Communication with staff was very difficult. Prepare to show off your charade skills as you tackle simple request such as: order ice cubes, order food, order drinks or even ask where to get mosquito spray. The facilities itself were once luxurious but similar to other properties on the island, the maintenance is not able to keep up. Mold in bathrooms, small toilet seats or not working AC units are just a few of the run down things you can expect when staying here. You will have to bargain with the tour lady to get a decent price for a taxi, as even she will try to rip you off. Otherwise, she had good suggestions for tours. The food for lunch and dinner was ok at the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was ok... Don't order cocktails as these had barely alcohol in them. The pool was nice but a bit small. Location is good. There is a beach just a couple of minutes away. I did like the citronella room scent, so you didn't have to worry about mosquitos.
We stayed at The Sarann for 5 nights and really enjoyed everything that the hotel had to offer. It's a small hotel, It's on Chaweng Noi beach which is a very nice quiet beach This hotel is a small hotel it doesn't provide a lot of facilities that a big international chain would, but we had a nice room, beach, spa, free wifi and that's about all we need. Yes the swimming pool is on the small side and they don't have more room for more sun beds. The only drawback I found was the restaurant, very limited choice of food and drinks and the quality of the food was not good. orded food twice, but the it didnt meet the expectations. All in all I would recommend The Sarann if you are looking something local, small yet tasteful. If you are used to big hotel chains Samui has quite a few of them now but I found this type of place a lot more charming.
We are currently on our last day at the Sarann. We have had a wonderful week staying here. We payed the extra and upgraded to a pool villa and were very happy we did. Although we do agree there are parts of the unit that are a little tired the staff and the great location make up for any shortfalls. We had several meals in the restaurant and enjoyed them also We would like to mention Pae our breakfast waiter who was just amazing. I wish i knew all the staffs names as they were just so amazing a complete credit to the resort. Thankyou to all of you for being so wonderful we will highly recommend you to all our family and friends.
Very good hotel for a very friendly price! The deluxe room we have booked is really nice and big enough for even four people because it has two rooms and a seperate bathroom including a bath and shower. Very friendly and competent staff and all can be arranged via the reception desk! And the view over the bay is fantastic as well!! Again we had a very pleasant stay here!
I loved the spa tub so much during my stay, was the best part. They also provided another bath tub in the room as well which was helpful when we didn't want mosquitoes from outside when enjoying the tub. Found it during the low season was pretty worthwhile but however it goes pretty high as well after the low season.
Ultimate relaxation! From the moment we arrived, we began to unwind and relax in this amazing gem in Samui. This is my 5th visit to Samui, (4th with husband), and this is the best place we have EVER stayed!!! The location is at the end of Chaweng Noi beach, so it's a short motorbike or taxi ride into Chaweng, and not far from some great restaurants in Lamai. We stayed in a seafront pool villa which, I feel I'm out of adjectives here, but was just fantastic. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating and really look out for their guests. Example, on our first day, we took the shuttle into Chaweng to have lunch and hire a bike, and upon our return, my husband's phone was handed to him, as he had left it in the car. The spa facilities on site are lovely, but our tip for a massage is to ask for Yui. She is fantastic! Our first massage was 1/2 hr each, she did one after the other and we were both happy. Our second visit of 1 hr simultaneously saw my husband enjoy Yui's expertise, while my masseuse was disappointing. Hence our 3rd visit, we both insisted on Yui as our masseuse. You can tell when someone takes pride in their work and enjoys what they do, and that is Yui. The Sarann has set the bar for us for Samui, and I highly recommend it!!!
On our first night, we stayed at the Sea Front Pool Villa. The view towards the seas was fantastic. The quietness, ambience and atmosphere was truly romantic. The Villa is very big with a separate lounge area. We continued to stay the next 2 nights at the Jacuzzi villa. The villa is huge and clean. The jacuzzi and the big round bath works well. However, the hot water shower was erratic. The bed was comfortable but squeaky. We feedback to the Reception about mosquitos and were promptly provided with insecticides spray and electric mosquito repellent. The overall stay for the 3 nights at Sarann was great. We had a body scrub and massage at the Sarann Spa. It was a rejuvenating experience under the skilful hands of the masseuses. There is a small travel agency opposite the main reception. Free travel brochures/pamphlets and tour options are available. A trip for a Taxi to main Central shopping area is 300bahts. Do remember to bring along the hotel address card to show the Taxi driver for your trip back to the resort. Service Standards: We were very delighted about the service standards of the staff. Both the Reception and Restaurant employees were very friendly and helpful.
From the moment we were picked up at the airport by Aek, we knew we were going to have a great week. He is a great representative of the Sarann. All week he met us with a big smile and friendly greeting. In fact, all the staff are an asset to the resort. The private pool villas are worth the extra cost if your budget will allow. The extra space makes for a more comfortable stay and the private pool with unobstructed views is worth the extra money. The resort even provides extra bottles of water for cleaning your teeth which is a nice touch. The Wifi worked really well all week no matter what time of day. Breakfast was good, egg station, buffet, cerials, bread, pastries, yoghurt and fresh fruits. The lunch and dinner menus were also good with a selection of western and asian meals. The meals were a little on the pricy side especially when compared to other restaurants in the area. One thing that let the resort down was the general condition of the villa. It was overdue for renovation, especially the wood on the deck. It was very weathered and a lot of paint was peeling or blistering on the walls. All in all it didn't stop us enjoying our stay but it certainly detracts from what was a nice resort.
It's ok but it's far from amazing. The resort looks tired and is in dire need of maintenance. The positives We stayed in a pool villa room. It was spacious with a good sized bathroom, separate lounge area and bedroom. The views from the pool and the bedroom are excellent. The negatives The paint is blistering and peeling off the walls. The deck has weathered so much some of the boards are lose and warped. The shower is either hot or cold....warm is very hard to achieve. The plumbing is questionable as we had to get the toilet fixed 3 times during our stay. There was no follow up from management to make sure this issue had been resolved. Other things to know This resort is located very close to the ring road. If you are in one of the rooms at the back of the property (closest to the road), the reception, spa or the dining area you are going to get traffic noise. So if you are wanting the long, lazy, quiet breakfast, you will not get this. The lady who books tours around the island is a 3rd party and not a hotel employee. You cannot charge trips to your room and there are no credit card facilities when booking trips with her. This resort could be great but it needs better management.
Great stay in the Sarann's Jacuzzi Villa. Unlike some others, our Jacuzzi worked perfectly and had hot water. Very spacious and luxurious room. Cleaning ok. Poolside cocktails really great. Breakfast is really abundant and delicious. We only had a small disadventure when checking out. A young receptionist (the slim one, not the chubby one, who was really nice to us) accused us of stealing the towels from the room (which we obviously did not). After our protests, he told us to open our suitcases in front of him and all the others present. At that point I got very angry and I refused to do so and paid the cost of the towels (about 300 Bath). Really an unpleasant moment that partially ruined our stay.
