The property is well used, the fan was noisy and the shower head was leaking at the joints bad plumbing food was fare but not exceptional if you've never been before its a nightmare gaing entrance, but easy once you've done it.

Stayed for 2 night & could have a bath or shower as cold tap on bath didn’t work.the room wasn’t very clean dust on every ledge,the end of the bath panel was hanging off, the dressing table come tele stand was very badly water stained.I have stayed at the St James a few times in the past & it has definitely gone downhill

Me and my husband went for my birthday. Just 1night.it was clean staff are friendly.bed was comfortable. Could not fault the place. Would recommend family and friends to try it for themselves. And it's cheaper than weather spoons to stay. We didn't eat there but other people said the food is good.we will go again sometime. Keep up the good work all the best for the future.vivian Phil. We had a very comfortable stay. It was easy to check-in, very easy to access our room, and enjoyed a very relaxing stay. The bed was nice and firm, but so comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep.

The hotel is definitely a 3 star. We emailed the hotel ahead of our arrival to request a ground or first floor room, the reply back came across as if we were bothersome, saying our room had already been allocated. On arrival at the hotel, our impression wasn’t a good one as we were met outside the main reception doors with cigarette smoke, this was because it was the designated smoking area. On check-in the receptionist acted as if she was reading from a script and wasn’t particularly welcoming. We found the room clean, fresh and tidy with plenty of fresh soft towels and toiletries in the bathroom, also a fan which was most welcome as there was no air conditioning and the weather was hot. We found the bed all be it a standard 4’6”, nice and comfortable and had a good night sleep. There was a tray with a kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room which was welcome after a long trip. On the whole it was an okay place to spend a night. Improvements we would suggest for the room would be a complimentary bottle of water, electric power points either side of the bed for charging mobile phones etc and a mini fridge to store medication, fresh milk and any drinks someone may have. The hotel it’s self is in need of modernizing especially the bathroom
