After having a rece trip to this area and hotel in August 2018 we returned for a week's ski holiday in March 2019. South facing room with view and double and single bed was perfect for our use. Hotel perfect location 10 minute walk to telecabin in ski boots. Boot and ski room with with heated pegs, great!! Staff were also very accommodating and friendly. Font Romeu ski school also brilliant for our daughter. Font Romeu skiing area limited but OK as the purpose was to get our daughter skiing, which was accomplished! Thanks Thomas her instructor who was great too.Hotel has roof top hot tub and inside pool which we also used. We would highly recommend family visit, especially if you like Cheese which with our daughter's alergy made sourcing food a bit of an issue. Would we return-yes from all of us!
I recently stayed at the Hotel le Grand Tetras for 3 nights. I was very disappointed in the hotel and my stay. I travelled with a large group of adults and children and we had a few rooms booked in the hotel. The positives are the location is great and the pool and outdoor hot tub are great. The negatives.... The room was very very small. The bathroom is awful. You could not have a shower in the room because they only have a hose hanging in the wall. There is no shower curtain or glass door so if you try and shower holding this hose in one hand the water goes everywhere. It’s very strange that in 2019 a hotel room would not have a proper shower. This is awful and very uncomfortable. After a day of skiing it would have been nice to be able to shower. The staff were not very friendly at all. We are in the hotel restaurant on the first night. Food was only average. The restaurant not child friendly at all. No children’s food at all, the kids we had were offered potato and ham?! I asked if they had any pasta, or chips or chicken or anything else that children would like but was told no by the manager. It was also very difficult to get any kind of service off the staff. The meal was overpriced and not enjoyable at all. Breakfast in the mornings had a good selection. The hotel policy was that you can not take a piece of fruit or a bread roll away with you from the breakfast room. Again not very accommodating when you want to take something small away for a child. When checking out the guy at desk was not very friendly, didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our stay. Overall I would never return to this hotel. Staff are not friendly at all. It is not child friendly at all. Parking is a nightmare. The rooms are very old and outdated. They need to put a shower in the bathrooms. It was not worth the money at all.
Quiet and relaxed hotel. Superb Catalan food served in the Pol au Pot, whilst the wide range of breakfast items are much needed before a long day’s snowboarding. The staff are warm and very personable and provide plenty of assistance when required. The pool and sauna are great whilst the jacuzzi provides beautiful views across the southern Pyrenees. The hotel is only 200m from the main telecabine and is close to bars and restaurants. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the previous visits so much that we booked again for 6 nights immediately before the start of the French school holidays. The hotel is about 100m from where the 1€ bus from Perpignan stops and the same distance from the gondola to the ski area. The rooms are well-maintained with large comfortable beds and plenty of controllable warm and hot water. Our room had a bath with a hand shower and separate toilet. In future we will try and book a superior room which has a view over the mountains. The jacuzzi outside on the 6th floor is a delight after a day's skiing as well as the indoor pool (although the temperature is a bit low). We ate once in the restaurant but found it a bit expensive and not a very extensive menu (unless you enjoy cheese!).
Wonderful friendly relaxing hotel. Fabulous rooms of very high standard. All staff so friendly and extremely helpful with any requests. Very comfortable beds and great bathroom. Fabulous hot tub with mountain views. Sauna great after skiing. Location perfect.
Our stay at this hotel exceeded our expectations so much that we have booked a week here with our 5 year old daughter for skiing in 2019! The room was clean and comfortable with small balcony looking out at the mountains. Reception, service and restaurant very good and everything clean. Access into parking very tight!!
Lovely place, nice décor, friendly staff, great sun terrace with stunning views and best of all, an excellent dinner. If I were to criticise anything it would be ventilation in the room. With the door open it was too noisy, but with the door closed it was too stuffy. No AC and no electric fan available. Probably not a problem in the winter, but definitely something to improve for summer stays.
Everything about this hotel was amazing. I have stayed in hotels all around the world and this one was certainly one of the best. Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms and a truly incredible restaurant.
We spent 4 days with the family just a quick ago. We impressed about the kind and warm welcome, the level of hospitality and commitment of the whole staff. Beside the great preparation for our stay, thanks to emails sent us previously by the staff, we have been supported and helped. Nice room for the family, excellent breakfast, nice swimming pool for kids. Great experience indeed.
Part of me would like to say this was a terrible hotel so that we would always have somewhere to stay when we visit Font Romeu. Truth be told this was an excellent, friendly hotel with an amazing family room. The restaurant was very good although the service was a little slow to start with. Having said that, the food was very good.
