The “traditional Route 66 motel” descriptor is correct. For the price, I guess 3 out of 5 stars is about right. As for the positives, the location is within easy walking distance of restaurants/bars and the price is quite low compared to nearby options. The man at the desk was very friendly when we checked in. However, the room had some issues.. The sheets were pretty much just thrown onto the uncomfortable bed, the shower didn’t drain properly, and lighting wasn’t good. Another reviewer said their window didn’t latch and her husband had to rig up something to keep it shut. We had the same exact experience! The area seemed fine, but we weren’t comfortable with someone being able to slide the window right open. Breakfast options were just packaged donuts/muffins, but we ended up finding a really great breakfast cafe a 5 minute walk away. Struggled to choose 2 or 3 stars, but chose 3 due to the low price.
The sheets were clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything else needed some serious attention. Had to go get more towels. You could hear the neighbors. Location is OK but we still had to use the car to get most places.
Well, we paid less than $60 a night so we knew it wasn't going to be a high class establishment. Which it isn't. Loose light fittings, broken tap on shower, no kettle or coffee machine, old and faded furniture. But...the bed was clean and comfortable and it was warm (heavy snow overnight) and it's in a great position for a few minutes stroll to the old part of town and some really nice bars and breweries (try the Mother Road brewery and Altitudes bar). Nice diner next door. A real old fashioned grungy Route 66 original. You get what you pay for...
We were on a road trip and never knew when we’d be in what town, so I would come on TripAdvisor and look up the hotels in the town we wanted to stop in about half an hour before we got there, and book a room sight unseen. The reviews for this place sounded okay but we should have taken the hint when the GPS on my phone kept taking us somewhere else! We finally found the place and from the outside it looked a bit run-down but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. First thing we found was that our (ground floor) window didn’t latch. I think we’d gotten their last room and we were too tired to go look for another motel so my husband rigged up something to hold it shut. The neighborhood seemed pretty quiet so we didn’t particularly feel unsafe. The room seemed clean enough, although the bathroom wall had a huge hole around the shower head so the shower pipe flopped around when we used it. The bathroom didn’t seem terribly clean either. In the morning, I went to look at the “breakfast” in the lobby. It consisted of a jug of orange drink, a jug of apple drink, and assorted store bought “pastries” like Hostess or Little Debbie’s! I couldn’t find the desk guy to return the key so I went back to the room and helped my husband load the car. All of a sudden I turned around and the guy was standing literally about six inches behind me! We told him about the broken window latch and he took a cursory look at it and then basically begged me not to give them a bad review. All the while standing within just inches from me. Very unsettling.
We arrived to this hotel to have a base from which explore the area. The staff were incredible nice and helpful all the time. There was a breakfast included with coffee, juices (orange and cider), brownies, bagels ... really nice for the price of this hotel, which is on the Route 66! The room it was very clean and beds comfortable. Bathroom was big and a good shower. It is located near the road and for some people might appear a bit noisy in the morning but you are on the 66 route. We will definetely come back. Thank you!
Was dupped by favorable reviews on Tripadvisor. The place is a dump. Old interstate type motel. I would not and did not stay there. I would not walk on that carpet without shoes. My first inpression was not favorable and I inspected the room prior to check in and promply cancelled my reservation. Management was very pleasant however clientele was questionable and rooms were plain bad. It looks like they tried to put lipstick on a pig.
Rooms very comfortable, clean and the staff are very helpful. The reception man was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. The only thing that could be improved is the Wi-Fi... it didn't work in our room and we found the best place we to have it is when sitting in the reception.
We stayed here on our way to palms springs for two nights! We went to see the Grand Canyon and wanted to be able to explore flag staff by night! It was a great centrally located hotel to be able to explore the downtown/historic area! We had a great experience and time at the L.
We booked a room for a very good price. It looks like the pictures. Service from the manager was perfect. Helped me print tickets and gave me information about touristic places. Free wifi, about 5 different channels. Everything is close by (5min walks) Town center, places to eat, the station etc.
We didn't feel that comfortable in that motel, but it was alright for just one night. The breakfast area is in the same room as the reception is. So you will have company from the motel host while you are eating. There was no air-con and therefore it was really hot in the morning when we had brekky. It was great to have at least some muffins in addition to white bread with jam. We experienced that the guy didn't know his way around this village well. He pointed us in the wrong direction, which was a bit annoying. I believe people at the reception should know where the next Supermarket or convenient stores are.
