Great location for the hotel and in all respects except 3 important elements the hotel was good. First be very aware it seems standard rooms have no external view - just face a very small internal well within the hotel. Web site should make this clear. If you are offered room 22 on any floor - don’t check in. We got 522. Room size was very good but it only had 2 very small windows facing into this well and no natural light. Unless you are on the higher floors you have no idea what the weather is like. We wasted a whole afternoon thinking the weather was poor (it had been raining heavily when we got back to the hotel late morning) only to find it had been brilliant sunshine. 2nd issue: reception staff, whilst polite only seemed to have one response to any question - no! To be told I shouldn’t have booked a standard room when I asked to be moved, didn’t help my feelings towards the hotel. 3rd issue was the bar - there wasn’t one. Well there was, but it had no drinks behind it and no staff behind it either. All this does seem very negative, but if you book a superior room with a sea facing aspect and they make it clear on their website that a standard room has no external view, so you know what you are getting, the location of the hotel does make it a great choice.
The hotel room was okay, clean. Beds, very hard. But the straff in the reseption were not at all helpful, they did not say anything, they didnt even welcome us when we arrived. They did not say good morning. I will never come back to this hotel. The staff working with cleaning, were very made a lot of noice, talked very load, we could hear them very clarely. Service; 0 Sleep quality, 1 Overall, 0
This is a very average hotel in all respects except the price, which was high(165 euro a night). The room was modest, and I paid extra for a balcony overlooking a side street! The bathroom had two thin towels per person. The staff on check in, both male and female could not raise a smile or even say welcome. One got the impression of poor management. The breakfast was also very ordinary. I have never stayed at this chain before and it will be avoided in future.
Recently stayed at this hotel and I must say it was not the four star hotel we were expecting. The hotel has got some good points but quite a few bad points. Good points.... the location is brilliant, right on the seafront. Beds, although two pushed together were really comfortable and had good bed linen. Breakfast was good, first time we have been anywhere that has a fresh orange juice machine, brilliant. They had a gluten free choice and made fresh omelettes. Now the bad points..... The hotel is lacking in character, it really is a drab, boring hotel in need of a complete refurbishment. The dining room furniture is dated and dirty. The bathroom to our bedroom was not very well planned and showed signs of mould and the toilet wasn't very clean. The Bar was non existent and when the restaurant opened at 19.30 they only offered a set menu each day with two choices, which was very limited. It is also worth noting that hygiene in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The same blue cloth was used constantly to clean tables and pretty dirty black table mats. All this did was transfer germs. Of particular concern was the attitude of one female member of reception staff on the day of our departure. I emphasise it was one member of staff. To explain, we were due to be collected for the airport at 17.10. At 17.20 the transport had not arrived so we asked the member of staff if they could contact Tui. We were told that we were probably in the wrong place and that we should go outside of the hotel, turn left then right ! At that point the transport arrived and my husband commented to the member of staff that it was silly to have been given misleading information. The member of staff denied any advice had been given. To be honest my husband lost his temper, the reception member lost her temper and really what occurred was an open argument in reception, totally unprofessional. Generally we had an absolutely great holiday but there was something lacking, it wasn't welcoming and two examples of this are:- On the first night we asked for a drink from the bar and we were told there were no staff to serve drinks in the bar. However, a few minutes later an entire what appeared to be a visiting Spanish football team did receive bar service? Secondly, there were no English channels on the television. I would question whether or not the hotel wants English guests.
Pros: the breakfast buffet is terrific. The rooms are clean. There are beach towels and adapters you can rent. Great view from beach front rooms. Cons: the customer service was not great, unhelpful and unfriendly mostly. The rooms don't look as nice as the photos.
Placed in front of the Playa Las Canteras in a perfect location. Rooms are good sized and clean. The staff are friendly in a nice atmosphere. Good Shopping is a 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Good value.
Hotel was ideally located for our 4 day break. Set on the beach front. My regret is that we did not book a room with a full sea view. Our room (406) had a partial sea view but it had no sun at any time of the day. However the room was kept nice and clean. Reception staff could have been friendlier. We arrived at 1pm to be told our room wouldn't be ready until 3pm. That was ok as they put our suitcases in a room for us and we went for a walk for a couple of hours. However when we went back we were told we had no room in our name. I told the receptionist we had already booked in with her colleague (who was standing next to her) 2 hours ago. She wanted to take copies of our passport for the 2nd time until i said her colleague had already done it a couple of hours ago. Lack of communication between the two receptionists didn't seem very professional!!! Good choice at breakfast, i particularly enjoyed the smoothies. One coffee machine took a bit of getting used to, i recommend using the one at the far end if you like a white coffee. I thought it was a good ideal to order cooked breakfast (egg, bacon, sausage) from the waiter but you could help yourself to a continental breakfast. Bacon left a bit to be desired though,as it was mainly fat. Overall an enjoyable stay for a short break.
This was our first - but not last - stay at NH Imperial Playa. Have visited Las Palmas many, many times over many years, but never stayed here Before. Had booked a double room with a balcony and seaview. Room was impeccably clean, so was the bathroom. Balcony with a great view of the Las Canteras beach, furnished with simple, rustic furniture. Beds a bit hard, as in most hotels we have stayed with on the Island, but you get used to it. Flat screen TV. Black out curtains. Some noise from the street and outdoor restaurants during weekend evenings, but not a big issue. Breakfast really good, really like the possibility to squeeze fresh oranges in the morning. Scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs&bacon available if you order, the rest is on the buffet. Only two elevators, that can be pretty busy at times. but this, too is OK. Staff at the reception desk helpful. Like everything and will be glad to come back again! Compared to hotels with equal classifications, we find the rooms better, while there are no facilities such as swimming pool or deck chairs or beach area (only service is a beach towel obtained after a deposit).
Situated directly on the seafront one could not wish for a better position. The reception staff are, shall we say, a little easily distracted and tend to talk to each other rather than at the client. Once we had got past reception we were not disappointed with the room. I would recommend an upgrade to a sea view though. The rooms are well furnished and just about everything one needs except for a kettle, cups and coffee etc. which is common in Spain. The breakfast is adequate and plenty of choice although we have had better. All told not a bad place and would recommend.
There are many really good things that I could say about this hotel. Location is fantastic and upgrading to a sea view was well worth the money. Staff were always polite and helpful. My room was very clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job with towels and bedding being changed regularly. The outstanding feature of the hotel was the breakfasts....great choice and taste. Now to the problem for me. There is a bar on the first floor, adjoined to the restaurant by a partition. The tables are laid up with place settings as if to eat only. The bar is manned only to serve you when you are picked up as being present there. After an evening out, I like to go back to my hotel and spend a little time in the bar chatting with other guests about the day, where they have been, and what they might recommend as being worth a visit. No one uses the bar in this hotel because it is always empty and unwelcoming in its set up. For many people, this would not be a problem, and they would have a good time at the Imperial. But for me, I would not use the hotel again.
