So Thailand seems to go one of two ways when booking hotels. Either incredible accommodating staff or terrible. We were forced into upgrading because 2 adults and a 7 yr old boy are not allowed to stay in a room with one king bed. 2 person limit, very strict! That was a huge hassle, so we upgraded whatever. We were shooed away from the pool table due to the age of our son :(. Dvd player wouldn't work and we ate our ramen out of tea cups because there was no way they could lend a bowl for using. They were just kind of rude at every turn. Hotel rooms were nice, pool was great and location not too bad. Not a place for families :/
The staff were wonderful, although dated the hotel was very neat, very tidy and very well run. A little bit away from the hustle and bustle but we really enjoyed it. Loved the rooms which had a very authentic feel to them.
I stay is deluxe room big and clean with plenty of room. They can help give you advice on local places to eat and trips. The hotel have small gyms and swimming pool quieter. and hotel have free parking .
Budget hotel done well. Lovely little place with nice helpful staff. Rooms are big and clean with plenty of room. They also have a pool which I was the only person at each time I went. They can help give you advice on local places to eat and trips ect. They also run a free DVD rental which is good if you have had a long day walking about and just want to chill out.
I once again returned to my friends at the Amarin and once again had a wonderful time. The ladies at reception, breakfast, information and the cleaning staff were always chatty and polite. Had my favourite room again overlooking the coconut garden and look forward so much to returning for a seventh time next year.
My expectation for a last booking were not very high, however, the staff and management nevertheless did not meet my very low benchmark. I arrived late and asked the hotel if they had a pick up service. They sent a driver that drove recklessly and way to fast in the rain. They were no accommodating to basic needs (e.g. fixing the broken air-conditioning). They were very rude and spoke English well only when the needed to charge for something. Overall, the quality of service was low, the amenities were poor, and the location was inconvenient and loud.
We stayed here for 4 nights (i think) and it was wonderful. The Staff is nice and always willing to help you. The Top-Floor Pool is good for relaxing after a scooter ride on Koh Samui :) All in all i stay here again.
This hotel is located on a very busy and hectic road which is fine if you want to use a motorbike but not so good if, like us, you want to walk places. There are no footpaths and it feels unsafe to walk to the beach or local restaurants. The reception area of the hotel is nice and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was ok but with a few problems including leaky air con at 3am, poor wifi and generally quite dull decor (which I think is supposed to be modern). The photos on the hotel website do not reflect the hotel. There is no restaurant/bar on the 5th floor - this now seems to be a big laundry area as Amarin also run a commercial laundry service as well. We could hear the noise from the laundry vans from our room and the elevator almost always had staff transporting laundry which meant you had to wait to use it. The hotel is just ok but I think there are much nicer places to stay for the same price or less on Koh Samui.
It is too far from Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach but only 15-20 minutes from the airport by car. The room is ok with bathtub, good maintainance of toilet. However the air conditioner keeps droping waters down all night althought I have told the front desk and they did try to fix it, but it was not working, it keeped droping waters down...till the day i checked out. The room service is good, the hotel provides delicious thai food, and the price is very reasonable. The night shift staff at front desk cannot speak English, guests have to inform the reception what they need in day time.
We stayed here for one night only and it was a fair price for the night. I was considering on giving this place a 3 star but the staff was excellent, super friendly and very helpful. The only reason I was considering on giving this a 3 star is because of the state of the room. I stayed in room 17 on the 3rd floor. Anything that is wooden in the bathroom needs to be replaced, it's warped and not in good shape, the door doesn't close properly due to this and neither does the "windows" from the bathroom to the room. A lot of it is discoloured as well. The shower head needs to be changed badly - it did not provide a steady stream of water and was just unpleasant. The water pressure was good though. The bed was comfortable enough and the pillows were great! So for a short stay, this hotel was fine. I did not use any of the other facilities therefore I cannot comment on them.
