Hotel De La Ville

This was my second stay at Hotel de Ville and it confirmed that this will be my go-to hotel hereafter in Florence. The location is very close to the sights (10 minutes walk to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio) and the train station, and at the (quiet) end of one of the posh shopping streets. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the rooms very comfortable. The only minor negative is the absence of a restaurant in addition to the breakfast room, but in Florence that's hardly a problem as several excellent restaurants were close by. We saw travelers of all descriptions, including families.

we have stayed before at this hotel and every time had been fantastic. For some reasons there must have been an misunderstanding when booking and calling for the types of room.

We had a great experience during the Ordination week for the Institute of Christ the King. Perfect location. Beautiful hotel.

Can't go wrong in this lovely hotel in the best location in Florence. Great helpful staff--they did everything to make the visit to Florence perfect.

33' outside & the man on night shift wouldn't come to my room to help turning the heat on which I was unable to do. Valerie who worked @2 p:m upon my check in claimed she couldn't find my reservation after paying again, & going to my room...she called to say she found it. Not only did I find her rude,& unprofessional but non-caring as well

Hotel De la Ville is a wonderful hotel in a great location. We have stayed there as a family on many vacations and continue to go back. The rooms are clean and spacious and the the staff is always very friendly and helpful. The cocktail hour is great and Ahmed the bartender is truly amazing!!

We arrived with our confirmed reservation only to be told immediately by the desk clerk that there had been unforeseen circumstances that prevented them from honoring our reservation…they offered to call and put us up in another hotel. I indicated that we had a confirmed reservation, presented the paperwork and the clerk said he was so sorry but there was nothing he could do. I then told him his response and the possibility of removing to another hotel were completely unacceptable. He proposed that he call his colleague and asked us to sit down in the lobby. I remained at the desk while he placed the call, refusing to be put off or ignored. Wonder of wonders, in about 2 minutes, the unforeseen circumstances were resolved and we were shown to a clean, made-up room. While we were standing at the desk, by the way, a pair came in without a reservation, requesting a room for 4 nights. Wonder of wonders, there was one available for them. (Our stay was a single night.)

Awesome location for visiting Florence. Wifi only worked in lobby though and elevator was a little small. Other than that, the hotel was excellent.

Impossible to find a better hotel. Located at a major street, surrounded by luxury, two blocks from Cathedral.

The hotel was located on a very well lit street close to all the high end boutique shops. A 5 minute walk to the center of Florence which was awesome and close to the main train/bus station. The Hotel had free food with their daily happy hour which was nice except for the few pieces of stale sandwiches. The service lacked in the beginning but got better as time went on. Our shower leaked through the window guard and our shower-head was broken but I was able to handhold it. I would recommend it to people if they don't mind a hit or miss hotel. I would go back and hope for the best.

I chose this hotel because it's a short walk from the train station, 5 minutes walk in the opposite direction from the Duomo, and close to the river and all the major tourist sites. My single room was small but certainly adequate, and the breakfast buffet excellent. The staff were very knowledgable and helpful. Wifi is spotty and limited to the lobby. It's not cheap, but an excellent value.

Pros: good location, Great breakfast, cappuccino, nice staffs, much higher quality of general status compare to other 4 star hotels !!! Cons: 1) no WiFi in room. WiFi available in the hall, but not available in the bar area next to lobby. I am very curious about Wifi connection. Lobby and bar are in same space. How lobby area has Wifi connection, but bar area has NO wifi ?? 2) Bed is not a Double bed. They look double, but two single beds. It made us sleep seperatate.

Excellent location and easy to get around in the city. The breakfast is good too.

Great location, Rooms very comfortable and clean, we stayed there for 7 days and only issue was the water did not get very hot a couple of the days. Bartender is GREAT !

Florence was the prettiest of the three cities we visited (Rome, Florence, Venice). Pros: The location was great. It was never too far to walk anywhere. We had a little trouble walking there from the train when we first arrived but that was because I got lost. It is only about 7 minutes from the train terminal (which includes walking with a pregnant wife). The room was the largest we stayed in while in Italy. There was also a black out wooden curtain that came down to really let us sleep well. The lobby was beautiful and there was a fireplace with cozy chairs which we took advantage of on more than one occassion. Cons: I was a little disappointed the room wasn't ready when we arrived despite getting there after check in time. When the room was ready it smelled like vinegar. The walls were a little thin because we could readily hear the person above us.
