I didn’t plan my time in DhakaBANGLADESH very well, but I am certainly VERY GLAD I planned on overnighting here! The hosts have absolutely taken such good care of me as their guest, both with nutrition and beneficial instruction.
After an extremely frustrating ordeal (3 hours) getting clearance/admittance by immigration [#1: pay the visa fee ($51usd) FIRST, keep receipt handy & queue up.] because You MUST fill out the full-size entrance document, which was only available from the immigration agent. ALWAYS be pleasant with the agents, or you will be slowed down. When I was in the queue (03MAR2019), there were 50-70 other people lined up, too. Many of them were difficult to the agents, but because I was pleasant/good attitude, they processed my application before the others who were in front of me!
Part of this means having a local residence/phone number, which Sabrina’s provided. In fact, immigration called my hosts to verify my reservation/location. I am very glad I completed all of the requested paperwork for Sabrina Homestay because it made my entering easier, despite the lengthy amount of time.
Following my host instructions, I stopped at the airport local/Bangladesh SIM card purchase, replacing my USA T-mobile USA SIM card. For some reason my 8+ did not accept the new SIM card, so the contract was cancelled. Just as well.
Once through all if the officialities, I used the in-airport pre-booking service for a taxi to SABRINAs. The hosts, again, were absolutely essential in helping me arrive at their 6th-floor hostel.
The home-made bunk beds with mosquito netting were plain but extremely effective. The meals were some of the best/freshest I’ve ever had anywhere. They have plentiful universal outlets for recharging electrics, and the WiFi is excellent/reliable.
Absolutely, the best communication is through WHATS APP. Despite any other challenges entering this significant city/country, being able to send/receive messages/guidance fromSABRINA’s HOMESTAY proved to be the key for an easier transition! I highly recommend this great hostel, and without a doubt, it has my enthusiastic “Wheel of Approval!”
