Good hotel, great position busy but breakfasts were ordinary and it is expensive and quite crowded at the swimming level Service not five star but I suppose a city hotel like so many others around the world so my expectations are too high
This hotel has a stunning location overlooking the Adriatic Sea and views of the old town however the hotel itself is quite tired. The decor in the main lobby and restaurant is dated and the room we stayed in was in major need of a new bathroom and some updates to the interior. The breakfast was mediocre at best- fruit was tasteless, coffee tasted bitter and hot food was poor quality. We paid over £300 a night to stay here and were expecting more for our money.
Beautiful building, nice location, very nice view (Lokrum Island&Old Town view). A very good choice for a trip to Dubrovnik.7 minutes walk from Old Town. The staff is very kind. It was a very nice stay.
We have just returned from this hotel where we spent two weeks celebrating our Silver Wedding. I am so pleased we chose this hotel and Dubrovnik. We had a wonderful view of the old city and Lokrum Island. The room was pleasant but the view spectacular. ALL the hotel staff were very accommodating, pleasant and impeccably well mannered. The location is spot on, a short walk to the old town. The hotel oozes old fashioned charm and the grounds are very beautiful. We ate at the Victoria Restaurant for our special day and it was truly wonderful watching the sun go down with the old city as a backdrop. There is an amazing outside lounge bar where you can watch the sunset too, which was surprising underused and a very romantic setting. Breakfast is on a terrace overlooking the amazing view ( please could you consider having a smoking end to the breakfast restaurant as this is not pleasant). We loved sitting on our balcony in the evening listening to the wonderful love music (piano, classical guitar) on the bar/restaurant below. I would heartily recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed. Thank you to the hotel and staff for making our holiday so wonderful.
This hotel is just stunning, with beautiful views, friendly staff and exceptionally clean rooms and hotel. Fantastic location. The dining area where we ate breakfast was out of this world. Delicious food. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and would definitely go back to this hotel.
We had so good expectations about the hotel but we are very disappointed afterwards. First we got to the check in and the old man at the front desk was very rude and inefficient, he didn't even say hello or greet us in any way. Then the room was quite small and the air conditioner didn't work well. We called the front desk and they sent someone to fix it. Then it wasn't fixed and we called again and they told us that that was the temperature of the hotel and that it cannot get any cooler and that we have to be pleasant with that since nobody had complained before ever. Also the first two days housekeeping was great; however the last day was awful they didn't even cleaned the wine glasses or left the complementary water bottle. The server at the beach/pool of the hotel was rude and not well mannered with any guest at all and also really slow. The breakfast buffet was good the had champagne to make mimosas but they did not made any variety of the plates offered. The overall service was average for what you are paying and the five star hotel that they claimed to be. The check out was not good either, the hotel was paid in advance and they were trying to charge us double. They should really check the balances of every room in advance. I wouldn't recommend it.
Fantastic hotel, well situated and just a short walk to the old town. The outdoor terrace restaurant was great with lovely, friendly staff. Pool area a bit crowded but it was August! Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Although expensive, in my view worth every penny. I would definitely recommend!
Grand Villa Argentine was a gorgeous place to regain our land legs after a week of sailing in Croatia. We had 2 rooms in the villa Argentina part of the hotel with fabulous sea views. The proximity to Old Dubrovnik town was great Staff at the hotel were very accomodating. The breakfast buffet offered just about anything you could desire and the view from the terrace was a perfect way to star the day We had some very hot weather so the pool are was just divine and the view of old Dubrovnik town spectacular. We would definitely stay again
First time at this hotel, second time in Dubrovnik. We could not have picked a better hotel for our family holiday. pool area was lovely and lots of beds, pool guys were fabulous and so helpful. In fact all the staff at the hotel could not do more for you, each and everyone of them. Rooms were very clean and nice, my only negative would the rooms for three are not very spacious and the put up bed which is the third bed was literally lodged against the window so unable to open up doors onto balcony. Close proximity to the old town with lots and lots of restaurants to choose from. We wasn't disturbed by any wedding noise at all although there were a few going on whilst we had our stay. Would we stay at this hotel again....absolutely!!!
My husband and I stayed at the Grand Villa Argentina for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the Old Town of Dubrovnik being out of the busyness of the walled city but close enough to easily walk there. The views were amazing and being right by the Adriatic was an added bonus. Our room was clean, spacious and well-presented; we were glad we had paid for a sea view! The style of the hotel is traditional and some have commented it felt dated; it would be easy to interpret this as it not being well cared for but this is not the case at all. The hotel as a whole is very well-presented and clean and has the feel of an old mansion house. (However, if you are looking for a modern, contemporary style then this is perhaps not the hotel for you!) The wi-fi in the hotel was excellent - never any issues with connection whether in our room or in the communal areas. Also, the grounds of the hotel were beautiful for numerous little paths and different sections meaning you could sit by the busy poolside or on a quieter bench overlooking the sea. Having read a few reviews that were not so complementary about some of the staff, I would definitely disagree. We found the staff, without exception, to be friendly, polite and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold foods with some variation each day. Eating outside with a view over the island of Lokrum and with the Old Town in the distance was a fantastic start to each day. For us, our only 'complaint' would be that the outdoor bar area where there was comfy seating could have done with some fans (like many of the restaurants in the Old Town have). The temperatures were particularly high when we visited but the outdoor 'ceiling' that offered shade also seemed to trap the heat meaning that the area felt very hot and 'close' and therefore didn't quite offer the respite from the heat of the sun that we had hoped. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and were pleased with our choice of hotel. We would happily stay at the Grand Villa Argentina again and would recommend it to others.
