only stayed here b/c we got a good rate and the place looked luxurious from outside. inside has all the trappings of a great hotel, but the little things let it down. the hot tub bubbles don't work. the beds are rock hard. the floors are cracked. everything just felt dilapidated, a hanger actually fell apart in my hands. at one time, probably 10 years ago, i'm sure this hotel was stellar. now, not so much.
The hotel is directly located on the main road. Rooms towards the road are quite noisy. We changed the room against an upgrade fee and then it was okay. So, never take the cheapest room type as they all face the road ("Mountain View"). The hotel itself is very good and the staff friendly. The beach in this area is not very nice. We went to the southern tip of Lamai at Gramdmother/Grandfather rock and its great there (but you need a bike/car).
