First the good news - the rooms are great and very clean. It's next door to Wanda Plaza so finding somewhere to eat and shop is no issue. Most of the staff are very professional and check out was smooth. Now the bad news - on arrival they wanted RMB3000 deposit when the total room charge was going to be about RMB2000. I know this is normal practice in many hotels in China but when they have a credit card imprint why the deposit. Then they mixed up the guest names and my room was in someone else's name. Having a drink in the lounge and charging against my room - "well that's not your name". Finally sorted it out but there were a few other issues such as the concierge appeared to no little about places of interest or how to get there. To me concierge service is important. And the breakfast - there's lots of it but most is of average presentation. The eggs are fried and then left warm if you're lucky. Only a small selection of dumplings and not much fresh fruit. Back to good. It wasn't a total disaster and as I said most of the staff were great. But a few others let down the team. Finally I know I'm in China and my Mandarin is non-existent but staying at a five star hotel you expect a degree of English proficiency. I'll stay again when in Fuzhou s I'm sure this was a one off but hopefully with some improvement.
Stay one night at this hotel, was located in a very vibrant downtown area. The room was very spacious and luxury. Our room ad nice view to city and the river. The bath tub is huge and can be see through from the room. Would definitely recommend to anyone to say when visiting Fuzhou.
Stay there fro one night. The price was quite cheap but the service level was just average as well. You paid for what you get. The kettle in my room was not working at all. The decor of the room is getting worn down. Overall an average hotel.
Very nice hotel, located just beside Minjiang, Fuzhou. Fantastic view. There is also a shopping mall just right beside the hotel. Nice and big room. Very good service from the staffs. Value for money. 1 slight disappointment as this is the first time I stay in this hotel, no introduction of the room. it took me sometime to familiarize.
I like the Westin chain of hotels, but the quality in China varies. Perhaps it is because there seems to be plenty of high end hotels and the occupancy rate is not always very good. Nice decoration, large and clean rooms, good & friendly service, well spoken English on the service express (room service) telephone. I like to have a drink after work at the hotel bar, but this bar did not stock a single brand of bourbon. Breakfast selection is mediocre at this Westin, no orange juice, no grapefruit juice, basic Chinese breakfasts. For dinner I ordered the pan fried salmon with potatoes (& herbs), but received more something that was deep friend salmon with deep fried soggy hash browns. Not something I would have expected from a Westin Kitchen. After I complained about this, they did give me the dinner for free, but that was not what I was after when you look forward to have a good meal.
Nice room & prompt service. Poor choice of dining venues in hotel. Next door Wanda Plaza offer inexpensive choices. Breakfast buffet area have badly stained chairs & carpet. Food choices for breakfast are subpar for the price charged..
Currently here for a few days for a wedding. Impressive hotel with good service and good value for money. Rooms are very large and grand and offer a lap of luxury to those visiting. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Great opportunity to rest and enjoy the accommodations. They have a grand reception area with musical entertainment at nights in a restaurant right beside the counter. Breakfast is great with a good variety between western and traditional meals.
The Westin Fuzhou Minjiang is a nice hotel. The location is good and there are a lot of food options in the nearby Wanda Plaza. However, the hotel seems to be a bit old and the rooms need to be updated/renovated.
I initially stayed at Hilton Garden in Fuzhou but after 3 nights decided to move to Westin. Stayed for a total of 5 nights. The good: nice lobby, conveniently located, walking to shopping mall. I was give a room with a great view of the Mingjiang river. The not so good: while the room was nicely appointed, the furniture and wall cover could use a makeover. It took me a long time to figure out I was supposed to use the compression cup to make coffee and after a couple of trials I gave up. Why could they provide a good and old Mr. Coffee? The bad: while most staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful, much to be desired on their training. The breakfast service was the worst. They are way understaffed, and few staff know how to keep up with the guests. Food were lukewarm, not promptly restocked. The coffee/latte makers were a joke. Again, a good and old coffee maker would make a huge difference.
