I'm staying in this hotel on a monthly basis due to ongoing project. It's a good hotel in general, but was a bit disappointed this time. Usually I arrive around 2300 and the kitchen is opened till 2300. It was always possible to order the food. I arrived 2250 this time (even earlier than before), but the kitchen was already closed as (according to the receptionist) there was nobody since 2100?? So all day travelling and no possibility to have anything arranged. I was advised to look for food outside.. yes right)) maybe for bed as well? In addition, the room was freezing! And it's not even winter yet... It took around an hour for an old airco to warm up the room...
This I send to the hotel: Hello After a 3 day stay at your hotel, I have to send you an email. I book a hotel to sleep and have a comfortable time ( after recommended by CORA project responsible in Groningen),- unfortunately at Hotel Martini it was the opposite: The first night I only slept for two hours when the ventilation system was rattling all the time, have recorded it so that it can be documented, after a discussion at the reception I finally got the room changed, but the day was totally ruined. Then it was my departure day - not HOT water in the shower - and I had a long journey home without getting the shower! Here we pay hundreds of EURO in travel and accommodation, and then you are guilty of a totally ruined conference for me. In the name of decency, you should refund part or all of your stay. I have not get answer !!!! And after the letter, I heard from a colleague that between the beds had not been cleaned for many years!!!!
Stayed there 2 weeks for a business trip. I had a room with a double bed and a bathroom, located at the first floor heading to the backstreet of the hotel. The room and the bed were not very comfortable and the interior was rather outdated. The only good thing was, that it is located super central and bars, supermarkets and other stuff is in close proximity. Where my room was located, it was rather loud
I just tell you the story. I arrive in my hotel room which I pay 120 Euros and I find it at 17 degrees. I try to increase the temperature on the heating system and then come back after 3 hours to find the room at 17 degrees. When I call the reception, asking how I can increase the temperature, the receptionist says that there is no way. The Dutch people want 17 degrees in the room and I shall keep it like that or switch off the heating system. There is no way to warm up the room, and I shall accept it like that. Needless to say that I am working in the Netherlands since more than 10 years and that houses and hotels are not kept at 17 degrees. Apart from the absurdity of the discussion, the receptionist has been rude arrogant not helpful and insulting. I would even say racist. This is a place to avoid at any cost.A shame.
I think i ended up with a basic room..... no brew tray or hairdryer. Heating worked well. Very convenient situation. I did not take the breakfasts so can’t comment on those. Hs a big bar which is open late with snacks. Would come again.
I come often to Groningen to visit my daughter that studies university at this nice enjoyable city. Whether traveling with her mother or solo I always choose Martini Hotel. Well located close to restaurants (Weeva restaurant just next to the hotel never dissapoints), in front of bus station, walking distance from train station. Friendly and helpful staff, nice relaxed environment. When in town, I order some stuff to be delivered by post-nl to the hotel, buy myself a non pretentious wine bottle at the Albert Heijn or Jumbo less than 100 meters away and choose to relax, read, bike and wait for the next special moment with my daughter.
Martini hotel is on a great location but this is the only real value. I would consider this not more than two stars hotel as rooms and toilets are small, beds are not comfortable and heating might boil you… Reception service was good and the place was clean. As said – the real value is the location but I think it is overpriced only for this.
Good hotel nearby the centre. They have own parking place and otherwise there is a big parking nearby. The room we had was not big but ok. Bathroom was very small with not enough shelfs to put your things on. The shower however was fine.
It been a while - back to WEEVA! And a better experience, also feels the hotel had a bit of an overhaul? A hotel & restaurant rich in history. Well apportioned rooms. Good complete and varied Dutch breakfast. Super central. Will be back. Very helpful staff. Restaurant carries a well composed menu - we had a fantastic meal.
Arrived late at night after a very long journey and got a tiny, dark room overlooking the yard. It was somehow located in the cornewr at the end of a corridor, which was difficult to access. The shower was like in a boat, cabin shower, installed later, didn't build a proper a bathroom. I wouldn't recommend this hotel in Groningen. The breakfast was ok, but nothing special either.
