A last minute change of work plans required an overnight stay.On arrival the parking was a little confusing, and surprisingly busy but a place was found.Great welcome and usual clean and comfortable room, I don't generally sleep well when away, but this was an exception.Usual HIE breakfast selection, but fresh and tasty so fine.It would make a great base for the surrounding area, but you do need a vehicle given the location.

yes i finished up going to gloucester, lovely hotel, staff very nice, on the down side, they dont do meals, only pizza's and i cant eat pizza's. they can do chips from where you get pizza's but who are going to pay nearly £4 for chips, thats with delivery. no thankyou

On our 7th stay here, this time visiting family over the new year period. As usual the room was clean, comfortable and quiet - we had one facing away from the main road this time. [Plus Points] Easy access from the M5. About 3 miles from city centre Free and adequate parking. Included breakfast with hot food - usually beans, eggs and sausages. Other meals available from good pub next door. (Quiet) dogs are usually accepted. [Minus Point] There was a deal of noise from the building work going on around the hotel during the period we were there - though this was only during daylight hours. All in all a very pleasant and welcome break once more at this hotel.

We booked online and got a good rate for a weekday evening. We'd stayed before so knew what to expect. It's a standard hotel with basic amenities but perfectly comfortable. Our bathroom was showing it's age a little as there was lots of soap scum around the bottom of the shower but otherwise it was perfectly clean. Drinks are expensive in the small and sterile bar area but the pub next door is a lot more pleasant for drinks and has an open fire for atmosphere. Breakfast has a limited choice of hot food plus cereals etc and, like the rooms, is perfectly acceptable for the price that you pay. This hotel is fine for a one or two night stay, which I expect that is what most people do, but you probably wouldn't want to stay for a week or more, in my opinion.

Our second visit as hotel is ideally placed for visiting the local area. Reception and welcome was friendly, the room spotlessly clean, the wall heater worked efficiently. Comfy bed, in fact almost missed breakfast which ran until 9.30am as so snug and warm! Breakfast was fine, although I did miss the grapefruit/orange segments, however the addition of the porridge pots was welcome. Hope it was just you were out of stock and they haven't been taken off the menu. Plenty of free parking, would stay again.

Stayed at this Hotel in December. At that time, I was blown away at how professional, friendly and helpful all the staff were. I was blown away when I saw the room. Very well kept, clean and welcoming. The bar and dining areas were also high quality and the hotel is situated in a good location, with easy access to the M5/M4. Since this stay I also stayed at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford. It was only then that I REALLY appreciated, how good this hotel was. I will NEVER go back to the Kassam Stadium PIE, but will, enthusiatically, come back to this hotel, any time I get the chance......In fact, I just booked 3 days next week! :)

See previous comment regarding this once great hotel, stayed for years but a change in staff this place has gone to a all time low, know most of staff after the years I stayed there and the amount of colleagues I put to this hotel, After a call to make another booking I got some jumped up young girl who had the managers and personality of a pea pod and trying to explain what was required and to check previous booking was informed this is matterless and what is required, explained that I needed rooms booking and informed the hotel was quiet so no issue then the next breath we were full, Can't believe the service after all these years, Would love a call from Felicity ( flit) Shocking, found new place now big loss for holiday inn

The staff at this hotel know what you need from this hotel. I asked them to find me a fish resturant as my colleague is on a strict diet and they found me just what was needed. Great rooms and good choice of breakfast.

I've stayed here a couple of times while in the area on business and will continue to use it. The hotel is on a business park a mile or so from the M5. The hotel does serve some pizzas in the evening, but there is also a pub next door (which I haven't tried yet) and a couple of miles down the road is a Tesco and also a Miller & Carter Steakhouse which I've used a couple of times. The staff at the hotel are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are fairly well appointed. There's no free water, but there are tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. There's also the TV, shelves, coat hangers etc.. The bed is comfortable and I have slept well. The bathroom is functional but has everything you need. The room decor is probably best described as an acquired taste (reds and blues) but is ok. The inclusive breakfast has a hot and cold buffet. The fruit juice is nice. The bread is good. The sausages and bacon can look a little anaemic (i.e. not browned) but they taste ok, as do the scrambled eggs. At around £60-80 a night (depending when you book) including breakfast it's pretty good value.

fairly typical of an express, clean, tidy. Beds comfy enough. breakfast was just okay for a buffet. theres a good pub nextdoor for dinner and an Asda half a mile away for whatever else you need. staff very helpful and pleasant.
