the room is quite outdated, everything is of good or luxury standards but all looks tired. Too much black color makes it look too dark and creepy. The way to our room is way too long where a buggy needs to go 5-10min to reach and we also need to climb quite a few stairs to the room, which is less than a villa. The pool view towards the opposite side of the mountain with limited cover to the sea. The check in is rather slow which kept us waiting around 20mins though, and the check out time is strictly set at 12:00: They would call in the room to alarm you first and sent two people one by one to check the minibar though the minibar is quite poor plus they would keep you waiting a while to wait their buggy. The road is quite steep which is unpleasant actually. The breakfast is very good with good variety of choices and acceptable services. The sofa beside the pool is very dirty, clearly without cleaning, which is quite below the brand standard.
We'd never stayed at a Banyan Tree franchise before but will certainly comeback.. we were very fortunate to get villa H03, arguably the best villa in the samui resort.. high up on the hill but with stunning uninterrupted views. All the staff from the groundsmen, buggy boys ,waitresses right up the the general manager made us feel like royalty.. nothing was too much trouble.. top tips.. definitely take the half day (restricted just to your party) boat ride (Banyan Tree has its own beautiful boat) it is wonderful and you're catered for personally.. there was my wife, myself and our two grown up teenagers and all were amazed at the snorkelling in the reefs.. clouds of fish!! The resort operates a golf buggy service to get people around the resort all very efficient, breakfast is an amazing international spread ..the rooms are spotless and linen (which you choose when you arrive!) changed regularly.. we'd recommend Sands for lunch and Saffron for a special occasion evening dinner, all the team were outstanding and the food exceptional...a pleasure to visit.. final comments.. the water sports team are brill, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, snorkels, windsurf, hobbie craft etc. Rhung taught my son(15) how to fish and then let him borrow their tackle everyday for a few hours to perfect his skills..so friendly.. a good sized gym too which was nice and cool for a early evening workout .. the team do put on events through the day if you fancy e.g. Pilates, morning yoga etc. Outside of the resort in lamai (quieter but still enough to do) its busy and usual thai hustle bustle of tailors, pharmacies, laundry, massage and restaurants but everyone is very welcoming.. chewang is busier still and not to our liking but lively enough if that's your scene.. grandfather and grandmother rocks are ok, but for us it was the banyan tree resort supplemented by some trips out to fine dining restaurants in the area (and there are plenty poppies and the larder stand out)... the resort provides you with a personal host as you arrive , ours was Patrick and a wonderful chap he is.. always on hand to help book restaurants or book activities (golf) nothing too much trouble..a superb family holiday, you won't be disappointed if you like luxury , great food and friendly folks to help you in the activities..
If you stay on Koh Samui, you must stay at Banyan Tree. We came as part of our honeymoon, and the villas and the view is amazing. I would ask if you could have a villa that will be sunny in the afternoon, because after 2pm our villa was in the shade due to the setting sun. Also be aware that this is an extremely expensive resort for both lodging and food/drink. I wished we could have stayed longer, but it wasn't in our budget.
Probably THE best family vacation we have ever had, thanks to the attentive & professional touch our host Patrick gave us. It truly is a magnificent resort to stay at. If not from the charming "Pop" at reception to "Jet" at the Sands Beach bar & restaurant, ALL the staff were highly professional but also displayed a wonderful confident calmness as they went about there various jobs which just made it more enjoyable. Thanks so much for helping make it such a great holiday.
Nice view and good quality of the service，good in associate of the Samui trip，routine of shuttle bus，pick up in time. Food in both restraunt are good，very tasty and nice view. i hope to go back again.
I would highly recommend the Banyan Tree Koh Samui. We had room G01 and we travelled as a family of four. The villa was gorgeous and stunning views. Everything about our holiday was perfect form the location, the staff, the service and all the restaurants. Nothing is too much trouble for any memeber of the team, we had a totally relaxing, luxurious holiday and will definately return.
The Banyan Tree is a great hotel. Our double ocean view had a fantastic view and was a lovely place to relax. Beach and water sport facilities proved to be very popular with our children who used the snorkelling, hobbie cats , paddle boards and array of kuyaks extensively. All located on a hill but the buggy service means you never have to walk if you don't wish too. Excellent spot.
