Hotel Palazzo dal Borgo4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is located in a historic building pretty close to the city center, about 10 minutes of walking to Santa Maria del Fiore. The room itself was the largest I ever had, with ceilings at least 5 meters high. That's certainly a novel experience. However, the hotels gets a lot of small details wrong, too many to be acceptable at 250 euro per night. The beds were designed to look historic, but in practice were squeaky and made noise at the slightest movement. The furniture were meant to be likewise historic, but no two items were the same style or color. There was no kettle or coffee maker in the room, and no glasses either (the glasses were provided by the staff when I asked). The bathroom had an annoying motion sensor, which turns out the light if you take shower for more than 5 minutes. One of the lights was flickering, the basin was shaking, the facet handle is so long it basically sticks in your face, and the shower itself might be cleaner. WiFi was rather spotty. The breakfast was ok.
We stayed here for 3 nights as we were attending the Mugello Moto GP and it didn't disappoint. Such a quaint little hotel with all the Italian charm you should expect in Florence. We had quite a large size room and bathroom was a good size. Our room had a view of the road, which didn't worry us as we weren't spending our time in our room, although the thick windows did block out all the road noise. Lovely staff that were very attentive and friendly. We were quite close to main attractions as we walked everywhere and got lost numerous times which is what you do in Italy. Being close to the station is a huge bonus as well as you save on cab fares. Wifi was good, Breakfast was nice and it was lovely sitting in the courtyard in the mornings. Would really recommend this hotel as it oozed warmth. Loved it. Thank you for our lovely stay.
Very easy to get to from the train station. The bathroom was modern with a good shower. The hotel is older but clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful with directions to attractions and restaurants. The breakfast was included and was pretty good.
The hotel is in a very good location being walking distance to the train station and close to the major attractions. Rooms were not sound proofed though and I was woken up in the middle of the night by the guest next door on a phone call that lasted more than an hour. The shower stall was so small that the shower curtain sticks to you when you shower. For the room rate, I expected better design and construction of the room to ensure that guests are able to rest without hearing the noise in the next room and to enjoy a comfortable shower. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful; otherwise, the entire experience would have been below average satisfaction.
Our company ended up occupying the majority of the hotel for 3 nights, the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast served each morning was a great way to start the day and a glass of wine in the courtyard was a perfect end.
Very nice hotel. The staff is really nice. Rooms are clean. The location is really good. Approximately 5 minutes walk to the train station, and 7 minutes to the dome. It is a bit expensive - but that's Florence...
This hotel is in a great spot near the train station, and an easy walk to most Florence sites. Don't be fooled by the nondescript front door...the rooms are spacious and as another reviewer stated, "charming and quirky." This was our favorite room during a three week trip through Europe. The staff was very attentive and the hotel serves an excellent breakfast. There is a lovely outdoor patio, which was a great place to plan our day. We had a huge triple room and our daughter loved the large out cove that was essential another room. Our triple also came with two bathrooms, which we loved after a few weeks of sharing single, small baths. Highly recommend this hotel!
My wife and two teenage daughters stayed here for 4 days over Easter. It was a lovely, well situated place with friendly staff and a good breakfast. Not luxury by any means but genuine, with a sense of the history of Florence. If only it had been warm enough to eat breakfast in the outside courtyard with the orange tree! It's well sited near the railway station (although you would never know), the lovely Santa Maria Novello church and square, and the atmospheric ancient pharmacy of the Dominican monks (virtually next door). And moments for the centre of town on foot.
Hotel is situated between the main train station and Santa Maria Novella square, hotel was clean, a good breakfast, rooms very clean, really enjoyed it. One minus is the poor quality of the WIFI internet.
The hotel is nice and small. When you first walk into their lobby, it is so small with a reception counter. The hotel stuff is very friendly and helpful. After you checked in, the elevator even smaller than the lobby, its can only fit two person with the luggage at the same time. Inside the room is really nice and cozy. The best thing of this hotel is the location because it's close to all the attraction place. You can walk around the old city with in 5 to 10 minute from the hotel. They are also have a free WIFI with a strong signal. This is a very nice place to stay over in a very romantic city, but please remember to ask for a room away from the street, it is loud at night.
