This budget hotel is virtually above the train station, walking transfer is approx 5 minutes up a set of stone steps opposite the station entrance. Basic but functional, it is a 20 minute walk to Genoa's main piazza, bars & restaurants. Very good guest wi-fi but barely adequate continental breakfast.
This is the second time I've stayed at this budget hotel and won't return simply because of the very lumpy and uncomfortable 'boxspring' I slept on. There are brighter rooms in this five storey building and I wonder if they are only for executives, but both times I have been sent to the far back end of the first floor. The bathroom was fine with a very small shower space. Breakfast was standard fare. Smoking is permitted in some rooms because I could smell it in the corridor. I had no problem with noise except for the morning construction just outside my room! The staff was congenial. All in all, a little overpriced for what it is and I suggest you shop around for better in Genova because there are lots of budget hotels.
Stayed here for 2 nights, very central, next to the Principe Railway station. Room basic but clean with good views of town. Ensuite shower room small but adequate. Fridge and safe didn't work. Breakfast was continental and good value. Overall good value for money.
This hotel is about 2 minutes walk from the main railway station and close to the old part of the town. The staff were helpful. My single room was of adequate size and clean. My friends' rooms were over looking the railway line and although they could hear the occasional train they were not bothered by them. The breakfast was adequate.
Hotel just short walk up hill from railway station, nice choice of food for continental breakfast. Rooms cleaned and towels changed, beds made each day. Terraces to sit and enjoy the views. shame there isn't a bar to get a drink to enjoy the view with.
We were in Italy to participate in an international walk in Arenzano on the Rivera, about 15-20 km from Genoa. We opted to stay in Genoa as it was significantly cheaper than in Arenzano (which was pretty well booked up) and an easy 35 minute train ride from Genoa. Hotel Bellevue was right next to the train station making this a very easy "commute". The hotel really surprised us. Though it was old, it had a very updated feel to it (other than the elevator which was very quaint but worked well). The air-conditioning worked great (it was a very hot spell at the time), our hand washed laundry dried quickly, the beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and well designed for our 5 night stay, and we heard very little train or traffic noise though we were facing the train station. The staff were very accommodating in bringing out breakfast early so we could make our early train connections. Breakfast was mostly of a continental form with fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, cold meat and cheese, toast, pastries, juicy, and coffee. We did get hard boiled eggs on one or two occasions, but this could have been because we needed to eat earlier than the designated breakfast time. The hotel was also only about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the "old" city. It made for a great location to visit historic Genoa, the marina, and the aquarium. For the price we paid, we felt this hotel was well worth the value. A very good find.
Good location near train station. Privet parking place 15€/day. Good basic breakfast. We get for four people two rooms with share bathroom and with huge terrace with the look to the sea and to the town.
I work remotely and had minor issues with the wifi when I first arrived. The staff was accommodating and the hotel was very clean. The breakfast was good but not a lot of choices. It is included, so I have no complaints. Can't beat the location, especially if you are traveling by train.
The ambient is really noisy (cars, ships, trains) and the bed was really noisy too which made it difficult to sleep. August attracts ants and mosquitos. Breakfast was below average even for the price range (only standard individually packed cheese in a Italian hotel!) and nothing hot/cooked. You'd be better off with a 3€ breakfast menu from McDonald's. We had to leave early so we were told the breakfast would open at 7am... none was there by 7:15 so we had to leave with empty stomachs... It is indeed close to the station (1 minute walk) and close to Genoa centre (2 km), but beware the streets are extremely dirty and generally the city itself! You do get a view of the sea port though
The hotel has the best breakfast buffer ever! It is also close to public transportation. There are a lot of souvenir shops and restaurants within walking distance. Even a Catholic Church nearby. The owner went out of his way to accommodate us.
