the toilet I suggest the staff behavior to be improve if they consider a long term career and living, a little smile to the guests will make different
Room on 8th floor. Had to climb as at that moment elevator malfunctioned. But staff was v helpful and carried my bags though my lungs .... Clean room. Somewhat old. The outside of my room was noisy. People loud talking. Warm reception, helpful staff. Taxi for airport at good rate arranged . Bed comfortable. Towels just good enough. Bathroom clean and mid sized.
We barely took a shower and moving the body because the shower cabin is so so small. If you are a 1m70 or over than 70kg, you should book other hotel. Honestly. Breakfast was ok. They had some common dishes like Phở, bread with eggs or ham. That's enough for us. If you want some fancy breakfast, you may walk to other restaurants nearby.
The location is great, right in the middle of the Old Quarter. The staff service is average. But the carpet in the room was pretty old and stained. Big room but definitely looks and feels old. Good for an overnighter or short trip but maybe nothing more than that.
This hotel was booked by my company. It's displayed as a 3 star hotel and was given an award for excellence by Trip Advisor in 2013. Which makes sense because the carpet and wall has not been cleaned since then. It's noisy and the staff speak limited English to help you. And I'm not one to complain often. Something has to be really wrong with the room for me to complain. There was a rat in the bathroom. After telling the reception, they replied 'it's not a problem, it's only small' So there was a small disease infested rat in the room. Would not recommend until they refurbish and introduce pest control.
I stayed for 1 week and the room was always clean when I got back from my seminar at Vietnam National University. The location was also ideal because it is very accessible to a lot of good restaurants and tourist spots. They were also offering guided tours to HaLong Bay, and the staff was very helpful. Won't think twice about spending time here again!
We stayed here for five nights. Upon arrival the reception staff didn't look to interested in checking me in. After a few minutes I was on my way upstairs but the room hadn't be cleaned yet. I decided to upgradeeral my room before I came an the only difference was a street view an more space. Breakfast was average an English level pretty low too. The hotel is in a good location walking distance to the lake an most places. Overall not too bad I gave it three stars because unhelpful staff an bit run down.
Yet another great location hotel in Hanoi. Close to Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarters, cafes, small quaint shops, water puppet theatre - all within walking distance. At 5am in the wee hours of the morning, the street fronting the hotel is filled with peddlers selling vegetables to clothes to flowers. A sight to behold. It is over before the clock strikes 7am. Not to be miss! The hotel, well, in their website (photos) and reviews were pretty good. I have to say it is a total contrast. The staff was great! They spoke better English than other hotels we have stayed in Vietnam. They gave their best but there is always room for improvement. Our check-in was smooth but I did not like the part where they take our passports to make copies (Vietnam regulations demands) and don't return them until later that day. it's alright to make a copy as per regulation but please return immediately and not wait for a few hours. My room was big and I had the view of the front street and a building across. My colleague was not lucky. He had a room with no windows at all and small. The room carpet was utterly disgusting. Stained and smell. It felt yucky and the room slippers they provide seems used! I had to wear my own street flip flops throughtout my time in the room. The curtains were old and dirty. The bed was ok but nothing to shout about. The bathroom was big and stained. In fact, I felt uneasy with the cleanliness and throughtout the 4 days, I did not have a proper sleep. Noise from the 5am market on the streets were loud (and that is how I discovered the street wet market). In the day, the day curtains does not work as the people across the building can see you changing. Breakfast was at the 9th floor with a partial view of Hoan Kiem Lake. An OK spread but nothing to shout about. A hot station serves eggs and Pho. The only distracting bit was a large TV that was more for the staff than their guests. Staff lockers are situated in the restaurant and one could see staff arriving and keeping their personal belongings. This is strange yet funny. In fact, we had dinner one evening and was surprised to see the restaurant serves as a staff canteen too with no regards to the guests presence and TV at a loudness that we have to speak loudly to hear ourselves. Oh, and the staff smokes too! We saw the kitchen while heading to the toilet and it was, well, not in a good state! Hygiene is a concern. One evening, when we got back to the hotel, we saw a group of ladies in tight skimpy uniforms at the far end of the lobby. We asked the reception if there is an event going on. He replied these girls are from the spa. And true enough, they seem to be soliciting business from us and we suspect it was a happy ending spa. We found out the hotel is connected to the spa at the back of the lobby. It was not an easy 4 nights for us especially with the room condition. The staff are great and they did their very best. However, this hotel needs a total refurbishment. Though the location is better than those we stayed at this area, the hotel condition is terrible. I will not stay again unless it is refurbished.
Our Hanoi adventure turned out great when we had our first breakfast. Bao Khanh Hotel serves a GREAT buffet breakfast. Unlimited pho, banh my, etc. Of course the coffee is great. We saw some guests even asked for plastic bags for some take out food! We were desperate to get a room when we arrived at 130am and found that the hotels in Hanoi are closed. Not literally closed but desk clerks are sleeping at this hour and lobby doors of 80% of the hotels are closed. Fortunately, this hotel is open and the accommodated us. The location is great because it is right at the side of the famous Hoan Kiem Lake. The hotel is also a few steps away from the "pub"strip.
