We loved this hotel. It is a short walk to the city center (along the Elbe River) and the rooms are great. The bar and restaurant on site are quite good and the staff did a great job in accommodating our group. The chandeliers in the lobby look like an explosion of crystals. The rooms are spacious, clean and efficient . Safe in each room.
Stayed a couple of nights with a holiday group. Almost everything in this hotel is very good; location, lifts, rooms to mention just a few. The restaurant is ample and capable of serving a number of guests. There is a dedicated vegetarian menu which is worthy of praise. However, whilst all staff were pleasant, their efficiency sometimes bordered on "instructions" rather than "service". Nevertheless, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a lovely and historic city.
We stayed here one night as a part of a tour. This was a very nice hotel, right on the river with a lovely deck where you can sit and have a drink. It's within walking distance to all of the (reconstructed) medieval downtown. Other than my general notes (below) I have nothing specific to offer. Notes: if you like firm pillows, bring you own. Pillows in Germany tend to be lackluster feather affairs, and no amount of folding could keep the crick out of my neck. There also no washcloths, but I remembered to bring my own after my Greece experience. There was also no conditioner to go with the shampoo at any of the hotels we stayed at.
Room was excellent - very large and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent too, there was a good choice. Nice to have eggs prepared there and then by a 'chef'. Room service was patchy - minimum amount done. Items not replaced, tidied. Service in the bar in the evening was poor - gave up waiting to be served and left.
Then you are right here!! What a location, what a suite, what a terrace, what a view, what a breakfast .... all in all ... a great stay ... the most attractions and of Dresden can be visited by foot. Enjoy the riverside with great weather ... and close the day in the piano bar with a well-kept drink ... thanks for a great stay ...
We recently visited Dresden on a tour and were based in the Maritim for two nights. I cannot rate the hotel highly enough. To start with it is very central, the Staff all across the board couldn't have been more charming and helpful. The rooms were of a good size & very well appointed and seemed completely sound proof! The glass lifts and chandeliers are amazing. Unfortunately the stairs can only be used in an emergency. I have never been offered such a vast choice for breakfast, that is constantly being replenished. All in all a good experience! We also stayed at the Maritim in Berlin that was even bigger, but just as high class.
another good maritim hotel, well placed on the river next to the saxony parliament building, very clean spacious rooms with comfy beds.great breakfast in the restaurant looking out at the river.a short stroll along the river bank brings you to the old town.
I stayed at this hotel for seven nights. First, the pros. The primary reason I chose this hotel was because it was right next door to the International Congress Centre where I was attending a symposium; which, of course, was very convenient. The superior room that they gave me was very spacious and had a nice view of the river Elbe; although I would have preferred a double bed rather than two twin beds. The breakfast was quite good with an egg station, although the menu used to be exactly the same every day. The tram station is 5 minutes’ walk, from where one can catch the no. 6 or 11 trams. All the major attractions of the town are within walking distance. Now, the cons. The air-conditioning in the room was not comfortable, and it used to get quite warm. I complained about it, but I don’t think they really did anything. This is now the trend in most European hotels – they keep the temperature at about 25 – 27 degrees, and the controller in the rooms is just for show and doesn’t really do anything. The wi-fi quality in the room was also extremely poor. The housekeeping was horrible – definitely the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel of this class. A couple of days, the room hadn’t been made until late afternoon. Twice, the mini-bar refilling guy just knocked once and barged into the room. Also, I didn’t like the automatic coffee machine; I would much rather prefer an electric kettle so that I could make my own tea. Speaking of which, twice they forgot to replenish the coffee capsules. Twice, I found that the dirty cups/glasses had not been replaced or cleaned. And twice, they had forgotten to empty the garbage cans. Really, the management needs to look into this poor housekeeping matter seriously. In conclusion, I don’t think the hotel was worth the price. I don’t anticipate being in Dresden again any time soon, but if I am, I will probably be staying at another hotel.
I stayed in the Maritim in Dresden for nearly a week during a conference. The service has been impeccable, and they were even able to solve a little mis-booking problem in a jif. Very near to the old city attractions, my staying was a relaxing pleasure.
This is a very modern hotel with great rooms - some are smoking so remember to ask for nonsmoking if you can't stand the smell! Rooms are a good size and clean with the facilities you'd expect from this level of hotel. Breakfast was superb, lots of choice. Location is good, 15 mins walk from centre of main town.
