We arrived shortly after 4pm, both rooms were ready upon arrival. Thalia helped us check in, which went smooth and swift. Our rooms were perfecto! Full view of the beach and water!!! Ask for room 222 or 223 and you will not be disappointed. Moses, who takes care of the beach and anyone on it was a pleasure to speak to. He introduced himself the very first time we went to the beach and spoke to us every time we passed. The rest of the staff was equally helpful and friendly, anything we needed we just asked and received. we opted the morning american breakfast and it was very well planned out and delicious. It's located near shops and restaurants are a short walk along the boardwalk. We had a wonderful stay here and if you are in the area.... Again, I will tell you BOOK THIS HOTEL
Quite simple hotel with nice rooms (specially ocean view rooms) but with very limited service and commodities. Restaurant is mediocre with a very short wine list considering it is placed in the middle of a superb winery region. Well placed in front of the beach where they organize private events, so forget about relaxing. Too expensive for another hotel in the mediterranean coast with nothing really special.
Located right on the beach, 5 mins walk from the town and several restaurants but in a guiet area. Transfer from Barcelona airport is about 45 mins by car. 20 mins walk to Calafell station from where it's 55 minutes by train to Barcelona city and about the same to Tarragona. We used the hotel transfer service - €125 each way (same as a local taxi), very reliable and punctual. Reception staff were helpful and efficient with both check-in and directions. Breakfast buffet was very good - wide selection and good quality. Management were keen to provide a high level of service and looked after us well. Room was a good size with a comfy bed, plenty of storage. One problem is that the toilet smelt of urine - an issue we noticed last time too; this needs to be sorted out. TV only has Spanish channels apart form boring news ones in English; an international hotel should offer a better selection in the world's most widely spoken language. Beach is wide and sandy and the sea was very calm. Mustafa, the hotel beach attendant is very good at ensuring everybody gets a lounger. The beach is not private but there is an area dedicated to hotel guests with new parasols that provide good shade. The outdoor pool is on a roof terrace at the rear of the property - it has comfy loungers and the water is great - no stinging if you open your eyes. The gym was modern and well equipped. Public areas are clean and well maintained. Overall an excellent beach hotel.
Our family of 4 - my wife, daughter and mother-in-law spend 3 days and 3 nights at Le Meridien RA and honestly cannot come up with a single complaint. The room was laid out well with an ocean-front view and plenty of space for our down time. The bathroom was very modern and spacious as well. They provide bathrobes and slippers and the beach towels are huge - just right! The wifi was a little touchy at first, however, once you get the hang of it, was solid as well. Lunch on the beach was a prompt and tasty. The buffet breakfasts are a must - truly a highlight and great way to start the day. We essentially stayed on site the entire time, other than to walk down the boardwalk for a meal or two at night-time. We saw all kinds at the resort - families with small children, retired couples, newlyweds and smiles on everyone's faces!
We stayed her for 6 nights with our two young kids (4 and 1). The hotel has a kids club, so I assumed it would be kid friendly and to some extent it is. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, particulalry Jaume at the bar - nothing was ever too much trouble and Moses at the beach. We had a suite room, with a sliding door to seperate our room form the kids. The curtains are blackout, so the room was nice a dark. Only draw back was no balcony, and nowhere to dry wet things. Also the rooms aren’t sound proof within the suite, so don’t make too much noise once the kids are down. The room was clean, the double big was very big. I would argue too soft, but that person opinion. The spa is amazing, and was included in the price of the room. I highly recommend a visit - no kids under 15. The hotel also has bikes you can use, including two kids seats not he back and there is a long path along the beach to cycle on - although best avoided on the weekends as its super busy. Don’t park you car at the hotel for €15 a day, but rather on the street next to the hotel. Breakfast was very good with a great selection, including Cava should it take your fancy. We ate at the buffet one night and the bar twice. The food is pretty average in the evening, and I think they’re missing a trick by not having a great seafood restaurant or grill on the beach. The main restaurant seemed very expensive and it wasn’t until our last night that they set the table up outside to eat, but it had been warm enough all week. I’ve seen a few reviews about this being a conference hotel, which I have to say is true, but didn’t effect us until our last night. When we arrived there were two weddings taking place, but everything was still available to us and we weren’t really disturbed by any noise. There were various conferences that also took place. However, on our last night we were woken at 12.30am by very loud music and signing. We called to reception to complain to be told we were 10th call and soon after the music stopped. When we spoke to the manager the next day it turned out that was the reversal for a party that night - luckily we were leaving that day and who rehearses at 12.30am! A few things to be improved: The pool doens't open until 11am in the week and shuts at 6pm! Surely the hours could be longer. As mentioned above, the pool shuts at 6pm, the beach bar seems ot shut at 4.30pm but none of the restuarants, including those outside the hotel open until 7.30pm. The only place to get food for kids is at the bar sitting around a coffee table - not ideal. They have plenty of IKEA high chairs, but without the tray, so if you're sitting at the bar you have to hold all of your child's food, not very relaxing. The system for beach towels is a bit strange, you either have to change them at reception, or wait for them to be changed by house keeping, but there is no service to do this at the beach or by the pool. If you have room without a balcony, there isn’t much space to hang things in the very big bathroom - could more hooks not be put up.
