This hotel is located beside the Arno with a fantastic view of the Ponte Vecchio from the river facing bedrooms. It is also very well placed for visiting all of Florence’s main attractions such as the Uffizzi gallery (5 mins walk), the Duomo (10 mins walk), and fantastic designer clothes/shoes/handbag shops. The staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly offering an excellent concierge service with great suggestions for restaurants and making reservations for these + other attractions. The rooms are beautifully furnished with luscious fabrics, colours and pieces of furniture. They are large and the daily service is excellent keeping everything pristine and tidy. The bathrooms are luxurious and the Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries are a real bonus. If you decide to stay B + B the breakfast room is good with a decent range of buffet style fruits, pastries, meats etc for a continental style breakfast but hot choices are charged as extras. Our only negative comments are the lack of bar within the actual hotel, although there is a sister hotel literally 1 minute away with an excellent cocktail lounge. Also we were not able to secure a suite with 2 proper bedrooms and one of our children had to settle for uncomfortable nights on a single sofa bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel for tourists enjoying a short break in Florence.
My daughter is studying in Florence. I️ picked this hotel because it is very close to her apartment. I️ am so glad I️ did. It is a amazing hotel. Everything is first rate. Selina, Rafael, Matteo and everyone on the staff is wonderful. My room was beautiful, and even had a coffee machine. The bed was sooo comfortable. It is owned by the Ferragamo family and they offer Ferragamo toiletries which I️ loved. I️ have stayed in a lot of beautiful hotels but this one is very special. My husband couldn’t make this trip but I️ will definitely be bringing him back to stay here.
Portrait Firenze is a modern 5 star hotel with all the qualities that you can expect! We stayed in a studio in the 7 th floor . The apartment had just two high windows with view to the river , that was the bad thing about the room , but all the rest were great ! A living room with sofa, great closet and bathroom, and a sound system by Bluetooth in the whole apartment ,that we felt like we were in our house . The breakfast is very good and the location perfect! The best part of the hotel is the service to the guests . The service of Portrait staff differs completely from other hotels. They understand the guests needs and does everything they can to make your trip an amazing experience! Francesco Alfonsetti and his team , made our stay in Florence a unique experience ! Thanks for everything and hope to come back !
Extremely well-appointed hotel in Florence. Excellent location, within easy walking distance of the top attractions (never needed to take transportation to any of the museums/restaurants/stores that we visited, short walk to all). Warm, friendly greeting upon arrival. Room was terrific, nice amenities and attention to the details. (Only small downside was that we selected a room facing the river. Room was up one floor from the lobby and we experienced a bit of street noise.) The dinner we ate at the hotel restaurant on our first evening was great and the morning breakfast buffet (which we enjoyed each morning) was truly memorable. Staff was attentive from point of arrival to departure. Highly recommend this hotel for your special occasion.
Within yards of the Pontevecchio and yet a peaceful oasis, the facilities of the Portrait, Firenze are unparalleled in my experience. Whilst not large by some standards the rooms are really well designed, well-appointed and very comfortable. The restaurant is also first class but the real credit has to go to the staff, whose knowledge, dedication and positive attitude shone through at all times. I could not now imagine staying anywhere else in Florence!
Beautiful hotel just by the river Arno with fantastic views of Ponte Vecchio and Boboli gardens. Our room which was on the 6th floor had a big terrace, with comfortable armchairs and stunning views. Room itself was very cozy, nicely furnished , with little kitchenette, hidden from view, and walk in wardrobe. Super friendly staff, and fantastic housekeeping. It’s not cheap but it’s absolutely worth it. Great place to go if you want to indulge yourself, and apparently Tom Hanks lived in this hotel when filming Inferno!!!
