My husband is new to international travel and is not used to places not having a/c everywhere so he lamented that this place did not have it as we were there during the peak of summer. The windows do open but you get a lot of street noise. Beds were nice but the pillows were too soft for me. Good location with parking available, easy to walk to all the places to see in the downtown area.

Just had two nights at this excellent hotel. Ate in both nights as the dining at the Ports O Call restaurant is outstanding. Vegetarian options are very good. Kazz in particular provided exceptional service - thank you!

Fabulous hotel staff were great and eager to help with moving to a brighter room. Willie on concierge amazing 21 but so wise !!!! Very clean and comfortable and near centre also great parking although you need to pay! Laundry facilities good and wifi great. Also handy to have a coffee shop and bar downstairs would stay again when next in Dunedin

This hotel is perfectly situated. The service is the best and the restaurant is fantastic. The people are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you. Unfortunately the room had no air conditioning and we had a terrible sleep as it was so hot! Also the bed was terribly uncomfortable.

What an experience we had last night at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross! We've booked for their Christmas Dinner and it was of top quality. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. The food was excellent. Vaughn and her team was friendly and helpful and 5 stars for her for being such a good hostess. Chef Uwe and his team has cooked a beautiful buffet. The food was so tasty. Not too rich either. It was really a pleasant experience

We arrived in Dunedin late and went to this hotel where they couldn't do enough to get us checked in and comfortable. Room was nice and clean and well appointed and the desk staff did us a good deal for the buffet breakfast which was also excellent. We have stayed in the past and always enjoyed it.

Hotel perfectly situated near the heart of Dunedin (only a few minutes away from the octagon and all the street art walls), room was really nice with a good size bathtub and great bed (very comfortable) and size of the room was more than good to put all of our belongings. Nice parking and pretty cheap (15$ a night). The only thing missing in the room is an air-conditioning as the weather was pretty hot and heavy (still the fan made the job). Port of calls restaurant was really nice with good portions and the breakfast had a large varieties of food (extra mention for the bircher muesli who was excellent) just a small point on the scramble eggs who were a bit watery due to the steam. Otherwise very good service from Montana who was always smiling and attentive as well as her manager (sorry forgot the name but was really friendly and attentive too). will definetely come back.

I just stayed 5 nights here and would like to thank Bonn Tucker for her excellent service managing the breakfast buffet. Bonn is very welcoming, using one's name from first meeting and attentive to every need. The range and quality of the buffet was of a high standard. Thank you Mrs Tucker!

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Plenty of parking, but $15 per day.Dined one night in restaurant, not overly impressed and rather pricey. Spent the rest of our stay dining at the lovely cafe in the Casino. Fantastic food and really well priced. Our room was good, but there were a number of issues with the bathroom. Firstly, unless you are very flexible and supple, it is impossible to obtain toilet paper from the toilet roll holder whilst seated on the throne, as it is situated on the wall at the back of the toilet. Then , when you flush the loo, there is a ghastly gurgling sound for a minute or so afterwards, and the hand basin was very slow to drain. It would also be great to have shelving or hooks for one to put their toilet bag. There were two glass shelves, but these were occupied by tumblers, and the hook behind the door was not handy for this purpose. At checkout, when I mentioned to the staff member about the gurgling sound and slow draining, he just kind of shrugged his shoulders and said "thats the way it is". Pretty poor outlook.

I’m reviewing about the Restaurant that is called “Ports O’ call, Bar &grill!!” I never written down something how happy I was from the restaurant on App. When I got there with mom, Every staff were offering good service to people! Especially, she is Kazz(staff)! Even though I couldn’t speak English well, she was really nice to us and made us happy! My mom and me had the memorable dinner! The service was really awesome and Rib eye steak was the best steak I have eaten for the first time in 2years! It’s a shame I can’t stay longer here! If you guys visit Dunedin! I highly would like to recommend that you guys go to this restaurant