I will try to give an honest view of this hotel compared to other five star hotels we have stayed in:- over all I would say stay here it's beautiful but I wouldn't recommend to stay here for the long list below. We had not been to Thailand before and had stayed a few nights in Bangkok and koh phangan before our three night stay in koh samui. To stay I was excited to stay in the banyan tree is an understatement, we had paid for an ocean view villa for our third wedding anniversary. The hotel is a 40 so minuet drive from the port from koh phangan and on arrival I was blown away you are welcomed into a beautiful lobby over looking the villas and the sea. Given a beautiful welcome drink and then are introduced to your villa host who goes through and helps you choose what oils for the room burner and what type of fabric you want for your bedding and pillow firmness.. all of this can be done online before hand if you know what you want. Mind blown this was pure five star beautiful style service... sadly that's where it basically ended. We were transported to our villa which was classed declassified from a royal banyan villa to ocean villaD06 (ocean villas are just below hillcrest and the royal being above both of them) as we were being shown around my heart sank. The villa has a 30% view of the sea and the rest was over grown garden with the next villa directly looking into it. To top it up right smack in the middle was a metal pole ( guessing wifi or something) milo our host asked if all was okay and I just explained it was not what I expected. You will pay A LOT to stay here and will spend a LOT I was extremely disappointed what you see on the web is not want you get. Milo explained that he could check to see if we could be moved to another villa with the "view" that I had in mind, we were taken to another villa which I believe is what is classed as a sea view nearer the beach but smaller no bathtub or jacuzzi. The view was what I had thought I was would see the only problem was the villa was for two honeymooners their bags already brought to the room but not seen as they were in the spa but the team would happily swap us round ... my heart broke and I just walked off crying. For me I could not imagine being on my honeymoon and having to have that disappointing feeling and just could not bring myself to do it to them even though we never met. My suggestion for the hotel is to downgrade D06 as this is not a sea view I think milo then went into panic not sure how many guest have cried on the back of the buggy. We were then offered to upgrade as this was all they had left at 6000 baht per night to a royal banyan. Around 480 in the end. So because I couldn't take a view from a honeymoon couple we paid the money. We did get complementary late check out which was extremely nice. The villa was beautiful - G06 -we had a few things wrong on the first night broken pool lights , jacuzzi not heating up. But all where fixed extremely quickly the next day. Our pool sadly had limited sun light and by 1 no sun at all but that is what it is. We didn't get the fabric we choose for the bedding which is neither here nor there. The pool is everything and the view was beautiful m. But I agree with a comment on here you could be anywhere. Nothing feels special about it in regards to Thai decor We ordered room service which is hit or miss if it gets to you warm or not. The thing I didn't like was you pay more for the cocktails in the room than down by the beach bar (the restaurant that does the i room dinning) but they come half the size The mini bar is well stocked although we had to order milk We did the destination dinning on the beach (which nearly was moved indoors due to a spot of rain.. but being British up an umbrella went and 25 mins later it was down again) this was the best thing about our stay so romantic and the food AMAZIng our host BEST was so lovely and just a pleasure he tried all night to keep the beach tealights going. Although once again expensive this is worth doing. We also did the spa, the rain forest experience. For me the pool part was cold and as I'm five foot the pool is not ment for small people and the very powerful jet experience is terrible. I also agree with other comments on here for the price the massager was not very good.m to which my husband agrees. We were offered an extra 30 mins to another treatment for free but we weren't interested in going back to the spa. The food is good we didn't like the beach restaurant. But saffron was lovely. The cocktails were lovely. The last area was the beach, a small cove but big enough. The pool guys are quick to set you up with what you need and bring drink if needed . The only thing I would say is the hotel staff need to treat the dying bleached corral better we did a snorklin hour with one of the team and spent an hour watching him stand on the coral !!!!!!!!!!! I had to swim away from him in the end. Also be warned if you are a light sleeper the hotel has birds that sound like car alarms who do not stop all night . There is nothing the hotel can do but bring ear plugs or do what I did and not sleep for three days. Overall I am sad that this experience was such a disappointment from my expectations but I did enjoy my time. I wouldn't rush to book another banyan tree experience if you plan on staying here book the hilcrest . I asked to see them on checkout and wow now that was a view !!! Special hello to ART the only buggy man who talked to us LCfC hahahsha
We were supposed to dine at the resort next door but after a 5 min poor experience, we left and arrived at the Banyan Tree. Why we didn't go here in the first place was a mistake. The Banyan Tree is simply stunning. From the drive up to reception. the view, the buggy service winding through the villas to the beach restaurant to the service and outstanding food and wine. We had lunch at the restaurant on the beach and it was simply beautiful. So much we stayed for 4 hours and were asked if we wanted a dinner booking! The service by Ann was outstanding and my son has allergies (gf/df/egg) and they catered for him to perfection without any fuss. It was easy and delicious. I would highly recommend eating here and will consider staying at the hotel in the near future. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
This was an extraordinary experience from start to finish . Firstly we traveled from our hotel on the other side of Samui , Conrad , from our room a buggy to the lobby then a private car to Banyan Tree hotel. Once we arrived at the lobby we then took another buggy ride through a magnificent vista of hedges , private villas looking over the sea and a spa that looked like heaven . We where then approaching SAFFRON , I loved the idea door to door such a unique way to travel. On arrival The offer of a frangipani and a ritual of washing of hands was so decadent. The service was outstanding, the location of our table was best summed up from another diner who observed to us this is the most romantic table in the restaurant , if not all of Koh Samui. I totally agree it was magical. The service was so on song , the food sublime just beyond a palate journey. Each flavour and aroma got more enticing and enjoyable. It was truly sublime. I could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Sure it was a unique and special night but it is something that everyone should at least experience. Thank you for a truly Beautiful experience.