We came to Italy on a tour of a few of its big cities. Florence was our second stop. We took the high speed train in from Rome. We stayed at the Portrait Firenze our room was the Deluxe Studio River room. The room was well decorated and nicely setup. There was a fridge and microwave in the room which was handy while we stayed for 5 nights. The location is great just a step from Ponte Vecchio the main and most famous bridge in Florence. Our room had a direct view of it. The hotel is conveniently located to everything. The longest walk was 15-20 mins to every site we saw. We rented a car one day which was a 10 min walk from the hotel. We ate in the hotels restaurant CAFFÈ DELL'ORO it is a 5 star restaurant. The food and service were amazing. However it is not what I envisioned when wanting traditional Italian dishes.(Grandmas cooking) The only complaint I have is that we came here on our Honeymoon which the hotel knew, and while the room was nice and the service was great we were placed on the first floor. The street next to the river which is what your room faces if you have a river view is one of the busiest in the area. People walking up and down all day and night and cars and scooters driving by all day and night. Our last night of our stay I was woken at 4am with a box truck unloading into the hotels restaurant for 2 hours. I just wish I had known about the street noise ahead of time. The fact that we actually paid extra for it by paying for a river view is a little disappointing. My take is dont get a river view, the hotel is probably even better and more relaxing while still having perks of location and great service. I just wish we asked to move the first night. Everyday at 6am the scooters start down the street. I was woken every morning of our stay at 6am asides from the last morning which was 4am. I did call down stairs and the staff was very nice about it. They really cant do anything about it.
Portrait Firenze is a small gem of a hotel "hiding" in plain sight, steps away from the Ponte Vecchio and Via Tornabuoni. A thoroughly modern boutique hotel owned by the Salvatore Ferragamo group, Portrait is elegant, low-key, and "adult" without a hint of stuffiness. The attention to detail is truly amazing. Our concierge took care to understand our preferences and what we were looking forward to in Florence. We had a studio suite, consisting of a spacious bedroom with comfortable seating around a small table, a kitchenette completely concealed in cabinetry, a walk-in closet, and a floor-to-ceiling-marble bathroom with double sinks, huge rain shower, and a separate bathing area set off with a door. There was even a candle to create the mood for a relaxing soak. All the amenities--and they were generous--were Ferragamo. Portrait is everything we were expecting in a 5-star luxury hotel, and then some. It definitely exceeded expectations. The staff is wonderful, and the location could not be better. If you are looking for value for money, Portrait is a great choice.
We chose the Portrait Firenze for our special wedding anniversary and from the minute we arrived it really did feel special. We were greeted with such warmth, upgraded to the Portrait Suite with balcony overlooking Ponte Vecchia (Rm 504) and the wide range of additional benefits were explained to us. After settling in, and enjoying Welcome macaroons and strawberries, we wandered through Florence finding our bearings and the first glance of the sights. The location of the hotel is so central that EVERYTHING is an easy walk away. We did, however, look forward to returning to our stunning room and drink wine on our balcony watching the hustle and bustle on The Bridge as the sun set. Gorgeous. The room had everything you could possible want, albeit the English speaking TV channels were rather limited. As we had beautiful weather, and were on a romantic getaway, so it was not a big issue, but worth a mention had the weather been rubbish! The bed was super comfortable with down pillows and various treats left out for us each night like facial mist and hand cream and perfume. (A bath would have been nice to soak in but the shower was huge and absolutely fine). We were treated to champagne and strawberries on our anniversary and we treated ourselves to dinner in the hotel's restaurant which was superb. We booked segway tour and visited most of the famous places and did plenty of shopping, eating, drinking and photo taking. The roof top bar at the sister hotel, The Continentale, is really really nice (discount with Lugarno Priority Card) with city rooftop views and stunning sunsets (book if its high season). Four nights of heaven and we were so sorry to leave Florence and this sanctuary! Even if we have to save for the next 20 years, we'll be back!
The Portrait Florence, provides the most excellent hospitality and high standards any guest staying here could wish for. This perfectly located hotel has beautiful rooms with the best bed linen and marble bathrooms. The very popular restaurant creates delicious and exceptional food which should be experienced. Each member of staff is a joy to meet. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are knowledgeable about the city and can make great recommendations about places to visit, where to eat locally or make bookings on your behalf. A genuine five star experience.
