I will start my review by saying that the property is beautiful and has lots of Old World charm. It’s huge so the drive from the main gate to the reception took about 5 minutes. It also features a golf course and country club. That said, this will be a bit long because there are a few things that should be considered for anyone interested in staying here. If you decide to stay here, I would recommend getting here during the day. We got here during the night and the drive across the border from San Diego and going through Tijuana was nerve racking to say the least. Be prepared to have random people walking on the roads at night (there are No Walking signs along the highway) and tolls. There were two on the way and it was $1.90 US for cars. Check in was easy once we found the reception area. It is housed in the same building as the restaurant and the rooms are in the next building to the left of the reception. We decided to get dinner at the restaurant Restorante Dos Lagos but regretted it. The service was very slow despite the fact that there were only two other tables occupied when we got there. The servers appeared nice but were a bit passive aggressive. We weren’t given a starter and practically had to beg them to bring us water. After 10 minutes and asking twice, they finally came. There was a musician performing who was decent but the music was way too loud so we had to shout and point to our menus to place our orders. Thankfully he took a few breaks so we were able to speak to each other normally for a bit. As expected, the food took a while before it came and the taste was fine but we didn’t think it was worth it with the wait and poor service. Instead of waiting another 20 minutes between receiving the check and waiting for them to run the card, we decided to take the card up to the maitre’d and pay ourselves. We were given a first floor room which was clean and cozy. I should also note that they use metal keys and they didn’t have key chains on them. The room featured two full beds, a small table and seating area and a patio and our view was of the Oceana condo complex. would go with a room on the upper level. Unfortunately for us, the person in the room above ours decided to wear heels and we could hear every step they took on the tiled floor. Be aware that besides the complimentary toiletries, there aren’t any other hotel room amenities such as, irons, microwave ovens or refrigerators. I’m not sure if these items are available upon request. I WOULD NOT recommend this hotel if: -You have restricted mobility. There a few low steps throughout and no elevators. It is quite a walk from the parking lot, reception and restaurant and the rooms. -You are a light sleeper. This place features an old courtyard surrounded by the rooms which seems to be buzzing with activity at all hours. We arrived a little after 8pm on a Friday night and there were groups of people, including children gathered in clusters in the courtyard while chairs and tables were being packed away. By 11:45 pm it was an after-after party complete with very loud music and and raucous laughter. -You need a WiFi connection and will be dependent on the hotel’s network. We were given a username and password upon check in and could not access it for the entire duration of our stay. The network would disappear and reappear in the list of available networks and after saying you have the incorrect password about five times, it will say that it’s connected but it wouldn’t work. I’m not sure if anyone else has been able to use it but this was mine and my sister’s experience.
The price was the only good part of my visit. Here are major concerns. no complimentry breakfast No coffee no elevator no ice machine no English speaking TV No satilite TV no refrigerator no view of golf course or ocean.
I would reiterate how comfortable the beds were. My wife and I were quite surprised. We went down for a friends birthday at La Salina and stayed here for one night. We plan to go back down and stay here longer, play golf and then hit the wineries which are not far away.
The grounds are nice, I'll admit, but the rooms are filthy (there was a huge glob of hair on our bathroom floor, not from us). We stayed in a junior suite, which had some charm but it was not properly cleaned. More importantly, we live in Southern California and brought our US passports and our two year old daughter's birth certificate, with us. These items NEVER left the room. On the day of our checkout, I found that my daughter's birth certificate was missing. I went to the front desk to complain about it and they looked at me like I was crazy. Clearly, someone in housekeeping stole the document; again it was tucked away in my passport, which never left the room. They were so unhelpful and rude. We never found the birth birth certificate which resulted in 30 minutes of being detained at the border. Fortunately, we all made it home after security checks but I will never stay here again.
The golf was outstanding as always! We come here every year for a boys golf weekend and the courses never let us down. Amazing views especially on the Oceano course! The hotel is above average, but don't expect much from the restaurant service. They are on Mexico time and move at a snails pace. I rate the place a 4 based upon the golf. We will be back.
We stayed at Hacienda Bajamar Golf Resort, Salsipuedes for wine tasting tip last February. Rooms and ground are very clean and nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We are heading back down in May for another trip to the Valle de Guadalupe for some more fun at the world class wineries.
Very nice room overlooking golf course. Excellent mattress, bathroom could use a reno. Very typical hacienda architecture. $75/ night. Restaurant was very good, great service and extremely reasonably priced. Worth driving the extra 10-15 minutes south of Rosarito Beach. Would come again. Golf courses (27 holes total) appeared to be in excellent shape. Very peaceful. Great walking within safe gated community.
It is one of the most amazing gem of a resort, truly the friendliest and best accommodations I had experienced in a very long time. The rooms are comfortable with amazing views. Highly Recommend it. Service was over the top as well as the restaurant.
Drove down to Bajamar from San Diego. The resort is securely located on a huge scenic golf course. The rooms are nice, beds are comfortable and the service was great! The bathrooms are old and have some rust stains, but overall it was a pleasant stay! Best part was breakfast and happy hour. Also the massages were nice, but they only take cash (pesos or dollars).
We visited the area for leisure and relaxation. The resort was in a good location for what we wanted to accomplish; Close to Valle de Guadalupe (wine tasting), Puerto Nuevo (lobster), Ensenada (nightlife), and Bajamar (golf). Keep in mind that YOU ARE in Baja Mexico. Under that context, I do not expect a brand new 5-star resort with plush amenities. That being said, I feel I nearly received a 5-star experience and service. The resort in safely located in a gated and secured private development surrounded by inclusive residents (and what looks like a community that was originally planned to inherent hundreds more). None-the-less, it made for a much more peaceful and beautiful property right on the Pacific Ocean. The golf course was top notch quality at reasonable prices. Three 9 hole courses combine for an amazing round no matter how you play it. Oceana, Vista, and Lagos are the 3 and all well designed with fantastic ocean views. We also took advantage of the health spa, pool/hot tub, bar, and restaurant with no complaints. Our room was a suite with kitchen, living room with pull out sofa & dining table, and separate bedroom with golf course view. Minor issue with heater was corrected promptly. Everything we needed was included. Although, it was the offseason we received pleasant weather. The value for price paid was an absolute steal. Only negative was the cable TV which was iffy but I wasn't in Baja to sit in a hotel room and watch TV anyway. Front desk gave us a fast pass upon checkout for expedited travel back across the border which was limited to only 35 mins. I will definitely return to Bajamar again!
