This was part of our first holiday abroad with our 10 month old son. This hotel was beautiful and our room had a lovely view over the river. The cot set up in our room had a little teddy bear which was a really nice touch. All of the staff were really friendly and attentive. In particular Sara and Matteo (I think that was his name) in the restaurant were particularly attentive and worked incredibly hard. My son James was delighted with both of them. I had seen a few reviews moaning about the distance from florence, but we felt it was the perfect distance. It was a beautiful and quiet location, allowing us to make use of parking facilities. We used the mini bus on one day which was easy. As people who enjoy walking, we had a very enjoyable day walking along the river into florence on another day. It was a decent walk but perfectly managable with a pushchair. We had a wonderful stay here and would happily return to this hotel if we stay in Florence again

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel to celebrate the last leg of our honeymoon. It is a beautiful hotel, very Italian in style, with an amazing view of the river Arno and pretty gardens. Inside the hotel, the fragrance is wonderful (they had plenty of fragrance diffusers dotted around) and it was quiet and calm. If our rating was just based on the property, then it would be 4 stars. Unfortunately however, we received poor service throughout our stay and this has really let it down. For a 4* Italian hotel, we had expected fantastic coffee. In our rooms, we were provided with a kettle and some Nescafé instant sachets and long life milk cartons. Also with plastic spoons.... I asked at reception for some fresh milk for in my tea as I really can't stomach the fake stuff, and was told that along with some extra pillows it would be brought to our room. A man arrived with some pillows, and no milk. I asked again and he replied 'no you need to do that at the bar'. I explained I had already been to reception and that the lady there had said it was fine. He was incredibly reluctant to help, but said he would be back with milk. 5 minutes later, our in room phone rang. It was the bar asking 'how can we help?' I explained again that we just needed some fresh milk for in a cup of tea. He said he would bring some. 5 minutes later, the bar man arrived with two glasses of milk on a tray. This was more than we asked for, but OK! He then said 'that's 17 euros please!' 17 euros for some milk for in my tea! We were absolutely astonished, and speechless to be honest! He explained it was 4 euros per glass and 9 euros room service charge! Considering I had asked at reception myself, I can't believe we were being charged for this! We sent the milk away and I tried calling reception but our phone wouldn't call out. I emailed them instead as did not want to go back out to reception. The next day, the lady stopped my husband to discuss and apologise for the 'confusion' and that of course we could have milk if we wanted. We didn't want to ask again, so we never got any. My opinion is that given this nonsense, a nice gesture would have been a jug placed in our fridge with a little note. The plastic spoon in our room was never changed either. It had tea stains on it for 3 days (my husband is OK with the milk cartons so he just made do with what was provided) At breakfast on our last day, we had no napkins or cutlery provided on our table. My husband got up to retrieve some from an empty nearby table and the waiter gave him the most horrendous dirty look. Another time at breakfast, I wasn't feeling too hungry first thing. I am pregnant so suffer from occasional nausea. We had a busy day planned and had booked the shuttle bus for some sight seeing. I took a croissant from the buffet to eat on the bus so I wasn't sick, and the same waiter who shot my husband a filthy look, shouted at me from across the room. He said I was not allowed to take the croissant as something to do with food safety and 'outside temperature'. I tried explaining to him it was just for me to eat on the bus and he just kept loudly repeating it was not allowed. This was very embarrassing, and I don't think it at all necessary. I have paid for breakfast, it should be up to me where I eat it. These things might seem minor, but it added up to making us feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome and not how we should feel on holiday, never mind our honeymoon!

We just returned from 4 nights visiting Florence. The location is fabulous - lovely gardens and views of the river. The free shuttle bus makes the location work (it is on a one way loop of narrow road - scary to drive or cycle and expensive by taxi). The 9am shuttle gets you to a sister hotel a few minutes walk from Santa Croce. We returned on the 6.30 for a dip in the pool followed by relaxing on a sun lounger in the evening sun, a visit to the sauna/steam room and dinner in the restaurant. Some reviewers weren't keen on being out of the city, but that was a huge plus for us - after a frantically busy day we could unwind and be ready for the next day. Not a cheap hotel but definitely worth it. If we return to Florence we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for a family wedding and i have to i have to say that the staff at this hotel with their warm Italian nature and their passion for their food and love made the day magical. They couldn't do enough for us and not just the wedding party their guests as well, from finding lost guests, ironing shirts and dresses to washing guests cars to be used in the wedding, Amazing. The breakfast is beautiful with everything you could ask for and the food for the wedding breakfast showed off Italian cuisine and wine at its finest and it just kept coming. It was totally relaxed and would definitly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a hotel in a beautiful relaxed location, with a free mini bus into Florence and a pool to unwind in after a hard days sightseeing. One down side the price of the drinks but take a bottle with you and if your lucky enough to have a terrace with your room Perfect x

Fabulous hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We were there for a family wedding. The food was amazing and everything went smoothly throughout the day and evening . The room we had was a family one and had plenty of space. The beds were very comfortable with beautiful cotton sheets. The bathroom was spacious and had a Jacuzzi bath with shower over. The air con was a necessary bonus. Set beside the River Arno the surrounding area was peaceful. Cannot compliment the whole place enough. We really loved our stay and would definitely recommend.

The staff was wonderful! Exceptional! The inn was an old mill and located on the Arno River. The inn was beautifully decorated and furnished. Lots of of charm and ambiance. The restaurant had a wonderful and varied menu. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary with a full array of choices. And delicious! Dino was charming! The grounds were lovely. The inn was located about 3 miles from Florence city center and they provided daily morning and afternoon shuttles into Florence. We loved being slightly out town and the high energy of Florence. This was an Excellent choice. It could not have been any better. Just lovely.

We stayed for 3 nights and hugely enjoyed our stay. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel was once an old mill and has great atmosphere with many attractive features and furnishings. We liked the setting by the river and our room had a lovely view of the river and the hills beyond. The hotel also has a good pool and we made use of the free shuttle service into the centre of Florence. This is a hotel we would certainly recommend.

Really lovely hotel on the banks of the river. Lovely gardens and pool. Super setting, perfect after busy sightseeing day. Quite quirky as not a purpose built hotel. Free shuttle into town centre 15 mins approx. Overall we liked it a lot.

We stayed at Mulino for 3 nights, 2 adults and our baby. The stay was most enjoyable! The staff are extremely lovely and so helpful. Our room overlooked the river and pool and was beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and offered a huge variety of hot and cold options. We drove to Florence so the free hotel parking was fantastic, secure and under cover. We used the free shuttle into the city most days which was great. There are not a lot of restaurants in the area, however the restaurant in the hotel was nice. The grassed area and pool were stunning and would be lovely to go for a swim if it was summer. If you don't mind being 15min out of the city I highly recommend this hotel.

We came back to this hotel after a two year interval, everything was as good as we remembered. Beautiful restoration, friendly staff, great location. Just one downer, on the first evening we sat in the bar and ordered two Aperol Spritz. These drinks, found everywhere in Italy, vary from 3 Euro in a quiet bar to 6 Euro in a popular spot or upscale restaurant. Imagine our surprise when we were charged 12 Euro EACH! We decided then and there that an evening meal would be far beyond our budget!
