NH Dortmund4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel has been renovated since my last stay and the improvements in the rooms are out of this world. Such fantastic rooms I seldom experience on my business travels (incl other NH Hotels). BUT I remembered the NH Dortmund as a Hotel with a really good, steady and fast WIFI connection. This was different during my stay this time. I rather used my mobile data as it was very inconvenient to use the WIFI.
I was so disappointed with this hotel. It is newly built and near the train station. I checked in and went to my room. My room was boiling hot, so I called down and asked where I could find the air conditioner thermostat, and was told that they DID NOT have air conditioning. What? You have a newly built building and no air conditioning???? The next surprise was that although I had a queen size bed, I had a twin duvet and one thin pillow. In the bathroom they had one small bath towel and a hand towel. How miserly! How disappointing! I asked for additional towels and did not get any. Customer service was not a strong point either! If you are a traveler this summer and want to sleep in a cooler room, you need to stay somewhere else. This hotel needs a lot of work and much better customer service.
Was very nice just my room was train station side can't sleep well other wise every things ok room also new and good I will be going back soon and stay in NH agian location also very good it's next to city
Hotel is located right next to Dortmund main train station. The close proximity of the hotel makes it very convenient to get around using public transportation. However, inside the hotel looked like a construction site. There was an extensive amount of construction projects going on at the hotel which made my stay at the hotel unfavourable. I don't think I will be staying at the hotel again in the near future.
It was an excellent stay at the hotel as felt like staying at a friend's house. The only missing is Iron and Iron board, Coffee/tea with Cattle. I suggest that hotel should keep the same in each room.
The hotel is listed as a four star hotel with nice pictures on their website. Though it's something else when you actually arrive. The whole ground floor was closed due to construction work. This was not advertised anywhere. The reception was crammed into a hallway on the first floor. The staff seemed all to be hired recently as they wasn't sure about the answer when asking them standard questions. Not the best first impression. Going to our room we came into the elevator which was filled with building materials and sawdust. The room seemed newly redecorated with nice light colors, new bed, sofa and other furnitures. The bathroom was also newly redone. Though the quality of the work was very unimpressive. The bath was leaking, the tiles was uneven and some already cracked. At nighttime loud music could be heard from some of the other rooms, people was shouting and fighting in the hallways. The staff didn't seem to care. From prior experiences with NH hotel group I was very disappointed with this experience. Not what i expect when booking a stay at a NH hotel. Next time i'm in Dortmund i will stay somewhere else.
Well I will share a formal complain... (april 2017) without any answer untill now... --- Last week I stayed for the first time in a NH hotel, in Dortmund. It was a nice hotel… the rooms were good and clean and the location was very convenient… But it was a very desapointing experience: - The rooms were very cold. o The warming system works very badly… I had to change the room twice Even in the 3rd room (where I stayed) there was no warm in the WC (when you leave the bath is tuff) Rooms have 2 different parts, with different temperatures To get the room more a less warm the system hat to be placed in maximum speed and maximum temperature!!!! When the rooms were cleaned, the left the windows open for the rest of the day and the warming system off… imagine the temperature at night when the gest returns to the Hotel!!! (it was cold in Dortmund, Last week) I did a formal complaint (see below) and I had NO ANSWER AT ALL during my all stay… That complain was made in simple paper sheet… there was no formal reporting system for that … As a result, I returned sick to my own town… That’s way I’m having time to prepare this email and sending it to you! - The bed sheets (Duvet) is too small for a person… part of us will stay out of it… - Some of the answers I got were really unpolite… for example I asked something about a bus line and the person at the reception suggested that I should look for that information in the central station…I had to “force” her to go to the internet and look for that information in order to help me… and it was really easy for her.
Just for the record: the hotel is under reconstruction now. BUT. If they decided to have guests, although they cannot use all of the possibilities of the hotel, they should have organized a lot of things much better. The breakfast is rather funny than acceptable. (See the pictures.) We were seated in rooms, which had been two of the guest rooms before (or just seemed like those). The tables and chairs looked like than those had been taken from a camp. The reception on the first floor looks amateur also. The quality of the food is ok, but nothing special. The air condition, which you cannot switch off in the room is quite loud. The only advantage of this hotel are the big size of the rooms. I hope after being ready this hotel will be much better.
Really liked this hotel. Bright, clean and welcoming. Staff were great, helpful and professional. Most enjoyed getting up, making coffee, opening the window and enjoying the views. Good bed, shower and facilities. I'll be back.
There is only one word to say: Don't come here! The rooms are atleast 20 years old. The free wifi in the room doesn't even exist. Reception doesn't exist. This hotel is old ugly and misses any personal touch
