If you like prostitutes and drugs, this is the place for you! There is a plethora for your amusement and when you're completely drugged out, you won't mind the filthiest room ever with piss stained walls and a lovely view of dead pigeons and even more prostitutes from your barred, jail cell like window! A hotel nearly impossible to find, with nearest parking at least 600 - 1000 meters away, the only way to find the place is to ask for directions, or get lost and lucky. The hotel lobby is the cleanest, most presentable part of the hotel. The minute you take the steps up to your room - NO elevator/lift - you start to get a feeling for the horror within. The pictures on this site have been clearly doctored up and photoshopped. Impossible to miss the yellow, piss stained walls and crud. Bars on all windows, our hotel room view was that of a narrow alley with 3-4 "working girls" and a dead pigeon hanging centimeters away from the window - air freshner perhaps? It was impossible to stay in the room and I laughed at the situation as I had booked the room for its inexpensive price and photos which showed something "decent" for a night's stay while I awaited my morning cruise. I was honestly afraid to touch the bed given the state of the room. I seriously contemplated for a moment, but then refused to spend a night is such a nightmarish atmosphere and ruin the start of my vacation. I checked out and paid for the night in full, and found more acceptable last minute arrangements.
Hotel located in perfect location very close to main attractions in Town. Room was clean and tidy, without air condition what was dreadful. By mistake booked room without bathroom had to go outside my room to have a shower but bathroom was small but ok.
BED BUGS (in photo)!!! At first, our room couldnt be opened with the key Because the lock was broken, so we got another room. Bathroom was dirty, it was even green somewhere. Hotel is also situtated in terrible area, we couldnt sleep Because of the noise from the street, there were also prostitutes and dangerously looking guys, I wouldnt like to be here alone even for a second. I really strongly dont recommend this “hotel”. The only positive thing was Genovas Aquarium nearby. But you could sleep in front of it on the ground for free and would be much more satisfied...
Perfect localization and cheap. That’s enough to call it good choice for sleeping. A bit creepy neighborhood but unless you are not alone in the middle of a night it should be fine. We were surprised by breakfast: croissant, Genova pie, juice, yoghurt and coffee for 2,50€
My boyfriend and I stayed at hotel genziana for Easter weekend. We arrived around 5pm, having called the hotel before for advice on where to park! My boyfriend had been to Genova years previous but this was my first time. The car Park was located at the port and was really quick to get to the hotel. I hadn’t really thought about what it would be like but it’s good to know beforehand so you have an expectation. There are a lot of little streets that can be quite daunting once it gets dark. This being said, these are everywhere around the city not just where this hotel is. I would highly recommend this hotel if you need a good location and a clean room to sleep! Make sure you request a room with a bathroom which I did not and had to share but we never came across anyone else and it was super clean! The staff were incredible, left us Easter eggs, gave us recommendations, helped my boyfriend when he locked our keys in the car! Prepare yourself for some noise but I think this would be around the whole of Genova city centre with a location like this! I wouldn’t really recommend if you have children not for the hotel but for the street you need to go down to get to it! Again this being said they are all over the city so it doesn’t make a huge difference! The location is so handy we constantly came back and forth from sight seeing to go to the toilet and or change! Highly recommend if you need somewhere easy, good value and friendly to go to!
You get what you pay for is exactly right about this hotel. But I will say this the staff were absolutely great, the room was just a room, clean no frills, the location was accessible by foot only but it was to be expected in this old part of town. Music from a wedding a few doors down and some jungle drums resinated around this hotel until about midnight.
Stayed for one night, thought would be nothing wrong to sleep one night even in mention of bad comments. We were wrong. Small dark room on the first floor, thin walls, window with graters made possible to hear and see great ammount of sitting on the streets afroamericans and girls with dark souls even at 4 p.m. Awful wi-fi. Were so glad to get away the next morning. Pay more, really, but never stay here.
Stayed one night during a drive through trip. Had a twin room, with shared bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean, and you get what you basically pay for. However, it was a very warm period and the room did not have any air con. We had one standard floor fan to share between the two of us - it did not cut it. And as for the neighbourhood, well that's an entire chapter on its own. Although Genoa (as Italy in general) is generally safe place for tourists, with friendly locals, this area made me still feel very uncomfortable.
There’s a lot of negative reviews on here about his hotel, but it really is a budget hotel and the saying goes ‘you get what you pay for’. For me, at €40/Night for a twin room was absolutely fine. We shared a bathroom with others and didn’t really notice the outside noise much. There was no air con and August is pretty hot in Italy so this was a mistake on our part. The location is a little seedy but not dangerous. Italy is a pretty safe country (bar the driving) and the groups of people on the street and the prostitutes (legal) don’t generally bother anyone.
Broken bed. Broken shower. Broken toilet door. Worst pillows ever. That isn't even the worst part of the hotel. You cannot get to the hotel without walking small dark alleys that contain groups of young men trying to get your attention or prostitutes looking for work. Have to be back at the hotel by nightfall when the loud music from outside starts and doesn't finish till late. Avoid
