We had to change our trip, we contacted the Inn almost 65 hrs in advance to cancel, the Landlord or owner, REFUSED to refund ANY of our money, its simply a Crappy way to do business, i wouldnt recommend this place to ANYONE

Very good location. Comfortable and well kept rooms and bathroom. If you're just wanting a place for a good night sleep and a good shower, this place is perfect. Reason I give this place a three star is that while this is labeled a "Breakfast Inn", they DO NOT SERVE BREAKFAST! In the printed sheet that they have on your bed, they mention breakfast options in restaurants nearby. Before 7:30 AM, you will not find any place to eat breakfast. And so if you're trying to hit the trail before the it gets hot, you better pack some breakfast food. You expect more from a inn which label itself to be a 'B&B' and charges you $150 per night. Even a bottle of water is not left behind for guests. While the owner/inn keeper has a coffee pot in his room for their personal use, there is no coffee pot in guest rooms. I tried to walk on Main street at 6:30 AM to find a cup of coffee, and couldn't find any place open. Esca-latte Restaurant in next door Escalante Outfitters, provides terrific coffee and breakfast choices, with great customer service. But you have to wait until 7:30 AM for them to open.

The owner/host, Tom, is personable and informative. We only had one full day to spend in the Escalate National Monument, so he told us the top 3 things we should do. It took us all day to do those three, but we were very glad we followed his advice. The King room was basic and clean, with a giant bed and (if you spend any time in the room) LOTS of TV channels. Be sure to read the rules of the house - informative and important. We're staying with Tom the next time we go to Escalante.

Manager/inn keeper so helpful in taking the time to orient us to the area. He was a varital fountain of information;-)

Tom (the owner) is just indescribable as an inn-keeper. WONDERFUL does not do him justice. Tom checked several times while we were un-loading to see if there was anything he could do or get to make us comfortable. The BEST STAY I've had in a very VERY long time. The pictures shown on the ORBITZ site do not do the facility justice. NEW rooms, NEW furnishings, fresh paint, easy off-street parking, COMFORTABLE BED, quiet A/C-Heater unit. All that and then even a stuffed lion (hanging over the split rail bed frame) to keep your party company (and he is cute, too!). The room motif (at least ours) is South Western (keeping with Escalante - Grand Staircase NM, with the Ranger Station just up the street). There you can get the latest information about conditions to be found in this National Monument. Tom recommended several local establishments (within walking distance) and described the menus, prices and basically what you could expect from each. He reserved his best recommendation to the place (across the street, which is a combination exploration outfitter/pizza-bakery establishment). We got great pizza (the menu looked very inviting) and also got some 'glitz' and we still bypassed the shoes, clothing, books, medicines, camping and climbing supplies, while debating if we needed any of the reasonably priced sectional maps covering the entire area. Breakfast was simple but filling (freshly prepared Italian frittata with fruit accompanied by hot coffee).

Basic, met our needs, knowledgeable host gave us a wealth of information about the area, including a slot canyon that was easily accessible. Beds were a bit firm for our preference, but that is different for everyone. Host has experienced problems with guests who have lit fires IN their rooms in the past, expensive damage. Understandably, he has implemented some rules (common sense to most people) to protect the property. If you can't abide by reasonable behavior or if you lie about smoking on the property, find another place of lodging. Personally, I am quite pleased with the no-smokers rule. Breakfast was good home cooking and a healthy portion (not overly large) wihich was fine for me, but if you have a big appetite you may want more.

No coffee machine in the room. Did not get hot water. Owner fixed something and then got lukewarm water. Well decored room.

For a town of almost 800 pps, we didn't know what to expect with Escalante. Our stay at "Escalante's Grand Staircase B&B Inn" turned out great, mainly b/c the owner, Tom, simply loves what he does and takes his role in the hospitality/lodging industry seriously. Tom was very detailed in providing need-to-know info, rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast environment was inviting in getting to know other guests while eating good food. Very comfortable king bed, hot water supply & pressure worked great! One suggestion -- Barrier between rooms needs better insulation against noise. I expected to hear, and didn't mind, the rooster's early AM wake-up call outside, but I didn't like so much hearing our neighbors (nice people) through the walls so easily.
