Nice hotel with a good reception amidst a bottle shop so u can’t be short of drinks... umm. The beach isn’t far a good walking distance too. Very nice and clean beach front. This hotel room house for a family of four and very reasonably priced. Could do with a chair or two but there is a lot seating outside but would require to battle with shameless flies. A good value for money.
We stayed one night, and they added a $50 deposit to the room charge - a bad sign for any reputable hotel, but we were already there. The check-in sheet said there was a continental breakfast at their affiliate hotel around the corner, so we went there the next morning. We checked in with that hotel's reception, who called to check we were guests at Towradgi, and confirmed that the cold breakfast was included, and it'd be $3 each to upgrade from the free breakfast to the hot breakfast(we declined). We even stopped by reception on the way out and weren't told anything different than when we arrived, other than the gate code to get back to the Towradgi more quickly(something that wasn't given on Towradgi's side). Long story short, the price of two "hot breakfasts" at $18 each were deducted from the deposit, and when I explained via email we'd had confirmation at the hotel that it was both free and not the hot breakfast, Jenny, the manager at Towradgi, simply stated that staff said we had the hot breakfast and that no breakfast was included with our stay, and that was the end of the story. There was no service at the breakfast area for us, just one staff member who appeared to be hovering by the kitchen and never came near our table, so their staff arguing what we ate that morning is rather suspect - unless hot water for tea and toasting a slice of bread constitutes a "hot breakfast". At the absolute very least, we definitely would've opted for a cafe near the beach for $18 each, and not a couple of cold croissants in a hotel lobby. But more importantly, we were charged for something we were told by staff was included, and even charged extra for something we did not receive, and management is completely ok with that. Beyond that, the rooms are well worn, with stains on the carpet and a bit of a musty smell. We didn't expect much, but wouldn't recommend this hotel based on the cleanliness alone, regardless of how shady the staff and managers seem to be. I'd be uncomfortable leaving valuables in the room after this experience.
Great place to stay, the pub has a great atmosphere and the food was very nice and not too over priced, the specials were great value. The motel is comfortable and its in a quiet location away from the main road. My only gripe was checking in at the bottle shop because the staff were busy serving customers so there was a bit of a wait.
The was not bad it had a spa the bed was Ok as long as you didn't knock as it moved and it would pull the bedside light plugs out of the wall, and Aircon was very noisy, apart from it was ok. only food is in the resort next door
Friendly staff. Room was comfy and well equipped - iron, hair dryer, kettle, toaster. Recommended to have a car as it is quite a long walk to the nearest bus stop or shops.. A short drive gets you to Fairy Meadows or Wollonggong CBD and North Gong beach.
Filthy room . Rubbish under bed. Bathroom was disgusting. Tradie put a new door on and left some poo on the toilet. Yes real poo. Receptionist comment, oh sorry about that. Noisy neighbours. Of course no one to ring late at night. I complained and was told i would get a refund of some sort, still waiting. I have photos and i will send them to Choice Hotels. The only good thing about this place is the good food and service at the hotel next door.
When we arrived at our hotel, there was a sign to go inside the liquor store. We did and we had to wait for 30 minutes before everybody who wanted to buy alcohol had paid.. Only when they had no more customers, they gave us our room key. We had a good laugh. Rules are different in different parts of Australia. We drove to our room and we felt relieved that the bed was comfortable. We even had a sofa. We had a table with two chairs and WIFI as well. The shower was warm, like we liked it. There was even a TV. What I liked the most, there was no noise at all in the hotel. Wow I like that! We slept deeply every night while we were here. Worthwhile to see!
We stayed here for 2 nights recently, booking through Booking.com, we were supposed to get 2 x 2 double rooms but ended up with 1 x 2 double and 1 x double + sofa as there is a system error between them and Booking.com but they can't seem to fix it (for past 2 years I was told). My son ended up sleeping on the floor the first night as 2 teenage children could not share it due to the size. The staff were apologetic and very nice though and as helpful as they could be by giving a trundle for second night and breakfast on the second morning. The facilities are very basic and old though and $200/night is about twice as much as you should pay. The location is great and the hotel next door is great for entertainment and food was outstanding. The noise is a huge problem though as the rooms walls are so thin so we didn't get much sleep. Plenty of parking.
Had reason to stay for 1 night on a Saturday - what a mistake. Check in - poor there is no reception you have to go to the bottle shop to check in , do not bothering to try before 2pm not even 1:58pm as system will not allow it. Was given room #5 Parking - out front of room be early as pub patrons park there as well being a safer parking area. Room - Old, paint peeling, dirty walls , worn dirty carpets, windows and sliding door with no fly screens. Beds - old, extremely soft (from use) no support, beding has been cleaned but had stains you could see especially on the whites. Very small double beds?? - large room no reason why queen beds could not be used obviously a price decision to use lessor beds. Air conditioning - broken remote, 2 speed settings fast and faster and loud. Where the air con is situated faces across the top of the bedding so when on it is blowing across your face especially if you in bed closest to the wall it is on. The air con air also smells bad, I guess it been a while since filters or unit was cleaned. If you turn off the air con during the night the room gets really hot, you cant open the sliding door as there is no security screens and even then it leads to a back yard that runs across and around all the other units doors with no fencing between units. There was really heavy beer pong game going on for hours in same area by other patrons in room 2 doors down. No security was evident during our stay and there are really no security measures around rooms. Bathroom - what a shocker!! Mould, mildew and hair everywhere. The shower pressure is poor and for the first time a leaky shower head that was spraying onto the widow ledge then running down the wall on the OUTSIDE of room. so poor. Pay Tv - keeps dropping out not worth the effort. This motel needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt as it isn't clean, safe or comfortable. Staff really do the minimum in cleaning, maintenance, presentation and security as evident by the state it is in. It really is poor. Would we stay here again ? NO, NOT ON YOUR LIFE _ STAY AWAY!!
We just needed somewhere basic for the night and this is what it is - a bed for the night. Not a bad price and was good enough. The interior needs an upgrade - the carpet was stained and lifted, the bed was lumpy and weak, there's no fly wire door, and you only get one key. The air con didn't work either. It was on and air was coming out but it was just warm air despite having selected cool and turned it down to 16. So it was a really hot night. Check in was also fairly poor. We had two couples checking in at the same time and the staff half checked one in, was advised there was another check in too, went to get the key, then served 6 people in the bottle shop. So both couples then had to wait for that to be done which took some time. This isn't ideal when you have somewhere to be - the wake from a funeral. Not the best service. Convenient spot though for the pub next door where the food was quite good.
