We booked months ahead, paid and received numerous confirmations about our stay. After flying across the country and then driving 5 hours down to GS with a 8 year old in a rental, we still had not received the access codes and information to get into our reservation, although all communication stated we would have it the day prior. After hours of no responsiveness from the host, I called VRBO directly for help. They informed me I had still not filled out the property agreement which was sent by link in VRBO measages (I also NEVER received a notification from VRBO I had any such message waiting for me & did not have the app downloaded). So I tried to click the link and jump through final hoops only to find the web host for that form was down for maintenance. After HOURS on the phone VRBO was also unable to reach the host. I was so distressed we had no place to stay. VRBO assured me I’d be refunded and offered to cover the cost difference to book another place last minute (up to 500). The new reservation was over twice my original booking and I have yet to get refunded or reimbursed. I’m just out a lot of money. All could have been avoided ahead of time if I had known I had a message and more to do for my booking. And if the host was available to assist. If they aren’t, they need to hire a 3rd party to provide service. All this could have been avoided. I am very disappointed in the lack of communication that resulted in this outcome. I hope they will refund promptly.
