Welcome to Leech Lake Lodge!
Welcome to Leech Lake Lodge! We are located in Federal Dam as a part of the Isle Harbor community on Portage Bay. We offer a private community beach and a covered dock space 0.1 miles up the road in a protected harbor for your boat to stay safely overnight despite any weather. Our back yard bumps up against the Battleground State Forest and there are more manufactured hiking trails then you could possibly cover in just a weekend. Some of the trails themselves are accessible from our yard. There is also a large yard and bonfire pit for outdoor activities. We also have a basketball hoop if you would like to show your family that you still got it! Downtown Walker is only a quick drive away and offers restaurants, shopping, and so much more.
The house itself is a spacious open concept, two story, log cabin. There is a deck with a view of Leech Lake for your party to enjoy. Upstairs you will find a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and silverware. In addition, there is a dining room as well as a living room with a smart flat screen TV for you to stream anything you would like. Downstairs features a party room with a mini fridge that your guests can enjoy. There are two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs. The downstairs bedrooms include the master, with a smart TV, closet, and brand-new queen mattress. The other bedroom downstairs features a bunk bed. Both upstairs bedrooms are queen beds. The bathroom is located downstairs and is a full bath including a tub, shower, toilet and other small amenities.
We welcome pets but ask that you keep them downstairs, there is a built in gate to help divide between the two levels. Dogs must be on a leash in the community areas however, taking them for a walk off leash is very easy on the trails that connect to our yard.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 4 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine and a coffee maker.

The house was not clean—dead bugs everywhere, ashes/tobacco on the end tables, the carpet clearly hadn't been vacuumed, and the bathroom was absolutely filthy. The tub was also clogged completely so no one could shower. The fridge had a pink sticky substance all over and there was liquid in the drawers of the fridge that smelled awful. We had to clean the fridge and bathroom before unpacking. There was also no toilet paper so we had to leave and go get that during the cleaning process. The listing promised a lake view, but there was none. The host ignored multiple messages and only responded right before checkout, promising a cleaning refund that I never received. Totally unacceptable.

Nice area and beach
The little resort the property is located in is very beautiful. My family loved the little beach (beach has not toys or anything so bring your own). Beach/lake is a half mile up the road. We brought our bikes so it was perfect for us. This is a nice place if you plan on spending majority of your time outside of the cabin. The whole two story has one wall ac unit that wasn’t working at all while we were there. Cabin got up to 90 degrees. For the nightly cost, I would have expected cabin to be more clean (there were dead bugs and everything not wiped down nicely). Loved that they allowed dogs and were laid back about number of people. Owner/manager had good communication and offered to come help with the air but was a long distance away and the weather cooled off by the time the holiday was over. Beware also that there is not a good grocery store nearby. Closest seemed to be around 20 minutes away. The upside is you felt like you were truly one with nature. Lots of bugs on the property, doesn’t seem like any mosquito removal or hive removal is invested in. Huge hive on the house. Patio furniture was dirty and no grill. I think the place has a lot of potential if small improvements and care is taken to go the extra mile and provide a few more comforts in the stay. Seems like they are newer to short term rental coming from someone who has rented A lot on here. Overall, we still had a great time. I think it’s a great place, but as is, was not completely worth the nightly cost.

Sleepless nights - miserable trip. Left early.
When we booked the house it was listed as “air conditioning “. When we arrived there were bees swarming us. Bee hives around the garage and house. We went inside and the temperature was 88 degrees. Finally we figured out it only had the window air unit for an upstairs living room with no air in any bedrooms. The freezer was left open. So we had to clean that up. The four of us had to share both rooms downstairs as it was miserable upstairs. The window unit could not cool the place down. We lost power due to the storm. Had to throw out our food. When the Power came back on. Window air unit ran all day and the temp when we arrived was 85. Overnight it got down to 78. Miserable trip. There were cobwebs everywhere. The host expected the window unit to cool the house down in one hour. Did not happen. It would have been nice if someone would have had the air on knowing it was going to be hot out. He left to us to manage the property. Oh. And the fire alarm started to beep. Had to drive back into town and buy a battery. Would not recommend! We left early!

Fall Family Pheasant Hunt
Had a great stay at Leech Lake Lodge!
Perfect location for our fall family pheasant hunt at Bader's Pheasant Run which is just minutes away. We were here when the fall colors were out and really enjoyed walking the nearby trails and the beautiful fall views from rooms and deck.
The lodge worked out great for us - there was space for everyone to sleep, plenty of bedding, towels, dishes & small appliances - even a couple of comfy dog beds & dishes for our pets. Some nice small touches too - our grandson loved the bath bombs that turned the bathwater fun colors!
Host was super responsive and accommodating to our requests.

Family Getaway
Nice property, dog friendly. Accommodation is a bit tight. While it says it can sleep 10, the general living area comfortably accomodates 6 with seating, etc.
Definitely enjoyed our time together.
