I liked that this hotel was modern and walkable. Staff was friendly and provided us with a room right away. knowing that this place didn't offer breakfast for Gold members, we booked a rate with breakfast. Breakfast was mediocre but acceptable for a hotel breakfast. Overall it's a great overnight option.
I had two rooms reserved, one for me and my wife, and one for my son, who was arriving very much later in the evening. I had studied Italian in advance for the trip, and found it quite funny that every time I spoke to the staff in their native language, they spoke back in English (except for one...he indulged my linguistic attempts. Oh, well, at least we were communicating. We went to the lounge for wine before going out for dinner, and enjoyed the free appetizers as well as the conversation with other Americans who were staying there. The hotel staff was very cooperative in making sure my son got into his room long after we were in bed, and we met him the next morning in the lounge for a fantastic breakfast buffet, spendy but worth every cent. That morning we all walked into the city center and enjoyed the sights before checking out to move to our AirBnB. The staff took care of our 5 bags (no tipping required or expected) and called us a cab when we finally left at around 2 p.m. that afternoon. I agree with the recent review by stanley031--it's worth a stay for one or two nights if you are in Florence.
Good hotel - very clean rooms staff very nice and friendly - buffet breakfast excellent - would recommended this hotel for one or two night stop over - had some language problems though - but apart from that , great stay
We are frequent customers of Marriott hotels. This hotel does not meet the expectations of customers familiar with the Marriot brand who have experienced many stays at other Marriot hotels. The customer experience here is subpar to other Marriot hotels. Our experience started off on a very negative and unfriendly note. After a midday check-in at the hotel and a full day around Florence with a return to the hotel in the evening, we interacted with Dario O. at the front desk. He handed us a piece of paper and told us that we had not paid in full for the hotel. We explained that we did not understand since we had checked in earlier with no problem and that the remaining balance on our account had been paid in full the day before. We had an email confirmation to show him. He was not friendly...He handed us the paperwork and told us that we needed to call customer service. We told him that we did not know the customer service number. He went to look for it and handed us the phone. He watched as we tried to read his handwriting and struggled to redial the number. He never offered to just make it easier and dial it himself. After finding out that the number was incorrect, he went in the back office to try to find another number. He came out again after our wait ...No apology and handed us the phone and asked that we move away from the front desk and sit in the lobby area. We came back to the front desk after a long wait on the phone with customer service at Marriott which confirmed with Dario O that we had paid in full. He went in the back office leaving us waiting at the front desk again with no explanation and no apology for a lot of wasted time. He came back after many minutes and said that yes we had indeed paid- No apology and no explanation. We asked to speak to his manager who came out and began laughing as he explained the situation. He shared that there was a disconnect between Marriott's Customer service and the hotel we were staying at. He told us that it is going to get even more difficult for him as Marriott grows more brands going forward. We could not figure out why a manager speaking to customers who were now irritated and had wasted time at the front desk with an unfriendly attendant would be telling us how hard it was for him. These two employees had no regard or understanding for creating a Good customer experience. It felt as though we were inconveniencing them. It was not a busy time. There were no other customers at the front desk. The room was pleasing to look at but was not well designed for actual use. The shower had nothing to hold on to upon entry or exit - The only possibilities were to grab on to a moving shower door or lean forward to grab on to a glass counter top. The sink does not have a lot of room and was inconvenient for use by two people. There were no full length mirrors and no drawers for clothing. We were happy that windows could be opened but surprised that there were no screens to prevent bugs/birds from flying in the room. The hotel is not in an ideal location for access to the city but we knew that ahead of time. The breakfast quality was poor compared to another similar hotel we had stayed in just before visiting Florence. The milk for cereal was warm each day and the cereal choices were all too sweet and not healthy. The breads/pastries we tried were not worth wasting calories on and the fruit did not look fresh- Grapes were brown each day. We did meet some friendlier staff along the way- Sith at the front desk was outstanding- He offered valuable information and had a wonderful friendly and welcoming personality. Others should model after him!
The hotel is located in a good position: not far from the centre and the "Santa Maria Novella" railway station. Kind staff, clean rooms, and good bar. Breakfast buffet complete but not excellent. A fitness room is available.
We stayed at the A.C. hotel in Florence. Our experience was great from the booking process till checkout. The rooms were nice the service was great, and people were quite helpful. They helped us in getting our tours booked and gave us a coupon code that got us a 5% discount for all the tours we took. The bar tender at the hotel was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is planning to visit Florence.
Great location with just a taxi ride away from downtown, clean, awesome breakfast, customer service is great, knowledgeable staff thank you for the great experience, would definitely use again. When on vacation we spend little time at hotel during the day, this hotel met our needs.
The staff at the hotel were quite friendly and accommodating and the hotel new. This brand is very European minimalist and the amenities were sparse. The rooms are very small and beds aren't really Marriott standard. I was told I had an upgraded room, due to my platinum status, but if this was a bigger room, I would be afraid to see an average room. Two persons were hard pressed to not bump into each other. Additionally, the climate control was not working and the room was warm, even after I asked them if it was possible to make it cooler, I suspect this hotel turns off their air conditioning system out of summer months. I was on the 4th floor and still had lots of outside noise even with the windows closed. This hotel would be better suited to a quick overnight business stay and not a stay on holiday.
This was a return visit to Florence. The AC Firenze was on the list from our vacation package with the airlines. It is a Marriott hotel and while not in our preferred location (Near the train station), it was relatively close. We checked with the hotel and were told it was a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was at least 15-20 minutes with luggage in tow, but not a problem overall. There is a tram that stops very close to the hotel, which we used often and it made everything more convenient. The hotel and the rooms were quite lovely and spacious, all very clean. The staff were impeccable and made you feel very welcome. There was a lovely morning breakfast bar, full American, with lots of choices. The one drawback is that there was not currently a restaurant in the hotel, although there was some arrangement for food service. There are several restaurants within walking distance and of course there is all of Florence as well. There is a newly renovated bar in the lobby. It is very attractively designed. It was not surprising to see business clientele at the hotel. The location may not be the most favored area for tourists since it is not right in the center of Florence but since anything we wanted to see or visit was within walking distance or accessible to public transportation, it was not a problem for us. We did NOT need to use a cab, although they were available. One additional feature is that there is a rooftop terrace that has a great view of the city, very pretty at night. We clearly would stay here again!
Had the pleasure of staying at this fine hotel. Dorio was amazing he checked us in and we constantly relied on him for directions and recommendations. He is an asset to the hotel. Breakfast was very good and they had a full bar. I was very impressed!
