A noisy group was right outside my room after 10 pm. I had to call Mgt to brake them up. Also sign on AC said use thermostat on wall. Thermostat was busted and did not work. Only way to control AC was with manual controls. Not very useful.
Nice staff and facilities.
This property is very convenient to dining & shops. They also offer a managers happy hour & breakfast. The rooms were clean & spacious. We will definitely stat here again!

Too much chlorine in the pool. No hot water when taking a shower at 0545.
There were nests of bugs in my hotel room, the coffee pot didnt work, there were smoked cigarette butts in a used cup on the balcony, the furniture was stained and looked absolutely disgusting. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and pillows were hard as a rock. The price should have been $40/night, NOT $380/night. The town was sold out of rooms so we couldnt even leave and stay some where else. We will NEVER be back, and will be demanding a refund.
The property is convenient to all the downtown streets in Durango. It's a five minute walk to the D&S Railway station and you can leave your car there while you ride the train or walk downtown. The staff folks were incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms were a bit old, the bathroom had a clog which they fixed quickly. The breakfast was good, the pool was ok too- though it was inside the atrium. I think for the condition of the bathroom and the age of the place the rate was bit high.

Plus side: Walking distance to Durango Station Depot, about 5 minutes walk. Minus side: aside from previous rating, don’t expect extra pillow, this is the second BW that always runs out of pillow, the other one in Albuquerque. Towels are limited for 3 guests even if you’re 4, you need to ask for it same in BW Albuquerque. AC unit is very old.
This was the best hotel we could have chosen for a weekend getaway to Durango. Extremely walkable to a wide variety of shops and restaurants and very close to the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Also very close to the Animas River Trail!
We just returned from a trip to Durango where we stayed at the Best Western Rio Grande. We really loved the location, as we were able to walk to the downtown area very easily. We were really happy to have a small balcony to sit on and the location of our room felt private. Josh helped us at the front desk and was really personable and friendly. He was handling a lot of guests at the front as well as training a new colleague at the same time. My husband and I were visiting during for the first time after meeting in Durango 24 years ago! It was so much fun and we really enjoyed our stay at BW Rio Grande. The only two things they could improve on is the breakfast, which seemed like only sugary options (need protein!) and the sink in the bathroom did not drain properly.
