I only utilized the downstairs bed and it was comfortable. I cooked most of my meals. The location, for me, was wonderful: in an old forest. Lovely!

We booked our stay prior to all of the reviews regarding smell. We saw the reviews the day before our trip and reached out to the host regarding obvious concerns of cleanliness and safety of the home. I also informed them we had a pregnant guest that was very sensitive to smell traveling with us. We were assured that several measures had been taken to mitigate the issue and that there had been no complaints since. We arrived and the place was potent with cleaning supplies. The first night, the scent (definitely a sewagy, mildewy type smell) was definitely noticeable but it was tolerable enough to not try and switch up accommodations late at night. We could not sleep downstairs though as it is strongest in the kitchen and bathroom area. All of us slept up in the loft. Each day the small got progressively worse. By day 3 it was horrible and we had every window open despite it being cold to be able to tolerate it. To top it off, drinking the tap water made all of us nauseous and the shower was luke warm at best. There is something seriously wrong with the water at this home and I legitimately question the safety of it. They need to be shut down until it is truly mitigated. We felt stuck here as to there were no other options in our budget with last minute prices or we have to change locations daily. I also did not appreciate being straight up lied to by the host regarding the condition of the home. This is unacceptable ethically and health wise. DO NOT STAY HERE

Needs TLC and horible URINE SMELL
This small home has lots of potential, but it's in need of more comfortable furniture and some newer kitchen equipment. However, the biggest issue is the SMELL OF URINE. Please look at reviews posted on the Vacsa site who hosts this property. There have been references to this issue for well over a year. They have not properly addressed this ongoing issue. We stayed away from the home all day and aired it out every evening before we could stay inside. You need a reservation to get on the ferry or we would have been tempted to leave early. We will never book a property hosted by Vacsa again.

Beautiful location, but the smell is unacceptable
Such a beautiful location. Small, but perfect for my husband and I. The only problem is the smell is unacceptable. My husband isn’t a plumber, but has done some of our own dyi and thinks it’s a ventilation problem with the pipes. This is unsafe to breathe. I’m glad we didn’t stay any longer than a few days and we were gone a lot, or I count not have handled the smell. Something needs to be done before anyone else stays here.
Place was clean and great. Perfect getaway for couples trying to find solitude.

Sweet hidden cabin
Overall this property fit our needs for a couple nights. It had basic necessities in a private woodsy location. Not as clean as we would prefer, but our family was happy for beds, a bathroom, and kitchen amenities on Orcas!

Not as Advertised
This property is not correctly advertised and I would like for VRBO to contact me regarding a refund. We are 3 adult friends who wanted some room to stretch out, and seeing that this VRBO slept "5", we felt that we would be comfortable. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find only a queen bed and a loft that was marked as off limits to guests. The loft had the majority of the sleeping spots in the property. It was also advertised as having a pull out couch, which the couch in the living room is not. It left us feeling uncomfortable and squished. Unfortunately I can't recommend this property, despite it being in a great area and very cute. Good for a couple but definitely not for more than two adults.

Not as listed!
We booked this place with the understanding that it would sleep our 4-person group. It stated it has a one bedroom and then a loft with a bed. We got an email leading up to our stay that the loft would no longer be available due to safety concerns but were told there would be a pull out couch. That worked for us so we didn’t think twice. Upon arrival we learned that there actually isn’t a pull out couch, simply a couch. One person from our group had to sleep on the floor each night. The owner and management company (Vacasa) nickle and dimed us and didn’t feel it was fair to give us a reasonable refund. The listing still shows it sleeps 5. IT DOES NOT - BEWARE! Would not book this place or anywhere managed by Vacasa again.

We would gladly stay at this darling place again!!
This tiny home is extremely well appointed. The windows let in plenty of light and makes this place so cozy. The kitchen may be small, but it had everything we needed to cook....plenty of pots, pans, utensils, small appliances, etc. The furnace in this little place keeps the place very toasty and comfortable. The water for the shower and sinks heats up quickly, too. The location is nice and private and was easy to find. The property manager was amazing and helpful. The only drawback to our vacation was when I fell down the stairs and banged myself up badly and the property manager directed us to a local clinic to be seen by a doctor. We loved this place and do plan to come back again. Such a darling little place!

