Beautiful house in great location

This house is very clean and well appointed in a great location. Loved the coffee shop right at the corner of the house as well as the Root Beer Barrel across for a quick bite in between. Douglas beach is not even five minutes with the car. The house had everything that is needed. The complimentary coffee, tea, as well as shampoo, conditioner, body wash were a nice extra touch. There were plenty of beach towels to use as well as camping chairs in the garage. If you travel with a dog, the doggie welcome basket was also a nice extra touch. Came with a water bowl, towels to clean off their paws when coming into the house, a cleaning spray for any dog accidents, dog treats and a roll of dog bag. Towels, bowl and spray are to be left at the house. When you arrive, you need to turn into a private driveway at the white fence right after the coffee place that is at the corner of the street. That wasn’t clear to us when we arrived as we thought that driveway just belongs to the White House that is there. We circled around twice until we figured it out.The only recommendation I would have is to still apply some blackout drapes in the master bedroom. As some previous reviews had mentioned, the neighboring house as a motion sensor light installed to their side of the house that goes on and off constantly at night shining into the master bedroom, making it hard to get a good night sleep. Everything else was great.Would stay there again.

This house was absolutely amazing! It was so clean! It was the perfect size for me and my 2 adult children and their spouses plus my 22 month old granddaughter and my 2 fur grandbabies! It was in a very nice neighborhood just 2 houses away from a historic hotdog and root beer stand. The town of Douglas had nice shops and restaurants and Saugatuck was a 10 minute drive where there were even more shops and restaurants. We went to 2 beaches. The Saugatuck Dune State Park allowed dogs and was a nice walk through the woods and we also went to Oval Beach but dogs were not allowed. I would definitely rent this house again!

Destination Douglas

This was our second trip to the area. The house was definitely an upgrade compared to where we stayed last year. Although a longer walk to the beach, we did not mind because of the proximity to Outside Coffee! The location is perfect for us. It is a short walk to Downtown Douglas where there are shops and restaurants. Although you could walk to Saugatuck, we drove to save time and energy for the nearby golf. We stayed this year during the Holland Tulip Festival and were glad that we made the effort to visit while the tulips were still in bloom. Downtown Holland had plenty of tulips on display as well as offering a variety of retail shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Loved stopping for lunch again this year at Curragh Irish Pub!The house was very clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. I loved the walk-in shower with the rain shower in the primary suite. It was lovely to have a large walk-in closet with hangers for our clothes. The hosts are very pet friendly! They provided a dog dish and other essentials to welcome our son's dog. There is a nice deck off the kitchen for easy access to the back yard when we needed to take the dog outside. It was lovely to have some firewood for the fire pit. I forgot to bring a lighter and could not find one in the house or garage. We managed to light a fire and enjoyed roasting marshmallows and eating our s'mores! We plan to visit the area again next year and will certainly look to stay here again.

Roomy house in a great location

A truly wonderful house for a trip to this area. Located close to several beaches, trails, shops and restaurants in Douglas and Saugatuk. And only about 15 minutes from Holland. This house was perfect for my family of four and my in-laws. It is a very well stocked house. We had plenty of towels, toilet paper, hand soap and cookware items. There is even shampoo, conditioner and body soap in each shower. Plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors in nice weather- a big deck, porch, and side yard with a firepit. A great choice for a quick trip or extended stay. We will definitely be back.

THE BEST LOCATION FOR EVERYTHING FUN!!!

We went for a short girls trip and we were thouroughly impressed with EVERYTHING!!! Location, Accommodations, provided Amenities - just everything! We really couldn't have been happier. We had zip-lock bags; S&P + spices like at home; coffee; filters; wood for firepit. Neighborhood was perfect - accessible to everything you would want: Beach, Downtown restaurants, roads to take you directly to shopping. I can't say enough. This will be a definite do-over for all of our future trips to Saugatuck/Douglas/Holland

WONDERFUL Spot for Girl’s Trip

The Duneside Retreat is truly gem. It was a girl’s long weekend getaway and we had every amenity at our fingertips. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen truly amazing (even left us a bag of local coffee) it was so fun to sit in the front porch or back deck And by the fire pit. The location is spectacular. We walked everywhere or took the Urban Transportation Please add a barn door to the master bath bathroom. There’s no door so please remedy for guests for needed privacy when in clear glass shower. But still 100% happy with our stay.

Perfect weekend getaway

I am expecting our second child. This was a last minute weekend getaway as a family of 3 and I’m so thankful we came. Our 3 year old had so much fun riding his bike on the road by the driveways which was very safe/no cars. The coffee shop was great. Overall the location was perfect- less than 10 minutes to Oval Beach and Saugatuck. We had a wonderful getaway

How a 5-Star Property Receives a One-Star Rating

PROS 1. Very nice home with an open floor plan concept including a large kitchen and living room. 2. Three bedrooms & two bathrooms, two-car garage, and a Washer & Dryer. 3. Close proximity to the beach/lake, downtown Saugatuck & Douglas (e.g. restaurants, wine bars, etc.). CONS 1. The house was very expensive for the six days (approximately $3,000), we had very high expectations for the vacation rental home. 2. An exterior motion sensor light on neighbor's house, in extremely close proximity to the rental home, directly illuminated two of the three bedrooms continuously throughout the night. At times, the motion sensor was illuminating the two bedrooms every other minute, at other times in the night, it would illuminate the two bedrooms every 15 minutes. 3. Customer service (Natalie) was contacted the morning of Thursday, 9/30, after 3 nights of this intrusive light. 4. Customer service (Natalie) informed us that there was nothing that they could do and then encouraged us to purchase "sleep masks". 5. Customer service (Natalie), about 30 minutes after the above response, followed-up and indicated that they would reach-out to neighboring property. 6. Customer service, that for the remaining three days, did not contact us with an update about their efforts. 7. NOTE: No mention made of the motion sensor light on the neighboring home prior to our booking or arrival. 8. Poor Customer service! 9. Five of six adults slept very poorly due to motion sensor light throughout!

Awesome spot

We have been going to Douglas/ Saugatuck for many years. We have stayed in many different VRBO’s this was the best. The host was amazing, the home was PERFECT, location even better. We enjoyed great walks to the beach for the sunset. We were close to downtown, but still felt away for it all. I can’t say enough how much we loved this property and the host. We can’t wait to go back. Loved it !!!
