Superb hotel for visiting Florence. It is situated South of the river Arno about twenty minutes walk from the historic old town. When going into town on foot, you walk down a hill, through an ancient walled gate, passed the Pitti Palace, and then over The Ponte Vecchio into the old city. There is a bus service no. 11 if you don't feel like walking. The staff are friendly and very efficient. They can suggest attractions to visit and make reservations for you. There is a nice garden at the rear, where you can sit and have a drink at very reasonable prices. Breakfast is a buffet style, Bread rolls or pastries, cold meats and cheese, as well as fruit and yoghurts and the like. Rooms are big and comfortable and clean. This hotel has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Florence, highly recommended.

I would like to say that the hotel is great on its own. The rooms are big and clean, the area is green and peaceful and the breakfast is nice. However, the location of the hotel is not suitable if you do not have a car. It is 45 minutes walking from the railroad station and with a luggage it takes over an hour. Take into account that most of the sidewalks are ancient and stony, and you may break your luggage if move fast. In addition , the bus #11 runs only once in an hour on the weekends. I budgeted 75 minutes to get to the train station including the bus ride. However, soon enough I realized that I just missed the bus and the only option was to walk downhill to take another bus. I did so but bus #37 never arrived. So I had to run to the station, all sweaty and of course broke my luggage on the way. I barely made to the train. To sum up, the hotel is nice but the location kills it and if you stay in Florence just for a few days, please find a hotel in the city and avoid the hassle.

Me and my wife were there in the first week of the year. The hotel is magnificent. Friendly staff, big and clean rooms, proper breakfast and good location, not that far downtown. On foot, a 20/25 minutes walk. Simply, a place that makes you feel well comfortable and, above all, in peace. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

Great hotel and a very reasonable price. The staff are super friendly and are willing to help out in any way possible. The grounds are beautiful as are the surrounding hills. The room was perfectly spacious with very good facilities. The only downside to this hotel is the locations its a fair journey from the station and the main part of Florence but being out of the city you get some beautiful views.

Good position if you have a car and want to visit the region: the hotel has car parking and it's not far away from the motorway. For those who do not have a car, it might be not the right choice: the walking distance to the city center is about 35 min. (and the way back is uphill). However, there's a bus to the city center every 15 minutes. Beautiful garden, amazing building, nice rooms, even though our room was a bit cold at night because we had to choose between low temperature and noisy heater. General cleanliness is extremely good. The very basic breakfast was the only real sore point of our stay. Overall it is not a good choice for a short stay focused on Florence, but it is a very good option for a long stay that includes day trips by car to other cities.

If you don’t mind walking this hotel is a perfect location away from the crowds. I would so it’s approximately a half mile to a mile depending on which route you take to Florence. We rather enjoyed the scenic walk to Piazzale Michelangelo on our daily route to town. It took longer, but you got a lovely view of the city before heading into it each day. The food was very nice in the morning. Italian meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee and hard or soft boiled eggs. If you are fairly active this place is a must. They do have parking for cars and taxi pick up, but we enjoyed the walk. Rooms are nice as well. Updated with large bathrooms. Worth it.

Beautiful Tuscan hotel outside the city walls makes much more sense than staying in the middle of Florence in pokey hotel. Villa Betania is about 15 minutes walk and 5 minutes in the No 11 bus to the Porta Romana. Definitely better than staying in town. The surrounding district is beautiful affluent housing. It was wonderful to stay away from the centre but with easy access to the tourist sites ant he train station. The hotel has a pleasant ambiance with breakfast al fresco and it's own park like gardens. Wonderful

This is a lovely Hotel in the Altrarno area of Florence just south of the Porta Romano and within a 10 min bus ride of the centre of Florence. (Bus stop 11 just 5 mins walk from the hotel). It has its own garden and is therefore in a remarkably peaceful location, which was a welcome relief after a day of crowds, queues, cars, bikes, vendors, touts....There are several lovely restaurants nearly and the hotel staff are very helpful with making a booking for you.Do book a table if you have found a restaurant you like- we saw many people being turned away. Comfortable rooms with a/c, heating, WiFi, nice beds, good breakfasts.

Ok. First it's very good value for Florence. We had the last room available; a basic double (210) and it was. It was large and cleanliness was ok but not the best. Very large bed and air con which wasn't used. Dusty bathroom shelves etc. Villa is out out of town so nice and quiet. No tea or coffee in room and lots of scuff marks on walls, blistered plaster etc. Breakfast was basic buffet with no hot choices. Staff were pleasant. The key thing is the 800 metre or so incline to the town entrance. It was ok for us as we walk a lot but no good for any kind of mobility issue at all, walking on broken pavement on busy road. Buses do run nearby but didn't seem very regular. This is a value hotel and that's what we got. Walk to Ponte Vechia is about 20 mins and train station 35. If you're fit and want value go for it. Can't be more than 3 stars given awkward location and basic facilities. Obviously Florence is stunning but if you have time get a train to Lucca and Siena. Only 1.2 hours to each from Florence and smaller versions and quieter than Florence.

The hotel is situated in a little park in walking distance from Firenze historic center. It has good clean rooms, but no elevator. The breakfast can be enjoyed both inside and outside in the garden. There is laundry-service at the hotel. And private parking.
