This must have been a great hotel in its day. Now on the dated side of its glory days ... but staff were GREAT, room was comfortable albeit in need of renovation, and atmosphere still had charm of days gone by. Not for those looking for luxury but a neat place if you want convenient location, very economical lodging

Staff was polite and friendly. Building is super old and has lots of character, also very close to Cadbury and train station. Kitchen is small, but appliances work well. Bed was comfortable and only one other roommate in 4 person dorm. Bathroom and showers are clean with provided towel. Minus 1 star b/c the clothes dryer only half works and there is no youth life. Stay here if you need a quite night to yourself.

I found this hotel online and it was get reasonably priced and in the heart of the city. The hotel is a historic location and definetly felt that way. The carpet in the lobby was not fixtured to the floor, as well as many other signs of updates needed. Upon checkin I didn't receive the Kiwi welcome I was growing accustomed to from my other stays around the country. The young girl at reception seemed more annoyed I was there, not welcome or inviting. She gave me my key and left the conversation there. My room was nice for a shared 4 bed dorm. Bedding, towel, and a bar of soap provided. The bed was very comfy as well. The shared toilet and shower rooms were fine. The "free" internet never worked. Would have given a higher review if staff were warmer, wifi actually worked, and some updates were made. For the price, not a bad deal but would check out other places next time.
