This duplex is old and run down. The upper floor was fine. It did have a smell of an older house, and definitely needs new carpets, but it’s clean and was doable to us for a cheap price! Bedding and towels were new and clean.The lower unit is a different story. While it appeared relatively clean, the smell was so strong we didn’t use it. It was a combination of chemicals and animal odors. It did look like they had tried to shampoo the carpets which I know brings everything up, so maybe it was at its peak when we arrived. I gave them two stars because the hosts were lovely and accommodated our request to cancel the use of the lower unit. I would rent from the hosts again, but not this property unless carpets had been replaced!
