A nice enough little unit but awkward
This little basement unit is nice enough, and they left a nice pile of activities for the kids. Parking space was right outside the door very convenient. Driveway is very steep, and is a loop and the upstairs tenant would park blocking the loop, so I would have to find a way to back and turn around in the narrow slippery gravel and pine needle steep driveway. They had a dog that incessantly barked at us, and their parking choice put either them or their friends standing a couple of feet outside the bathroom window while we all got ready in the morning snd they hung out at their car. It felt very awkward. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay for the price.

Convenient but loud
This is an affordable option near to downtown. It was too noisy for us (you can hear everything from upstairs) so we ended up cutting our trip short. The spare bed (one bed is in the living room and the other is a pull out couch in the laundry room) doesn’t have linens and they aren’t stored in the apartment itself, so make sure to explicitly request those before you arrive if you know you’ll need to use the couch bed. I received the code for the lockbox right at check in time, after sending the host a reminder that I still hadn’t received it, so be prepared to do that. But it’s an easy half mile walk to downtown.

No Communication
Zero communication from the host before we arrive. We would not have been able to get inside if a neighbor hadn't been home and called the host to find out what the lockbox code was.

Couldn't stay the night
Host communication was lacking from the beginning as we had still not received a message from them by the day before check in. I messaged the host at 11pm the night before asking for check in instructions, to which the host finally messaged with a lockbox code. The driveway is difficult to find and the host did not provide a description to locate it easily.
The driveway is narrow, steep and pitted and it was difficult to back out of the narrow parking spot as the only light on the house was motion activated. The unit had not been cleaned well. The furnishings appeared to be cast-off garage sale finds. The window blinds are beat-up and dusty, the couch is stained and uncomfortable and the only place to eat is a tiny island with uncomfortable cheap bar stools. As we were disgusted by the lack of cleanliness and accessibility for my medical equipment, and concerned about making several trips up and down the driveway in the dark, we left and messaged the host about the issues. They seemed to think it was our fault that we didn't verify that the unit would meet our needs (like cleaning and a grounded electrical outlet??)
They replied that they had many other positive reviews and seemed unconcerned with our poor experience.

A scenic hideaway near downtown Grass Valley
Stayed over Memorial Day weekend to celebrate the 94th birthday of my mom who lives in a nearby senior living facility. This location was perfect for driving into Grass Valley (a tad too far and hilly for a comfy walk from town).
The apartment was spacious with a nice, small kitchen and wonderful views of the pine lined mountains in the distance.
A great rate and comfy get away.

Worked Well For Our Needs
We moved to Grass Valley and needed an initial accommodation while we setup a home we leased. This small place worked great for our short stay.
