Set around a ten minute walk into the walled city. A gentle slope down towards the 'old town'. The hotel itself has some beautiful views towards the walled city. our room 330 was on the 3rd floor (one level down from the reception on level 4) We had great and enviable views towards the city. The windows could be opened (fully) sideways to give uninterupted views but may give some safety concerns if you have children in the room. Our room was a superior double with sea view in the new part of the hotel. It had no balcony which was a little disappointing given the cost. Everything in the room and in the hotel in general was in excellent condition. There were some nice touches like the in room safe that you used your room key to open rather that setting a number combination. The twin beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed with both fixed and moveabel shower heads.A noce selection of complimentary l'occitaine bathroom products were replenished by a very slick team who serviced the room on a daily basis. Sheets and towels were changed on a daily basis unless you don't want them to be. An inroom fridge stocked with a range of drinks etc (for additional cost) did not allow enough space to keep any of our own drinks cool. The wardrobe was fitted with a dozen or so hangers and there were a few shelves. There was a good choice at breakfast which was self service except for tea/coffee which was served to your table (disappointingly, you could wait some time to be asked what hot drinks you wanted even if the room was fairly empty as staff appeared unable to multi task) The bar area was nice with a great outside space with excellent sea and city views. Free wifi.
Very expensive hotel , but location to old city is worth it . However this is not on a sandy beach , there is access to the sea though. No proper outdoor pool, it's anan old lido type pool. An indoor pool available .Hopeless for small kids
We just left Excelsior after a weeklong vacation in beautiful Dubrovnik. Excelsior is a beautiful hotel whose location is absolutely perfect--stunning seascape/Old Town views and a very short walk to Old Town and all the sites, restaurants, harbor, and shops. We stayed in the older part of the hotel (Villa Odak)--it's all been renovated so the rooms were very nice and well appointed, but window size is limited so would definitely recommend a balcony room if staying in this part of the hotel. The tower (newer part of the hotel) has much larger windows. We enjoyed a sunset glass of wine on our balcony almost every night! (Pemo Market nearby is an easy walk for inexpensive wine and snacks.) The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful--from reception, to concierge, to housekeeping, to the "beach" staff. Noise from nearby boats and on site weddings (there were at least 3 during our week there) could be a nuisance at times but didn't run late and they were beautiful to see in passing. Daily breakfast buffet and wifi, both included, were great. Overall, we were very satisfied and would return in a heartbeat!
We stayed here for 3 nights and were extremely impressed. We stayed in a classic double room which was adequately spacious for our party of three, even with the extra bed. The hotel has been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean. The staff were very helpful. The hotel offers free parking and when you pull up outside a member of staff parks your car and leaves your keys behind reception. The Excelsior is ideally located being just 5mins walk outside the old town. Sun beds are located on a sundeck and there is ample space. There is also a large indoor pool with spa pools, sauna and steam room. Breakfast options were very good. We also are in the deck side restaurant which was nice. A drink in the piano bar on an evening was very pleasant with an extensive cocktail and drinks menu. If you're looking for a good location for a Dubrovnik stay, look no further than the Excelsior.
Stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our honeymoon and the views of the ocean and old town was absolutely magical! We stayed in the Villa Odak suite which was heaps modern and spacious. Our room had a huge wrap around balcony where we'd sit in the morning and afternoon to watch the sunrise and sunset across the ocean and old town. The best part of hotel excelsior for me was the ocean pool which we didn't have to go into town to fight for a space on the beaches! Definitely will stay here again when we come back!
This hotel is a beautiful hotel close to the city it is easy to walk to the city and get back to the hotel to have a magnificent swim in the Adriatic coast. The breakfast is massive good food but I expected a little more high end food for the high price they charge. The views are amazing and the rooms very comfortable. The service is great.
Came for a friends wedding - absolutely gorgeous location and view on the palm terrace. Attentive staff, food served was bain marie self serve, very good quality. Top shelf drinks would definitely come back
We spent a wonderful week in this excellent hotel, great room with large sun terrace and beds overlooking the old town and sea view. The location is really convenient for the old town with ten minute walk from the centre and a selection of restaurants to choose from. The staff all very friendly and work so hard to keep up the great service and the high standards of cleanliness. If there was one drawback I would mention it would be the Spa and indoor pool, although all recently renovated, the changing rooms not big enough with no seating area or benches, and the steam and sauna not working prroperly. However, everything else was perfect. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We stayed at the Excelsior for four nights in July during our wedding, which was located at the hotel's Palm Terrace. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Things started with a little hiccup (we weren't thrilled with the location of our junior suite) so the staff went out of their way to move and upgrade us, giving us the Executive Suite. The renovation is so beautiful and the views are unlike anything else. The bath products are top notch and the linens are excellent. Make sure to dine at Prora, where just a few tables are situated right on the water's edge. You won't experience a more beautiful sunset, while drinking wonderful Croatian wine! We tried the fresh Sea Bass prepared in the traditional way and it was amazing! We would like to especially thank the following people who made our trip even more special: Anna Maria, Vesna, Denis and Petar. We can't wait to come back again!
At about the same rate, this hotel is much better than the one we stayed at in Split. Interior was modern, spacious and felt fresh. It offers a great view of the old town as well, the main reason we chose this hotel at the first place. Do make sure you have a balcony sea view to enjoy the view though. Service was really excellent. They somehow knew it was our honeymoon and we got a pleasant surprise in the form of champagne in our room. We left some shopping items in our room somehow too.. but they kept it and sent it too us with an express courier at a reasonable price. Great hotel! Hope to return one day.
