Waterfront Retreat on New River/Claytor Lake

Waterfront retreat on the New River at the headwaters of Claytor Lake . Great for fishing, tubing, and boating. Directly across from Allisonia boat ramp and immediately adjacent to our other listing (Cozy Waterfront Cabin). Shared use of boat ramp located on the next lot. Large flat yard is perfect for outdoor activities beside the water. Nearby access to New River Trail.

Well behaved dogs are allowed with prior approval. You must keep dog leashed during visit.
The space
We are located about 30 minutes from Radford and 45 minutes from Blacksburg. Immediately adjacent to our other listing.
Guest access
You will have access to house, dock, yard, and use of boat ramp located at adjacent property. There is a pontoon boat deck converted for use as a dock on the property for you to use. Lake/dock/ramp use are at guest's own risk. Personal flotation devices are highly recommended given water current.

Other things to note
Due to the location, there is limited cell phone service. We have NEW WiFi through Starlink (as of 6/15/2025).

To acquire the key, guests will be given a code to a lock box located at the top of the stairs, on the screened-in porch. The children's playset formerly in photos and mentioned in reviews floated away during 2019 floods. It will not be replaced.

We are pet friendly with prior approval. Please note that there is a pet fee of $35 per pet.

There is a fire pit but wood may or may not be available during visit.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Guests can expect to find free WiFi and a TV with a DVD player. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a coffee maker, and a dining table.

We wanted a relaxing stay near the water for a long holiday weekend and we got what we had hoped for. We loved watching all the birds in the area, some on the river and some in the trees near the house. The porch is great.

The home is very nice, clean and pet friendly. It had all the amenities that you needed for a stay. They were easy to work with and very nice. We loved the area and it had all types of wild life. There were deer every evening, and raccoon tracks on the porch a couple of mornings. The water was awesome and we enjoyed kayaking and sitting on the dock. We had all our children and grandchildren over Labor day for water play, volleyball, and a cook out. The porch was plenty big enough to handle everyone. The owners father came and collected our trash and kept the grass cut for us. We stayed for a month and have nothing negative to say about any of our stay. We hope to go back next year for a vacation!

Labor Day

Perfect place for the Labor Day end of Summer weekend! We brought rafts and floated the River a couple of times. Kyakers went fishing and paddling up and down the river. We sang, laughed, watched the Virginia Tech game, and had a great time! Location was pretty much in the center of all our houses! The house had everything we needed. Great pontoon-dock and ease of access to the water.

We had an amazing time. We stayed for July 4th. Enough room for everyone. One of the bathroom toilets broke a seal and the owner was on it ASAP! Lovely people. Will definitely be back.

The place was excellent. A lot of games to play and movies it was super roomy and the host responded quickly to my questions. The water was beautiful not to mention the amazing porch! I would definitely recommend and stay again
