I stayed in a studio room which was in the original wing of the hotel. The room got the job done but was nothing special. There were two queen beds which were firmer and very very comfortable. The bathroom had a range of soaps and body washes etc but I didn't use them so Im not sure what they're like. Plenty of towels with plenty of spares. Fridge had about 10 of those little milk capsules in it. There was also a tiny balcony that would be useful for smoking if you're one of those types. The room was relatively clean but had some spider webs on the roof beams which likely spawned the 4cm diameter white tail spider that was on the roof above me when i opened my eyes. If I were to visit again Id request a room in the new wing of the hotel. The hot buffet breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was over scrambled egg, sausages, bacon, tomato and mushroom with toast for $19.50. The food was probably not worth the price given the convenience of the towns cafes. There are two supermarkets about 2 mins walk away and the city centre is not much further.
What I liked about this hotel was the friendly staff, clean and very comfortable rooms (I was on level 4 of the older/main building). The meals were also nicely presented - breakfast eggs came on a warmed plate giving that extra special touch to keep your eggs warm instead of being placed on a cold plate.
This motel met all our needs after a long road trip from the moment we stepped through the reception to the time we departure.Rooms are quite big filled with all necessities. its friendly and helpful staff is part of Dunedin's southern charm. However central heating means one could either freez or sweat in the middle of the night.
Hands down the best hotel experience I have had. Great modern and spacious rooms, great ammenities and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff who go above and beyond to help. Will definitely return for my next trip to Dunedin.
Spent 2 nights here recently and loved our stay. We were greeted with an upgrade and I was very impressed with our twin room. Was super comfy, great view from our balcony. Room had everything we needed and more. The light in bathroom operates by sensor which went out when my friend was in the shower which I thought was pretty funny! Staff were all very helpful and room was very clean. The location was perfect for our girls weekend away. Walking distance to everything we wanted. Have stayed a few times before in the older building so was excited to be upgraded! Will be back again soon!
Fantastic beds close to town and the front desk was great letting us check out a little later due to one of our group being unwell Would highly recommend staying here. An easy walk to Forsyth Barr stadium
We stay for a night . It has been raining so we didn't manage to get much sight seeing in the city. The hotel staffs are friendly. The gym is working well. I left my coat in the hotel and they manage to find it back for me . Really thanks them for the effort of trying to return the coat to me.
Spent one night here before flying out. Drove in from Queenstown, hotel easy to get to. Great central location with easy walking to the CBD, Octagon etc. Upon arrival was given a room upgrade. Good service by reception! Room was a good size, well appointed. Great to have parking avalible. Dinner in the hotel restaurant good, as was breakfast. Would definitely stay here again, value for money.
We have stayed at The Victoria a couple of times and it always been the same- comfortably and clean but COLD! It was just 10c when we arrives last night expecting to be getting warmed up after a cold damp afternoon around Dunedin. The rooms take about an hr to warm up. If you plan on staying here, I would call the hotel a few hrs before you arrive and ask for the heating to be turned on!!
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The bed and pillows would have to be the best I have ever come across. In addition the staff were very helpful and exceedingly polite. The meals in the restaurant were lovely, service was quick.
