My daughter's school in Canada booked 12 rooms in September 2017 (May 2018 trip), for their once in a lifetime 2 week trip to France. The teacher's organizing the trip had nothing but problems with this hotel and received word that one of the rooms had been given away 4 days before the trip, and then told that their entire reservation could be cancelled without notice. At the last minute, they decided to cancel and move to another hotel. As a parent, I'm pretty disappointed to hear that and Campanile will be crossed off any future travel plans.
Campanile Nimes Centre is streching it. We weren’t prepared for a 20 minutes walk to the sights. Good parking, though. Dull rooms and breakfast. Tired and smelly rooms. Like a 30 year old place. Not for us.
informal hotel but good staff , clean and well maintained for an older hotel. i had a quiet room as I was on the third floor. Close to city center but not downtown yet close to main highways and train station
There are good & bad things about the hotel. It probably deserves a 2.5 rather than a 2 rating but can't bring myself to giving it a 3. Positives? Nice reception area. Friendly staff. Air con that works in the room. Comfy beds with clean sheets. Good shower. 20 minute walk to the Nimes Arena. Cons? The decor in the room is extremely tired. My wife described it as being like an American 'murder motel', the sort of thing you see in films where serial killers hide out to avoid the police. The tiled floor wasn't very clean. There was a stale damp smell in the bathroom. The 20min walk to the Nimes Arena will take you past a few prostitutes by the train bridge arches (but to be fair they weren't aggressively touting their business so in fact were not an issue - just maybe not ideal for kids to see. Sorry, I didn't get a price list off them). I'd spent the previous night in a UK Premier Inn & as much as it's easy to slag off that budget hotel chain you know what you're going to get. Campanile isn't pretending to be a top end resort; it's a budget hotel. But for approximately £80 per night it's not THAT cheap & it felt a long way off the average Premier Inn I've stayed in. Needless to say, my wife was unamused at my choice of hotel!
May 2017 . I ' ve been in many Campanile Hotels , this one is the worst of all . The Staff was very friendly , that is all . The Room was clean , but small . The Groundfloor looks like a Prison . The Peoples walking next to the Window .
Hotel Campanile – Nimes Date of visit – 9 February 2017 Fairly easy to find and within walking distance of Nimes. Plenty of street parking and if you are lucky there might be a space immediately in front of the hotel - street parking is free. Allocated rooms on the 3rd floor at the front overlooking the main road. There is a lift as well as stairs. The doors are locked at night and access is by keycode. The rooms are a good size with a king size double bed. The bathroom is a good size too, towels and shower soap is provided. A kettle and supplies for making tea/coffee are provided. There is a TV and free WiFi that works well. Everywhere is clean and well looked after. There is a Lidl only 5 minutes walking from the hotel.
A convenient place...! Staff are pleasant on arrival and luckily spoke English as embarrassingly my school boy French has started to fail me.. Room are a typical Campanile A bit "Billy Basics" but certainly good enough as a crash pad. Did not eat in the restaurant but it certainly looks good. Overall not bad
Comfortable and clean. A budget hotel with your own front door. Free insecure parking avail or secure at 5 euros a night. They have a restaurant attached which has quite a nice menu with different priced set meals.
Acceptable stop as part of a journey through France. Conveniently located hotel but you'll need to check it on on streetview so you know what you're looking for. Gated car park is tucked away up a side street behind hotel. The rooms are functional and clean ; the hotel does have an unusual 70's motel set up about it but once you get over that everything works. The staff are very pleasant and multi-lingual and the restaurant is a delight. They offer buffet options that are very popular , a number of French locals were dining whilst we were there and the food was excellent. All in all - a nice budget hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights. Free local parking.(secure parking is 5 euros) 24 hour front desk and lift. English spoken. Well designed rooms with space for everything. Liked the access from an open space...we were able to move our chairs outside and watch the world go by. Good wi fi and the air con worked well. On bus route as well for the city centre or at least a 20 minute walk. McDonalds next door and also a boulangerie and carrefour market. Would stay again
