Stayed 2 nights split by the weekend. Situated within walking distance of the old town, but a bus service drops you off in the old town for £1. Parking available underground and costs 14 euros a day. Staff very helpful. The room was large, a/c very efficient but got cold when left on very low temp. The breakfast was buffet style with lots of local choice. Pool also available.
This is a great hotel, the staff without exception were exemplary particularly the young lady at the roof top bar. I was travelling with my dog and this was no problem, it is a ten to fifteen minute easy level walk to the city centre but is very simple to find with on site easily accessible parking.
Great stay here. Very welcoming staff at desk. Rooms were comfortable and clean and nice size. Having a pool on roof was good and a great view. Two things that we didn’t like was that the bar at the pool had no one serving as it was out of season so wasn’t manned - we had to get lift up and down to our room for mini bar. Other issue I had was that I had a bad fall in the bath as the glass screen comes quite far along the bath and the hand rail is set back quite far. So when you climb in the bath to get to shower then you need to reach in far to get the handle and I slipped. I was badly bruised and very sore so just wanted to highlight to the staff that this might need looked at as we didn’t have time to let reception know when leaving.
The Double Tree Hilton is situated about 15 mins max from the old town, (which is amazing) nice Gluten Free Café by the River. Also the hotel has a nice pool on the roof with a cosy bar, the staff are very helpful.
I will start with the positives, comfortable bed, large room, great roof with pool and small cocktail bar. The negatives - I would not stay here if it is going to be hot outside. The front desk controls the air and cuts it off during the day. You have to call the front desk when you are back at your room to have the AC activated again. Also our curtains had gross stains on them and the sink had lots of mold around the back.
Stayed at the hotel with my girlfriend for 4 nights, short break in the lovely Catalan town of Girona. All staff, without fail were courteous, friendly, extremely helpful and patient. Couldn't fault the service in any way. Air Con was superb, room & bathroom quality excellent and the bed very comfortable! Loved the location, 20 minute walk into town is just perfect. We thought the rooftop pool and bar were great, yes pool is small but just right to have a dip and cool off if you want to. Wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.
We stayed in Aug. Air con in rooms is good. No view from our balcony but it was somewhere to sit which was nice. Lovely pool on roof but need to get up there when it opens to get a lounger. Breakfast is good - good range of foods. No gym but my husband used one down the road which is free for hotel users and he was very impressed with the facility. It’s a realistic 20 minute stroll to reach the river in the old town. Bit of a trek twice a day so you need to be well prepared. Most restaurants not open till 8pm but there is a great supermarket 2 mins over the road with great choice for snacks. Everything is closed Sundays so prepare in advance. Staff in hotel are great 👍 really helpful and attentive. Great city break destination if you don’t mind a bit of walking.
We are regular guests at the Hilton and some of its associated Hotels. Most are very good but this one is very average. Checkin staff are good but that is where it stops. The pool in the photo is highly exaggerated and is, in fact, not much bigger than a plunge pool. Build quality of the hotel is cheap and nasty throughout. Rooms are already showing severe signs of wear. Try to avoid eating there as the food and table service is well below par. Parking is an extra cost as is breakfast.
I am a bit surprised at some of the rave reviews. This is a modern hotel and pleasing to the eye but the rooms are not that comfortable. Three chairs in the room, modern in design but non comfortable to sit in. You may say you only sleep in the room, but for us staying during a heatwave we needed to return to the hotel to rest after a day of site seeing before going out for a meal in the evening. The walk into the centre isn't a huge distance but in hot weather 4 times a day perhaps too much. We chose the hotel for the rooftop terrace and pool. However, there were only 5/6 sunbeds, always occupied and no shade, so we were unable to use it. The hotel is situated in a residential area at the side of a dual carriageway. We experienced considerable traffic noise. A large Mercadona supermarket is opposite and due to open at the end of July. Whilst there were 1 or 2 local bars around the corner, they were not appealing and there were no restaurants. We regretted choosing this hotel over options closer to the centre of the city. We had requested a quiet room and were given one next to the lift. We had one or two problems and communication with reception by phone was extremely difficult, we ended up going down. Breakfast was poor quality for a 4* hotel. The coffee was undrinkable. The bread, however was really good, fresh, often warm.
From train station to there, walking distance only 9 mins. The room is big and tidy, the bed is good for sleep. Easy to walk to old town area for site seeing, and easy to walk to "Ribes del Ter Market" at morning. Some bar restaurants are near by at night, you can find a way to eat cheap and fast way after 23:00 The rooftop swimming pool also nice to experience during summer. Good for holiday .....
