Staff: Check in experience was great. The food service staff are THE BEST by far. They remembered us and knew what we needed before we had to ask. The food, even the buffet, was very good. However, the owner of the hotel had a private event for his friends in the lobby on the night of May 23 (if I recall the date correctly). Resources were clearly pulled from other duties to prepare for this party. It was disruptive to the guests and their needs. We had to walk around the main lobby to get to the elevators for two days and the hotel bar / lounge was off limits during the night of his private party. There aren't any other bars / lounges in the area that compare to this one, so it was disappointing that we did not have access to it during our entire stay. On our second night there, our room was not cleaned by 3:30 PM and we had to call for maid service to ensure we had clean towels to use when we returned from the beach. Room design and maintenance: Le Meridien is known for some very cool room designs. This hotel is no different. However, they are not maintaining them properly or fixing design flaws. Our glass walled shower was not properly sealed, which caused the bathroom to flood each time the shower was used. The maid service did mop it up each day when they cleaned the room (and even a 2nd time in the evening on those days we had to shower before dinner). However, it was frustrating walking in a puddle of water while getting ready to leave the room for the day. There is clear evidence of water damage in the sleeping area caused by this, but it doesn't look like they are fixing the issue. Lastly, when using Orbitz to book your travel to this hotel, be sure they understand that it is pre-paid by your Orbitz booking when you check in and when you check out. When I checked out, they tried to charge me for the room. Their accounting department had not yet confirmed their receipt of payment from Orbitz and wanted to take a copy of my credit card in case they don't get paid by Orbitz. It took about 10 minutes to clear this up and for them to understand that they need to clear payment with Orbitz, not me.
