Hi Best western, you have a very comfortable hotel with good beds, pillows, well appointed clean rooms and wonderful staff thank you! But, at RMB54 for a coffee, in your cute coffee shop in your lobby! Leaves sour taste is left in our mouth. This coffee cost is maybe RMB5-10 why charge so much?
Location: 10 mins by Taxi to Fuzhou Train Station & Sanfang Qixiang . Make sure you have the hotel name & address in Chinese as the taxi driver took me to another Best Western nearby. Room: Small but clean with full amenities, 2 bottles of free drinking water. Non smoking room no cigarettes smell. Housekeeper special delivery of one complementary pack of Preserved Olive each night during my stay. Food: Could be better. The fried rice was a total disappointment, nothing at all. Service: Speedy check in & out. Free bottles of drinking water & fruits at the check in counter. Stayed during typhoon, the whole area around the hotel was flooded. Can't go anywhere at all. No in house laundry service which is inconvenience especially during typhoon.
I decided to stay a night at Best Western Premier Fortune after having trouble at Hilton Garden that day. Despite an immediate booking closer to the mid-night, this hotel kindly accommodated me while a receptionist worked on finding my last-minute reservation patiently. She spoke excellent English to check me in and later called me to confirm my booking. Really thankful that part. The room I stated was tiny but it was very clean and comfy enough to stay just a night and even longer days if you wish so. Bathroom amenities were fully available from comb to toothbrush as well as shampoo and conditioner. It is also very clean. As I always hate smoking smell in room, finding a fully non-smoking room in China yields some difficulty. I just had had a problem of smoking smell in international Hilton Garden Inn Fuzhou, and I was afraid of getting the same issue at this property. However, this property nicely offered a non-smoking room. That was very helpful. Breakfast venue is located on the upper floor. Selections were quite diverse so foreign travelers would not have any trouble having breakfast there. Food quality was not bad at all. Location-wise, it is mixed. As I hailed a cab to the hotel, I arrived in another Best Western hotel about 10 min walk away. So I had to walk to get to this property by foot in the middle of the night. However, the hotel was located within residential buildings. It turned out a bit difficult to find it. Once I found the hotel, it turned out everything convenient from next morning. Most international fast-food restaurants were located on the Main Street ahead and some tourist attractions were also within walking distance, say about 30min to Chinese traditional alleys, Sun Fang Qi Xing, where a beautiful Starbucks store is settled down. Overall, this property is highly recommended for foreign tourists both in business and fun. Just be sure to tell a taxi driver which Best Western you are staying.
Set back on a quiet street facing a small park, the hotel is nevertheless very accessible to the city's attractions by bus, with direct services to West Lake, the historic city centre, airport bus at Apollo Hotel, Gushan, and the Wanda mall in the city's new financial district. There are several restaurant chains within short walking distance, including KFC, Yoshinoya, and Pizza Hut. The room was a bit small but everything looked new and clean. Wifi worked well most of the time although the TV consisted of all Chinese channels. There was some hallway noise that seeped through but the doors don't slam so that helps a lot. Breakfast was included in the top floor restaurant and had a good selection of hot and cold foods. This hotel particularly impressed me because of their staff, who are proactive, helpful, and do their utmost to make your stay comfortable. Examples include housekeeping giving me a mouse pad after noticing my laptop on the desk, and Concierge offering to send someone to buy me chamomile tea as they only had jasmine tea bags in stock. Now that is 5-star service.
It's prolixity to city centre adds lots of value, the in room design with full accessories make stay comfort and ease. Breakfast was tasting good with options of choices. There were lots of QSRs nearby and also several convenience stores too. Average room fare was competitive. Also there was no terrible aroma where quite most hotels in rural area might have. It's clean, compact, and also efficient checking in and out too.
While the facilities are limited - lobby coffee shop/bar, rooftop Chinese buffet restaurant and small gym, the rooms are extremely well equipped and comfortable. Gone are the hard mattresses of old and water pressure in the shower is superb. 2 minutes walk is the Sino International Plaza where you can eat Italian or Steak (both with a Chines twist). Only real draw back was the lack of any English speaking staff but all were expert in charades so managed to communicate
This is the second time for me to stay in this hotel. I have tried several types of rooms, interior all looked new and decently decorated, with comfortable bed and pillow. Bath towel is thick. In some rooms, you can fine tune the bed light intensity. The hotel is located in downtown, easy to find restaurants, shopping center, and coffee bars in walking distance. Moreover, a spring park is nearby, not too large, but enough to take a walk or jog. Breakfast is good. Besides, a complementary afternoon tea or evening tea is served. Hotel staffs are nice and willing to help, my requests during the stay were well responded and solved. Despite some minor defects, the overall stay experience was excellent.
The hotel furnishing seemed quite new and I stayed at a slightly bigger Deluxe room because they ran out of the normal size room. Despite the large room size, I found the bathroom sink top extremely cramped and not spacious enough to put all my skin care stuff. I also couldn't find a good space to put my luggage in the walk-in wardrobe. Besides the above 2 'cramped' experience for my things to find a resting place, the other parts of the hotel is fairly ok. Comfortable bed, clean toilets and overall environment, and a pretty good spread of buffet breakfast, plus extra complimentary happy hour drink session in the evening (which I never utilise). I would say that this may be a little pricey if you are not staying at the normal room and may not really use a lot of the facilities. Otherwise it is a relatively decent hotel to stay and good location to the hot spring park area.
I stayed here for 1 night while on business. The room was clean and comfortable with the biggest bed I've ever seen. The only downside was the maid shouting loudly to the occupant of the next room before 6am. We arrived at about 8pm and struggled to find anywhere to eat in the vicinity at that time.
Stayed here for one night since our client was located in the proximity. I could not think of anything special for this place except that it was one of those local hotels with "cheap" luxury. Perhaps Best Western bought it from a local management. I don't have anything against this hotel but I would look for other decent choices for my next stay. PS: What irriated me most was not the mediocrity of this hotel but rather the dusty air of Fuzhou. I don't know how they can create such an inhumane atmosphere on an ocean-side city. Pretty amazing :)
