Alixares Hotel

Hotel is a very short walk to the Alhambra. It is also convenient to buses to the city center. Restaurant was so so. We had breakfast & dinner at the hotel. Hotel guests were supposed to get a discount on parking, but that wasn't true for us. Parking was very expensive.

close to the Alhambra. Good hotel for the price. shuttle into the old town was right down the street.

Hotel location is great and staff was helpful! Very comfortable stay

This is an older hotel that is directly across from the main entrance to The Alhambra. For a short stay it is a very good pick!

We booked this for the proximity to the Alhambra, which is mere minutes away. I was not aware, but they offer valet parking for 15.50 euros/24 hours which is very convenient. The buffet breakfast was 8 euros and has a wide selection to get you ready for a day of sightseeing. Our room was ready when we arrived but lacked towels; I was told it would be 30 minutes and it was actually more like an hour before they brought the full complement... but by that time I had tracked down a housekeeper who at least gave me one.

Good location for Alhambra. Air conditioning not great. Room needed updating. Nice pool.

TERRIBLE location if you are renting a car! We had to PAY a tourist guide from the Department of Tourism 10 Euros so that he could escort us while on his motorcycle!

Could pass as a 4-star hotel in an excellent tourist location, at the very gate of the Alhambra. But the management is limited, the restaurant awful, and there are not many people around to help. Pity the rooftop pool is tawdry and unheated. The place is really OK for an out of town resort, cheap too.

Next to the Alhambra in Granada. Just don't be confused by the two locations given in Mapquest. Call if you have any questions about how to get there.

Alhambra's entry is a short 5 minute walk from alixares which is important as is better to buy the ticket in the early morning. People start doing the line at 7 am though alhambra opens at 8 am. They have buffet for the 3 meals at a good price. You can leave your bags there if you have check out and pick them up later. A taxi to the renfe station was 8 euros.

cute rooms. windows that open. plenty of parking. little fridges to cool drinks. The location is fantastic. it's about 50 - 75 yards to the Alhambra entrance. There's also a fantastic pizza joint just down the street. The pool is great as well. Rooms are shaped differently, but we had a great time staying there. Just park the car and walk to the Alhambra. Also take the public bus straight into old town Granada for the sights.

Both the bedroom and bathroom were small and basic, but the location is a great base for visiting the Alhambra and the city of Granada for a short stay.

The hotel is pleasant and near the Alhambra but it is quite a distance from central Granada and the other attractions. The buffet meals were adequate but not fancy. One of our two rooms was spoiled by a smell of sewage. I think the was a leak in the drain line.

Cool hotel away from downtown. great location overall. easy parking. would stay there again. rooms where clean and staff was friendly. nothing bad to say.

The staff is wonderful and helpful. The breakfast is not the best I have had in Spain, but very good! The location could not be better! The only bad thing I can say is that I had some trouble with the WiFi. It worked most of the time, but would stop randomly.

Walking distance to the Alhambra (if you are planning on visiting Alhambra, make sure you buy the tickets before you get there as you might run in the problem on finding the tickets are sold out). Excellent service. If you get tired of the spaniard food which I doubt you will, you can always get a pizza delivered to your room, we did that one night and it was very good. Bring comfortable shoes as you will walk a lot especially up and down hills. Transportation from hotel to the center of town is very easy as you will find a bus stop within walking distance from the hotel. The only thing I didn't like that much was the bed, not that comfortable, but then, that is the same way for most of the old towns in Spain. Don't expect a bed that you will find even in a 3 stars US hotels.

If you like big busses in front of your hotel all the time, a very expensive place to park your car, the smell of sewage in your room and a hotel away from everything BUT the alhambra, this hotel is for you. It looks great online, but if you have a desire to see real spain this is NOT your hotel. Everything you do there is extra money. Parking cost over $20 per night. Traveling into town is usually a 20 minute commute. Do yourself a favor: Get a nice hotel in Granada (which is a beautiful city) and spend money ONE TIME on the easy bus to the Alhambra.

The hotel is literally across from Alhambra - which is great if that's your main reason for visit. However it's a bit of a hike to center of Granada. Goign to the center is all downhill so not a big deal - 15-20minutes. Coming back you will need to grab a taxi ~10 euro. The rooms are big and clean, there is a small but nice pool, and the location is very quiet. The staff spoke English very well and were helpful. There is free WiFi in the hotel but if you don't have a computer there is a computer in the lobby which is NOT free.