I stayed here for 3 night while attending a conference and I think that the front desk staff could actually work on their reception. The food is excellent and the staff at the restaurant are helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The gym wasn't open before 7 am so I had to go the front desk every morning to ask them to open it for me other than that it was ok. The beds are too hard and I didn't sleep for three nights... The wifi works but it is not the best and every time your go from your room to the restaurant or the beach/conference room and back you have to log in again which is very frustrating. I was going to stay there four nights but the didn't have any rooms available on the fourth night when I checked in, they said they would update me on the status of staying with them on the fourth night. Three days went and no one said anything. On the last day I talked to the front desk and they said that they had couple of rooms available earlier that day but not anymore. I was pissed. They should have contacted me earlier but they didn't and now I had to change to another hotel for my fourth night. Not only that, when I was checking out the guy at the front desk was giving me an attitude about the booking and how the payment should be done when checking out. I have always paid when I have booked so this was new to me but this guy was very rude.
Worst stay as a Platinum in any Le Meridien Hotel worldwide. Unfriendly staff Old, dirty rooms No Platinum recognition Dirty - eg they prepare the outdoor breakfast at 4pm the night before. The dishes and utensils will definitely be clean the next day😉
The front desk is a bit disorganized - there seem to be one person Marcus who knew what he was doing. The hotel is very nice, but extremely plain and white - nothing exciting. Our room was in the modern part of the building and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. The rooms are extremely clean, but again very plain and modern. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the wait staff was VERY good! This hotel is pretty much on the beach - there is a boardwalk that separates the hotel to the beach. There are several restaurants to choose from in the little town.
The hotel is definitely not a 5 star it is claiming to be, I would struggle to rate it as a 4 star. The overall look - a bit shabby: mismatching doors, carpet that is not fitted properly, tiles with gaps in between. Whilst the hotel is far from cheap, starting from stay to drinks and food - the service doesn't stand up to it. It appeared to be a conference happening during our stay and I can say the majority of hotel staff and all the management has clearly been all over the conference guests, with banquets, lunches and events for them all over the place - as a non conference guests we felt completely out of place, like we should not have been here at all. It got to the point of them closing the buffet restaurant for few nights to accommodate conference guests and not informing the rest of the guests about it properly and only telling us when we actually walked up to the door. As a family with a little child it left us no option but to use the a la carte restaurant, which we tried before and found ridiculously overpriced. Breakfast options remain pretty much the same, also I got a strong impression that leftovers from the food served for the conference guests was given for breakfast (veal stew for breakfast?). Hotel claims to be family friendly, yet the kids club is located at the furthers point from anywhere else really. And after taking our 2 year old there, we were absolutely unimpressed with the staff. The pool only opens at 11 and the promised grill restaurant by the pool has been shut during our stay. The ice-cream truck they supposedly have at the beachfront during the nice weather - been parked at the front of the property, not serving anything. I have to point out that the guy at the beachfront, who is looking after loungers, etc - absolutely great! We have chosen this hotel thinking that Le Meridien hotel will be high standard throughout but we were clearly wrong. We would not be coming back to this hotel for sure.
Stayed here as part of a conference. Beautiful location, really nice resort, made awful by terrible customer service agents (in particular Michael). Checked in, was told I got upgraded, and ended up in a room that was made up of two single beds smushed together into a king bed. My reservation was for a king bed with a terrace. Called downstairs and was told my room was for two single beds and I'd been upgraded. Had to go downstairs with my phone to show that the reservation was for a king. Then the room got switched. I don't think I was really upgraded either, although I care less about that. Also on checkin, Michael pointed out that the restaurant that served ala carte meals only took reservations. What the heck? I'm staying on a resort and the one restaurant at the resort needs a booking for dinner? Or I'm stuck with a buffet? Stopped by the restaurant and found it was completely empty. (And they will take diners without bookings). Didn't argue, just drove to the town to get dinner. Didn't want to spend money with this place if they don't want my business. Later in stay, asked for an iron. Also discovered the hair dryer was broken. Was told to tell the "boy" who was coming up with the iron. The boy didn't come for nearly 30 mins and I had to call downstairs to find out what was going on, only to be told it was my fault for pointing out the hair dryer was broken (meaning they had to ask him to come back). When the boy came, he didn't come with a hair dryer. Also asked for a late checkout as a Platinum guest. Was told no because the hotel was fully booked. This despite the fact that the hotel had refused to acknowledge my second night room was cancelled on May 28, until I escalated to Starwood customer service. Feels like this hotel tries extra special hard to make hotel guests feel unwelcome. Nice location, needs a dramatic turnover of staff.
