We had an amazing family vacation! Loved all the activities at the hotel and opportunities for various others beyond the hotel. They have a great staff! Thank you for living up to the reviews!
Recently spent 3 nights with the family at Sleeping Giant. Overall the hotel has more of a honeymoon / couples feel vs. family -- but for a family looking to take advantage of the adventure tours it was great. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, particularly the guest manager Eugene and the restaurant staff. The property is beautiful but know that it's a bit isolated. Will take you 30-90+ minutes to get to Belmopan or other locations such as San Ignacio or Belize City. The hike to the hotel's observation tower is worth the walk on a clear day as the views are exceptional. Also highly recommend the cave tubing tour which was a unique and enjoyable experience for the whole family. Food is good and reasonably priced by US standards -- but keep in mind that eating off the property will require a car and at least 30 min travel time.
I thought the lodge was absolutely beautiful, overlooking the mountains, on the river, with beautiful tropical gardens. We stayed at the river house and it was absolutely beautiful with a large balcony and beautiful furniture with a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. The food was delicious but very pricey. Just having breakfast and dinner there for two added up to be quite a bit with all the taxes and service fees. Also, at the end of your stay they requested we fill out a form for tips for front desk, wait staff, grounds keepers, etc. I thought this was unnecessary to request this. I understand the wait staff deserve tips but the others should not be expected. Overall this place was perfect, but just pricey in the end.
