We had a very nice week here in June 2017. The hotel is very well set out and everything is of good quality. I was disappointed the restaurant had very few Vegan choices :( but the rest of the food was excellent quality. The staff make this good hotel a great hotel. Especially Luis (Breakfast), Jose, J.Martel, Miguel and Michaela (Pool Bar), and Juan (Front desk) - 10/10 for them all. Although not set up for small children, all the staff were brilliant with our 3yr old and helped make our holiday. The night time entertainment was really good and worth watching most nights. The taps in our room (119) definitely need replacing as they did not work properly and were very noisy. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place for couples, families or anyone visiting Gran Canaria!
Fantastic hotel with wonderful, friendly staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with great air conditioning. The pool was big and clean with plenty of sunbeds. The buffet breakfast and dinner was terrific, with lots of fresh food and plenty of choice. Highly recommended - we had a great week here.
Just spent two weeks here and I must say this is one of the best hotels we've stayed in, and we've been around a bit! The hotel is spotless, rooms are checked regularly to make sure guests are happy with the standard of cleaning. Food and restaurant is faultless, lots of choice, staff are so on the ball clearing away used crockery from your table and so so helpful ... reception can't do enough for you either; nothing was too much trouble. We're planning on coming back next year it was so good! Bringing extended family with us. We were here with sister and brother in law so we had company but other British couples here did comment that they found it a little lonely because this hotel is 90% German guests so it's difficult to strike up friendships/conversations. There is no animation team this time of the year till the height of the season when more kids are here so it was soooo piece full, just what we needed! One criticism would be the entertainment, there's a trio on who can't sing for toffee! Irritating voices. But apparently that is being looked at because of the negative feedback so may change shortly.
We had a nice stay and enjoyed our holiday so thanks. The staff were lovely and the pool area was very peaceful and relaxing. The food was pretty good and it's a good location. The showers were great. We would not return because : 1. The air conditioning is terrible, virtually a waste of time even on maximum so I would not recommend staying if it's very hot weather The ceiling fans in the rooms are a life saver. The manager and receptionists at our check in went from very friendly to very unfriendly when we had been waiting for our room over an hour only to be given one which the air conditioning was not working at all, when they got it going it was hardly worth the effort. They should just explain honestly to guests that the air conditioning in all the rooms is rubbish and is the same, so we did not feel we had been given a dud room. 2. The small fridge in the room is ineffective and does not cool drinks adequately. 3. The beds are uncomfortable. I like a firm mattress but these needed a topper to make them comfortable but as that was lacking they were not.
Perfect holiday! When I had something invconvenient it was resolved as quickly as possible. All the personal of the hotel was very friendly and helpfull, when needed. The roomservice gave everyday a new personal touch. My birthday got special attention of the complete staff! The dinner buffet differed each day and was extended. It is a hotel where you can find rest. I am very content with my staying in this hotel. I was not interested in a beach nearby, so walking stairs to come at the beach was no problem fo me. I had no children with me, there were just a few kids under the visitors. I suppose they are welcome but I assume they are expected to respect the rest other visitors are looking for. Playing in the swimmingpool is not allowed, just swimming. There is also a small pool for little kids. Activities that are organized are for middleaged or elder people. Come here to find rest, good food and friendly and dedicated staff.
Great start of holiday with a glass of Champagne during the chech in process. Most of staff were really friendly, but you can feel that German are more appreciated than English speakers from other countries. Room is quite standard, cleaning is done really well. It was really nice that the anniversary day was observed stylishly. Half board was worth of money. Great view and location close by Yumbo shopping center. Quite many shopping places and centers were already closed this time even there were a lot of tourusts... :(
Arrived at the Riu Palmeras and we were happy to be greeted so well with a glass of Champagne! The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The pluses include fabulous sea view and balcony overlooking the pool area! Unfortunately being an older property it lacks certain expectations for a 4Star hotel 1. No coffee or tea in the room 2. Buffet for dinner very repetitive and not really Spanish food more watered down to suit the various clients from Europe 3. No iron or board in the room it has to be requested 4. Extra charges to use a Safety Deposit box of €14 for the week We are travellers and expect certain standards it's such a shame as I was really looking forward to staying in a Riu hotel Suggest you give the hotel an uplift! Thank you for the positive aspects but I'm sorry we will not be back
Our stay here was great. The staff are all so friendly especially Fran who was always so helpful. The food was excellent and always hot and freshly cooked. We had a great room 116 which had a really large balcony and sun beds , great for a change from the pool which was also great.
We had a couple of cockroach in the garden bungalow. Other than that and the aircon it was a great room. We set the aircon to 16 c but the lowest it got was 22. The hotel has a shallow but large pool and enough loungers with sunshades some in the shade of trees. The dinning is buffet and it is sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for. There is always a number of veggie choices and meat. Each night there is a new flambe you may need to call stop as the booze is poured on. The hotel is a two block walk and a set of steps from the beach. There are a set of cafes and bars across the road from the hotel and a small supermarket behind them. There are two shopping centres 5 blocks away.
Is a good hotel with all the qualities that you need for having a good time on your vacation. The food was really good, except for breakfast that being good, could be improved. It was always clean and has a good location, near the beach. The pool is also really nice. The most negative point for me was that there was no free wifi, you had to pay. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay here.