Cozy Cabin
My sisters and I enjoyed our stay at your Raccoon Retreat. It is in a nice spot, easily accessible to Eastsound, Olga, Mt. Constitution, and surrounding areas. One downside is that the beds in the loft were quite uncomfortable, so we ended up sharing the master bed, and with one sister sleeping on the couch downstairs. Overall, we had a lovely time.

Setting, lovely, quiet.
House: reasonably clean. Loft area seemed a bit dusty.
Suggestions:
1. Clear directions to location. Outdoor light near road or reflective house # clearly visible on road. We got lost. Thankfully, a Vacasa agent was available by ph and used her computer to help us locate the place.
2. All mattresses are tired and need to be replaced.
3. Refrigerator: building up ice along entire back. Also loud. Often indications refrigerator is about worn out. Was that way when we arrived. We did not touch setting.
Thank you again for providing housing in a beautiful place.

Well-appointed, convenient and cute.
Well-appointed and clean except for the urine odor in the master bedroom. It’s an adorable little cabin, but too bad about the smell. It wasn’t constant, but when you walk past the entrance to the ledge and also when passing through the hall. Linens, dishes, bathroom all clean. Convenient location.

Cozy Cabin in the Woods
My sister and I arrived on a stormy afternoon to find a clean and cozy cabin that heated up in just a few minutes. It is very small, but nicely appointed, with a nice kitchen, comfortable bed and great water pressure for a lovely shower. The hot water was hot and the cold water was ice cold and refreshing. Great taste too! The common living room area has magnificent ceilings, windows and an extremely comfortable sectional sofa. The area could use a small coffee table. But we placed the tv on the kitchen counter and used the tv stand as one. Problem solved. The deck is huge! Could use some outdoor furniture, but since the weather was not conducive for outdoor lounging it was not an issue. My only criticism is the loft space. The description does not contain the fact that unless you are 3 feet tall, it is not a space that can be used for anything other than sleeping. Even changing into pj’s can be a task. Luckily, my sister, who slept up there, is only 5 feet tall so it wasn’t a huge deal. I think it just didn’t seem to make sense that with all the privacy and land around that it was not just 4 feet taller. It makes me think that that space was initially created for storage. That said, if your party consists of 2 adults who plan to share the extremely comfortable queen size bed on the main floor bedroom, it is a cozy, clean, comfortable and very private little cabin in the woods, that I would definitely recommend! And the Vacassa people are very communicative and responsible.

Great for families!
We loved Raccoon Retreat! Perfect for our family of 4 with the kiddos (both 5 years old) having a blast in the loft area. That area would definitely be a bit small (height wise) to comfortably navigate by anyone over 5 foot, but was wonderful for the boys to have their own space. Management was very responsive to the only issue we had.

Horror Story
This is quite a complicated and long story to explain, but let me start with the good parts, stay tuned for the horror.
This was a beautiful but small home in a lovely secluded location on East Sound. Gorgeous windows, and a full kitchen. Smelled a bit like cat pee when we got there, but no big deal right? It was a deal and totally worth the price.
Everything was fine until the neighbor approached the cabin. Upon reflection, it seems that he was scoping us out the first couple nights that we were there. He, Bruce, came around 1 o’clock on our last night shining a flashlight in our cabin, yelling indiscernible things outside and brandishing a shovel. When my partner went out to tell him to leave, he began demanding that me and my partner follow him out into the woods. I will spare you from all of the details of the confrontation, but needless to say it was terrifying. He kept making veiled threats, and we both felt in danger for our life. We packed up all of our things, We called the police and we tried to make a plan to get away.
We spoke to Property Manager in about it, and it turns out he actually destroyed the cabin after we left, because one of the doors didn’t lock. Property management was kind at first and worked with me to get a refund. This was back in June, it is now august and I have not received any money back and the manager, Laura Wilder is ghosting me. I don’t want to cause a fuss I just want my money back. I do not recommend this home or vacasa on orcas
