Very late writing but we have nothing but wonderful things to say about this hotel! Tucked away but near some great little bars and restaurants and a lovely walk from the city centre. Helpful staff who had for us their newly refurbished apartment which was a fantastic treat- a beautiful set of rooms with a gorgeous view over the river. Will definitely return.
I first stayed at Hotel Silla in May 2017 for several weeks and was so happy with my stay that I returned in January 2018 for a four week stay . The location, in the San Niccolò neighborhood of the Oltrarno is perfect. It's an easy walk to every attraction in all parts of the center . So guests get the benefit of a convenient location but in a quiet , cool , beautiful neighborhood . The building is a stunning 15(h century structure , with large , comfortable rooms , beautifully decorated rooms and public spaces , including a beautiful breakfast room ; everything is sparkling clean .The breakfast itself is beautifully laid out, with pastries , eggs , yogurt , fruit , and more . And a super coffee machine ! There's a beautiful roof terrace where breakfast is served during the warm months . The hotel management and staff is exceedingly professional , warm , and gracious . I recommend Hotel Silla unconditionally!
We were so impressed with the quality, style and service in this wonderful hotel. Definitely one of the best hotels we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Great location, quality of finishes, and (bonus), a very good breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
We were exceptionally pleased with our stay at Hotel Silla. The location is superb, staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was superb. We will definitely stay here again.
We visited Florence in December 2017 during Christmas for 4 days. We arrived very late in the night and there was someone waiting for us on the front desk and also helped us load our bags till the room and attended all our queries with respect to travelling around Florence. The hospitality was very good - Though Christmas in Florence can be a silent one, but Hotel Silla made us feel at home by giving us complimentary Hot chocolate and coffee. The location of the hotel may appear to be away from the tourist places but is quiet not that far. It is on the main road and safe and also near by the bridge (just have to cross a bridge) and is conveniently distant from all tourist spots. I will surely recommend to stay at Hotel Silla
These were the largest rooms we stayed in during our trip to Europe. The first room they put us in was very large and comfortable. Due to some work needing to be done, we were moved to another room which was very modern and more up to date than the other and still very spacious. Breakfast was wonderful. I would say Hotel Silla was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip.
We were delighted to check into our hotel, it was fairly easy find and a beautiful location with views of the Arno River and wonderful people watching. Our breakfasts were wonderful with made to order espresso, capuccino or whatever you like. The rooms were a little bigger than in Rome, so we were happier about that, small bathroom and shower. I either left our passports with the front desk or in our room, I never found out, But my hotel in Venice worked with Silla to get them sent overnight for our return home..... such a relief.
Loved the old building that the hotel occupies. Staff was super friendly. Very short walk to the Ponte Vecchio and all the major tourist attractions but location on the opposite bank of the river kept crowds to a minimum. San Nicolo neighborhood was an unexpected delight. Only negative was that there was no way in making my reservation that I could indicate we were a party of two. So when my wife and I arrived, we were charged 40 euro more for the extra guest as they were anticipating a single. When I complained, the desk clerk said others had the same problem when they used Booking.com (as we had). Not sure if the problem was unique to that site but needs to get fixed!
We've been supremely satisfied guests many times. (See previous glowing reviews.) Returned in October, 2017, and brought along new guests to share in our delight. They/we found a distressing concession to "progress". The renovated floors have robbed our favorite hotel in Florence of all the Old World ambience, lovely heritage furnishings, and even convenience that we promised our guests (who were, sadly, accommodated in one of the newly refurbished (sigh) rooms). Doors on shower areas, comfortable seating, any sense of previous character.......all gone! When our friends saw our rooms - on the un-improved floors - they were sorely disappointed that they had "upgraded" to one of the new rooms. This is a plea to preserve some floors as they are/were. Make repairs if necessary, but don't eradicate all the charm, history and beauty that has encouraged us to return time and again......and recommend in many review venues. The staff is wonderful, splendid. And apologetic for the poorly-conceived new areas. The view from the terrace remains legendary. The breakfast in the lovely, old space (please don't touch it!) remains memorable. Just specify, when reserving, the type of experience that appeals to you.
UPS: Great quiet location just over the river from the main historic city center. Very responsive well informed staff. Very spacious room with big bathroom. Great breakfast! DOWNS: Construction within the hotel right under our room (no quiet napping during the day), inconsistent WIFI within the hotel rooms. Turkish towels in bath not my preference especially during cold winter months.
