There are so many good things about this hotel but somehow it didn't leave us wanting to come back! The staff, particularly the front desk, are very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean, quiet and comfortable. The wifi worked fine. The Buffett breakfast was vast and kept well stocked. The evening Buffett was good and vast, with very attentive staff. The only obvious downside is fact that the hotel is situated on the edge of town, a fair way from the main sights, and a taxi is needed to reach any decent restaurants. Whether it was this, the fact that the hotel is broadly set up for large conferences or the fact that the weather was to cold to make use of the extensive pool and spa facilities I don't know, however we simply didn't warm to this hotel. The foyer is large but has no comfortable armchairs or sofas to sit in, leaving the whole area feeling unwelcoming and cold. The same feeling prevails through the shared areas, incl the massive restaurant and breakfast area. In summary, would we stay here again - no. However was there anything wrong with our stay - also no!
I stayed here for a few nights as part of a tour and it was very nice. It is a resort (you have to wear a wristband whilst you are there) and so has everything you might want contained within itself, and as such a few miles from the main town. Good for children, as large outdoor pool with play areas and activities. Energetic parents can also use the gym. I however was on holiday and so did not use the gym! Did use the bar (very nice), breakfast buffet - huge choice, very nice food, dreadful coffee, restaurant - buffet choice was nice and hot, whilst my a la carte choice wasn't that great. I didn't use the pool bar because some of our group complained about the poor food. As it's a resort they do like you to charge everything to your room, so you can't pay as you go, which some people might not like. The bedrooms our tour were allocated, were huge - 3 bed family rooms, Jacuzzi bath, separate shower, good toiletries and integrated hairdryer. They have 127V which is fine if you are from the UK (charging phones etc just takes longer) but if you are from the US you will need to be careful. I found the widespread policy of leaving the sliding balcony door open annoying- it's not secure and also let all the insects in, so had to keep shutting it after housekeeping came.
The hotel is perfect for his hotel is perfect for all types of tourist, families, couples and young people. Immaculate breakfast with lots of variety of fruits and breads. The choice of food in the restaurant is great and the food is delicious! For going with kids, the hotel has a great recreation team, lively and cheerful. It has a great and perfect spa, with wonderful products and therapies. Big apartments, great beds, very good shower! Highly recommend this hotel! I liked it a lot!
We found this hotel to be really enjoyable. Our weather was great and we enjoyed the large pool / bar area. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dining was good. The only problem was the distance from other facilities eg. shops.
We stayed 2 nights at the Recanto Cataratas which is a very spacious hotel that is light and airy. The rooms have plenty of space but a very strange square shape and lots of corners with very little round or smooth corners. We both liked the long bench shaped platform just as you entered the room which the bell boy put our cases on and we thought, now that's a good idea. For the first time on our tour of South America we had a place for our cases, great. The bed is also very comfortable and there is a window into the en suite bathroom which is a little strange. As this is a resort there is plenty of space round the pool and the gym is a good size with all equipment in good working order. The restaurant for breakfast is a little like a works canteen with all the tables square to each other and you get the feeling you are there to eat, nothing else. It is a different restaurant for dinner and although the tables are still all square to one another, there is a little more atmosphere. Both meals are buffet style and there is a reasonable selection. The quality of the food is good without being great but there is no reason to complain. There is one point to note, the electric sockets are an odd shape and you will need to get a connector from reception which will accept a standard 2 pin round plug.
A modern and well presented hotel. Rooms were well furnished and clean with the biggest bed I have ever seen. Pool area was fantastic with pool bar and restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Only complaint was a charge on my room that was not mine.
Beautiful hotel, perfect for visiting the falls. We went there on our honeymoon and got upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi and a lovely view of the pool. The hotel is largely a conference location, so not really designed for a honeymoon couple, but clean and comfortable, excellent English speaking staff, nice breakfasts, and a gorgeous pool area (with swim up bar). So a really good place to stay when seeing the falls. It's a 15 mins taxi to the center, but it's not expensive. We ate at the dinner buffet for one dinner, but then preferred to take a taxi into town and eat at Emporio com arte (a lovely bistrot in the centre) for the other two nights. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Foz do Iguacu!
I really enjoyed my brief stay at Recanto! The facilities are amazing, suitable for the whole family. I particularly enjoyed the pool bar and the staff were friendly...communication was a lot easier as some staff members could speak a little English. The place offers something different compared to the popular coastal cities... I would have loved to stay a little longer! Njabulo, South Africa
Location about 30 minute drive to Iguazu falls. The hotel is situated in nice grounds but nothing much outside the grounds, quite an industrial area. Hotel is large with ambiance of an airport, there are no cozy bars. There is as well as a large pool with swim up bar, a ten pin bowling centre. Huge restaurant with good food. Clean modern rooms.
We just did one night here as we moved between the 2 sides of the falls. It's a huge complex, the restaurant was vast. It didn't feel personal at all but the food was OK and you got your daily steps in walking from your table to the buffet bar. It looks like a good family hotel with a couple of pools and lots of loungers.
