We stayed 3 nights. It's a short walk into town and you can go the other direction (after a climb) for a lovely view of Florence. The room was clean, good sized and had a lovely view of the river. Breakfast was typical for Italy, so no complaints.
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the hotel. Short distance walk to all the major sites. Our room appeared to be newly renovated and very nice. Would most definitely stay here again. The staff was always helpful with suggestions and answers to questions.
Away from the crowds and nice and quiet, but also a very very short walk from all the sites. The perfect combination. The rooms are big - the floors are not carpeted so a little chilly (April) but I can imagine in the high summer being grateful of this. The breakfast was good and the staff very helpful.
Wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. Had a very nice stay. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean and well laid out. The hotel is close to all the major attractions and within easy walking distance to everything. The breakfast was really good. The service was really good and helpful. We would stay here again if we came back to Florence.
We stayed in this hotel for one night over Easter. The location is excellent as it is just across the river from the main attractions of the city; don’t let that put you off as it’s a short walk. We were upgraded to a premium room which was facing the river. It was spacious and had a lovely modern bathroom with a great shower. The staff in the hotel were friendly and the breakfast was really good offering some hot food as well as sweets and pastries. If you are travelling by car this hotel is perfect as you can enter by the south side of the city (meaning you don’t have to drive through the busy bit). We were really lucky to get parked right outside and for free as it was a holiday! But otherwise it’s €23 to park per day. The only improvement we would suggest is maybe an evening snacks/food menu at the bar as there is no food in the hotel at night. But overall we had a really lovely stay.
I have to admit that my review here has mixed emotions . Here is why : It all depends on the type of room you choose ! When I first checked in , I had a standard quadruple room which was pathetic frankly . The bed was uncomfortable , the room was old and relatively small and quality of bedding and towels were poor . When I complained , I was offered an upgrade for additional 40 euros per night so I took them up on it and it made a huge difference . What I found out is that the hotel is renovating / modernizing its rooms and the newly renovated rooms are really really nice : beds are comfortable , the decoration is modern and experience is amazing . Here are my general impressions : 1- the hotel is about 10 min by taxi from the central train station ( costs about 12-15 euros ) 2- location is phenomenal for this hotel being about 15 minutes walking distance from any attraction in Florence ( about 10 min to Ponte Vecchio , 15 to Santa Maria del Fiori and duomo) . It is about 12 minutes to the Michelangelo piazza . 3- the hotel is very clean 4- the staff are super friendly and helpful 5- it so definitely worth upgrading the room To the newly renovated rooms because it will change your perception of the hotel 6- the hotel has great amenities and potential but not fully utilized such as the entrance courtyard which can be beautified and the outdoor dining area that oversees the Arno river 7- towel quality could be improved 8- they have great cappuccino ! Enjoy in the outdoor sitting area outside the dining area 9- breakfast quality is good - acceptable for a 3 star hotel and bread is great
For the first time in over 20 trips to Florence, my friend recommended Hotel Silla which is located on the other side of the Arno Pros: Nice neighborhood location away from the throngs of students and noise Fine if you're on a budget Many good restaurants within walking distance filled with locals Nice breakfast and charming breakfast room Friendly staff Comfortable bed Very clean room Cons: Tiny room with no place to put anything (modern renovated room) no charm Even smaller bathroom and shower impossible ...could barely stand in it No food available after breakfast just coffee and tea Towels were awful I have visited Florence over 20 times on business and for pleasure and the best part of this trip was staying in a nice neighborhood setting. The hotel was originally a convent and pensione. Half the rooms still maintain the charm one would expect in Florence but the modern rooms are small, cramped and lacking any element of design or character. During my stay men were working on first floor renovations but the contemporary design does not enhance the appeal of this hotel The hotel has a bar but no one was ever staffing it so you'd wait forever to get a class of wine after a long day. If you expect no frills and the basics the hotel is fine and reasonably priced nothing more.
We recently stayed at Hotel Silla for a week. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is very conveniently located to most of the major sites, and we did not walk more than 15-20 minutes to reach anything. It is at the base of the hill that holds Piazzale Michelangelo, and we loved the convenience of walking up there every evening to watch the sunset. Beyond the convenience and comfort, the service at this hotel is stellar. We had to extend our stay by a day because I was ill, and they were very accommodating and helpful. They were also incredibly kind to our 6 year old daughter throughout our stay. I absolutely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Florence!
Staff - very nice, very helpful and accommodating Location - close to EVERYTHING and quiet, nice view from the balcony Room - warm, clean with a nice warm shower. Breakfasts - tasty. We will recommend Hotel Silla to our friends and family.
We had an incredible stay here! Such a great time at a wonderful location. Breakfast was great and made for a perfect start to the day. Having tea and coffee available 24 hours a day was also nice after long rainy walks and tours. The location was very quiet and the room was very comfortable!
