Absolutely nothing but praise for this hotel. The food was great and (even though I don't like waste) being a buffet service it was good to see left over food thrown away so no chance of contamination. Public areas had a lovely welcoming ambience, the staff were friendly and the pool was large, scenic and the whole area around it was well maintained. In the evening there was soft lighting and low key entertainment on the terrace but it stopped dead on 11pm so great for people looking for peace and quiet. I was on a group holiday but I would find this hotel very comfortable as a solo guest and would certainly return as an independent traveller.
Very much enjoyed our one week stay at this hotel. We were particularly impressed with the quality and variety of the meals provided. We stayed at the hotel on a half board basis and were pleased with all the meals. It is a very comfortable hotel and the staff are particularly friendly and helpful.
Food great - even hot (which seems to be unusual in the Canaries). Room was not so good, even had to pay to rent the safe. Wifi free in the lobby and outside, but too eak for the bedroom. Super meal in the Gourmet restaurant, Sir William, although service very slow considering that we had pre-ordered - very well cooked - exactly as ordered. Great position for access to the promenade, the dunes, and the sea. Good balcony with two sun loungers, two chairs, a table and a pull out washing line. Nice hotel with good facilities - need to walk along an outside, covered walkway from lift to rooms. Seems to also have some cottages/units for self catering and family units.
We went here for a week of relaxation. It's a nice hotell which is tidy and clean. The personal is all over kind and puts service and customers above all. The hotell has a good location for both the beach and the city. The guests are mostly seniors and grownups, so it's a calm hotel. I would absolutely consider returning here.
The Riu Palmeras is a nice hotel, catering mostly to couples. As a family, we had a family room/bungalow out by the pool area. The room was very nice in two stories. The best thing about the hotel was the restaurant. Both breakfast and dinner were very diverse and tasty, and varied quite a bit throughout the week, though all bread was very dry. The waiters were very friendly. The pool area was nice, though not very sunny in January, with many palms. Best and worst: + Nice rooms + Excellent restaurant + Easy walking distance to the beach - Very hard beds - Some cockroaches - You can google the master code for the safe in five seconds, and so can anyone else
Stayed there at the start of November with my 22 year old daughter. I will start of with the best bits which are the staff. The guy I wish I could remember his name that took our cases when we arrived was just amazing. Friendly funny a credit to that hotel. Reception staff, maids and pool guy great too. Did feel the staff in the restaurant were more friendly to the Germans and Scandinavians. Only ate twice in the restaurant for dinner as felt the food was cold by the time you got back to your table, same at breakfast cold scrambled eggs, cold beans and sausages. Thank goodness there was a supermarket nearby. Aye out mostly at places down at the beach. I had a fall in the restaurant due to someone spilling something on the floor. No other guests came to my aid just looked at me lying there staff too. Manager came over clearly seeing I was really hurt but felt he couldn't have really cared. Had to cancel my trip that day as my legs and wrist were agony. Manager took our room number but not even a little gesture was put in room which would have been nice. Love the Riu hotels but sadly let down by this one.
We stayed in one of the 2-level bungalows. The lower floor is a salon with a sofa with a retractable bed, but the sofa itself is long enough to sleep an adult. The salon ha a small TV set and an (empty) refrigerator. Upstairs is the bedroom with double bed an a larger TV, large closet and drawer, enough storage fpr your cloths and a safe which is locke with the "secret" code 123456. The walls are rather thin, so you may want to keep your moaning low. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Though they have active pest control, I killed 2 small roaches in the bathroom. Though there are plenty of food shacks and restaurants all over, the breakfast and dinner buffets are exquisite and mainly catering to european guests. If a guest doesn't wasnt to miss her high fat, high carb, low prot food, they have it as well and it might be enjoyed to the tunes of Alanis Morisette (you know which one). The pool is not heated and senior guest with ailments better book their stay during hot season. The gym is small and good enough for senior guests to perhaps raise their appetite for the buffet, but don't expect to become an athlete. The staff was troughout friendly from receptionist to room maid.
Brilliant hotel. Really good food with plenty of choice and very well presented. the room was more than adequate and thoroughly cleaned daily. The staff were all extremely pleasant and pleased to help you. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. I only have one minor complaint though. On the TV piped feed it was all German stations. I realise that at least 95% of the guests were of German / Scandinavian origin but there was a few English speaking people there also. I was not there to sit in my room and watch TV but when getting dressed in the evening or waking up in the morning it would have been nice to get at least BBC1 and Sky news. Just to keep abreast of the news in the UK. Apart from that... great hotel and staff.
We stayed at this hotel for a week at the end of September and were very impressed. The staff are amazing. They are efficient and professional but friendly and welcoming too. The management team were present every day and would chat to guests at dinner or around the grounds and we really felt they wanted to be sure we enjoyed our holiday with them. The food at breakfast and dinner was varied and tasty. There is a system of two sittings in the evening in the restaurant which initially we thought might be quite restrictive but we felt it helped everything run smoothly. You have your own table throughout your stay too. The bedrooms were traditional rather than contemporary and all overlook the pool and grounds. We found we could sit on our balcony at night with drinks and watch the entertainment if we wanted to instead of sitting down at the bar. The entertainment was the usual middle of the road fare except for The Jersey Boys act who we really enjoyed and were of a more professional standard than the other artists. The hotel was very clean and towels were changed daily and rooms cleaned and replenished. We found the beds to be rather hard for our liking but we requested extra pillows and that helped. The pool area is clean and although we felt sunbeds were quite close together we never had trouble getting them and there were plenty of parasols and small tables between. There is waiter service around the pool as well as there being a pool bar serving snacks and drinks. We loved the hotel and the staff though we wouldn't return because we weren't impressed with the resort of Playa del Ingles. It has a seedy side to it with swingers clubs and strip bars. We like resorts that have an old town and this is a series of concrete precincts circa 1960/70s.
Stayed with my grown up son, can't fault the hotel or the staff. Room clean and tidy, beds very comfortable, food excellent. Swimming pool area clean, nice pool bar with marvellous staff. Will return with wife soon!
